Freakin’ 💯% correct! Can’t believe Tori is my daughter‘s age (based on that she was born in 2003). So glad younger generation people are coming up and many are discovering this kind of music for the first time and they absolutely love it and want to reproduce it! Thank God! I’m 48 years old and I’ve seen most music go downhill ever since I was a kid.

Because of them we had our music. The 70's was the time of the best music. Across the board. Rock and roll, Mototown, POP. Country. Some of us remember...... Thank you
Another 70 year old sittin' here contemplating the past. Missing the people time has taken and feeling fortunate for the time I've had to enjoy music like this. Thank you Tori Holub, a young woman unknowingly helping to make life..., livable, for those of us from the past.
Folks, its not normal to have a voice this perfect and we all must find every way possible to share Tori with the world. This type of true pitch perfect contralto voice only comes along once or twice in a lifetime and Tori has been blessed with it just like Karen was blessed with hers. Our world needs Tori's voice and we desperately need to get back to wholesome, moralistically sound, joyful, loving music.
@@yori4666 Karen's range went well down into the octave below middle C. A few women can get that low, but she not only could but did it with force. The opening note in "Only Yesterday", for example, she sings six times in the song. Only a true contralto can sing a note that low that solidly. Frankly I'm not even sure Tori can sing that low, for as well as she matches Karen in the range above a violin's G string.
I never thought that I would ever hear a singing voice as magnificent as Karen Carpenter's again in my lifetime... then Tori came along : ) Thank you Tori and Jim for this wonderful Christmas gift.
I'd rather have the original, where the real magic was created rather than a slavish impersonation. For a real cover compare 'Close to You' with Bacharach's own . He said Richard's wa 20 times better.
I have waited for decades to hear someone properly cover Karen Carpenter. Your style honors her beautiful contralto voice, while not attempting to mimic or replicate it, and not just a tribute. Your voice and all the instrumental accompaniment are a pleasure to experience. You have blessed me beyond words. May God bless you both!
For All We Know is the first dance song of my parents at their wedding in 1973. It was a budget wedding-no wedding singer, just the turntable of the church sound system playing in the social hall. Before that, after they were pronounced husband and wife, it was also the other Carpenter’s popular wedding song, “We Only Just Begun,” they chose to play. My mother is a big Carpenters fan and used to sing their songs as a member of their Glee Club. She felt very sad when Karen passed away in 1983. She was just a year younger than Karen. Over the years, during family celebrations or karaoke nights, she would sing For All We Know, sometimes with my late father beside her. Yesterday, while she was standing in the kitchen preparing lunch, I showed her Tori’s version. She immediately sat down, and halfway through the song, I saw tears in her eyes, which she tried to hide. When it was finished, I tried to get her opinion, but I was also choked up and chose to remain silent. I am a construction worker and know my voice would crack because I also felt that lump in my throat for holding back the tears. She just made a slight smile and nodded at me. I guessed she felt all over again the magic of the song “For All We Know” when she first heard Tori’s rendition, very much the same way it affected her with Karen’s original version all those years ago. I am glad for that experience and realized once more that the best things in life are free. Thank you, Tori and James, for making it happen. Tori, in your own right, you are a star. James, you are truly the modern-day one-man band.
I was only 7 when I first heard this song 1971. I did not know who it was but my ears were glued to it as it played on the radio that was a big 1950s stereo. All I know is The Carpenters and others inspired my own songwriting. My song Friends Forever written for my best friend a girl I grew up with was partially inspired by We've Only Just Begun.
Another perfect antidote to what the industry forces on us, no autotune, no pitch correction, just stunning production showcasing two talented musicians and visuals too.
I have always thought Karen had the most beautiful voice ever created. She and Richard's magnificent musical collaborations are unmatched. I've never quite gotten over the loss. Tori, you have an amazing God given talent. Comparing you to Karen Carpenter is meant to be of the highest compliment. You're amazing.
When I closed my eyes and listened to this I felt transported back in time to when I was 7. It was Jan 1971 that I first heard this playing. It's not just Tori's amazing voice but I thought also this music version had Richard Carpenter all over it. I wish my dad was alive to hear this. He loved Karen Carpenter.
Astoundingly good - but just like everything Tori has done. With Jim's amazing talent and instrumental versatility, this is no longer just a popular song. It is magic. Tears of joy!
Tori is astonishingly talented. It's a crying shame that people like her are sharing their gifts in relative obscurity on small UA-cam channels, while people who have to use auto-tune to fix their mumbling are raking in millions. It didn't used to be this way, and it doesn't have to be. Thank you, Tori and Jim!
Absolutely mesmerizingly beautiful! Karen and Richard would be proud. Tori has the closest voice to Karen’s I’ve ever heard. The musicianship and production are stellar as well. 🌹
The world changed when Karen Carpenter died. The world has changed again. Tori, you have been blessed beyond measure to bring that beautiful music back to us. Thank you from all of us to you. ❤

Man can she sing and her music has touched me. Best singer of all time.
Wow! Tori has done it again with another amazing cover. If I close my eyes, I can almost hear Karen's voice from fifty years ago. I hope she does more of these ballads.
Been a few weeks now ..... still amazed at this gal Tori AND THE OBVIOUS PARALLEL to the incredible Karen Carpenter ...... Tori has a little better lower register and that was what made Karen special and different from other women vocal talents .... that and the PEARLY SMOOTH, VIRTUALLY PRECISE MIDDLE OF THE NOTE PITCH & VIBRATO SO CLEAN, NATURAL & SWEET ! Well we lost our Karen Carpenter some time ago ..... we have now A BEAUTIFUL, PHENOMENAL VOICE = Tori Tolub, GBjj
Absolutely perfect. I never would have thought that someone could match Richard Carpenter's ability to layer vocals. You have done it. Truly beautiful.
Tori may start a Musical Revolution. A revolution of Love, caring, and music that is actually pleasing to the heart. Tori, set to make music great again!
"For All We Know" is my favorite Carpenters song, even more than "We've Only Just Begun", which I also love and is number two for me. I can hardly describe how much I am enjoying listening to Tori and James singing it, and appreciating the work they have put into a beautiful Christmas release.
Thank you all so much for producing this fantastic video. Much could be said about many aspects of it, but there isn't time or space. I've listened to a number of Ms. Holub's (and Mr. Wilkas's) videos, Carpenters and others. I think this is my favorite. Of course her singing is very like Karen Carpenter's, but she deserves credit in her own right. With both singers, there is such a purity of tone. It is just stunning. Mr. Wilkas is one talented cat! Wowie. I'll just mention two more things. I love the way that we get the visual representation as we hear the instruments. I think the French horns may be the most beautiful, but they are all just great (oboe and others). It is a tribute to the songwriting and instrumentation and arranging of Richard Carpenter and others. It is a reminder and yet also creative of you folks who covered and interpreted it. I'll leave with this. In the intro and the start of the singing, I just love the duet played by the singer and the bass. For me the bass is the most important instrument in modern music. It's not playing 1s and 5s, but motifs and counterpoint melodies. It's where it's at!!
I'm sure Richard would shed a tear by listening to this. I wish he could join Tori and her team to suggest and arrange more songs we would have loved to hear from Karen.
I’ve always appreciated someone who didn’t “over sing.” The vibrato is controlled and used when needed and the sung melody isn’t busy. To me the quality of the voice is more impressive than vocal gymnastics.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful 😍🥰😍 Karen was a boyhood crush. I watched every TV special or whenever they were guest's on shows. Tori is the only one that I've heard that can match even the emotions of each song that she sings by the Carpenters. And Jim absolutely crushes it with the production.
What a beautiful on point rendition i ever heard of Karen song a perfect sounds and voice of this pretty girl... ..Love you Miss Tori keep it up honey.
This is one of my favorite Carpenters songs. TORI HOLUB, YOU ARE SPECIAL👏👏👏👏👏👏. James Wilkas, excellent production👏👏👏👏👏👏. I’m looking forward to more Carpenters songs by Tori, please please!!!
And.i was just watching the DVD where Karen sings this at the outdoor amphitheater where Tom Jones and his girlfriend are in the audience ........your performance is exactly like Karen singing ...have no idea how you and jim.make such a perfect performance of this gorgeous song. As another commenter said , "I'll be back to listen to.this a few hundred more times ".
A reminder to please look at the co-writer of “Close To You,” Roger Nichols. If you’re wondering how the Carpenters got their heavenly sound, get prepared to listen to an album from Roger Nichols, called, “A Small Circle of Friends.” I first heard this LP in 1967 on A&M records (same label as the Carpenters). His “friends” versions of some of McCartney’s songs will have you hoping that Tori lays down Nichol’s vocals, now realizing how the Carpenters developed their style. Roger Nichols may not be that familiar, but once you hear him with Tori’s voice, and you begin to hear many heavenly albums in your head. Nichols is a remarkable composer, vocal stylist and now hearing Tori’s spectacular voice, I thought you might like to dream about the possibilities with me.
Thanks for this danakott977 - Very nice! Nichols co-wrote "We've Only Just Begun", "Close To You" was by Bacharach and David. The early vocal styles of Nichols was rich and luscious employing multi-tracking used by many artists of the day. I wasn't aware of this recording before, thank you for bringing it to my attention!
Good grief, so incredibly good. I could not have imagined my favorite Carpenters song done like this by someone other than the Carpenters, but here we are. Your rendition is just amazing, and it warms my heart so much. Thank you.
Thanks for making me cry. I watch your mouth open but can't believe this is real. Karen was not only the best voice ever heard but her tragic death shaped my life forever. You are simply amazing!
The best compliment I can give: just like Karen, when Tori sings she makes me happy and tear up at the same time. Beautiful cover , congratulations to both Tori and Jim for recreating perfection! Just WOW
What’s there to say but bravo! Absolutely one of the best covers all around. Tori really captured Karen and the gentleman who put it together has got amazing talent!
Brilliant! I had this song at my wedding 50 years ago. This woman's voice is identical to Karen Carpenter s. Thank you for not straying from the original. I am in tears.
Both of you are incredible. I've been a Carpenters fan since 1971 and you have transported me back to those times when I'd hear a new Carpenters tune for the first time. Thank you so much.
Tori, once again you've brought me to tears, You and James are amazing. Can't wait for my favorite " Top of The World" When it comes out I'll be singing with you. Been singing it since 1972 when it first came out. Can't wait to do it again. Thank You Tori and James
Always been a Carpenters fan beginning back when my dad would go out and buy their albums when they came out. Tori's vocal talent to so closely match Karen's voice and inflections is such a great tribute to Karen's memory but also says a lot about Tori's own gift. I can close my eyes and it as if Karen is singing again.
One song I would love to hear you and Tori cover is Emily's Song by the Moody Blues. It's was written by the bass player John Lodge for his baby daughter Emily in 1971. It's one of the most gorgeous songs I ever heard and is a lullaby. The melody is so beautiful and the harmonies. It's on You Tube. You and Tori would make it sound even more beautiful then it already is. It's a very highly overlooked song.
Beautiful, I enjoy everything you and Tori have put out so far and I just discovered all this yesterday! Being a musician myself, this is truly a blessing. The harmonies and nuances are so wonderful! I love listening to Carpenter’s music. Now we have it refreshed, renewed and better sounding in the 21st century. I can’t believe Tori is my daughter‘s age (based on the understanding that she was born in 2003). So glad younger generations are coming up and are discovering this kind of music for the first time. Many absolutely love it and want to reproduce it!
Attention people of the 21st century! Wake up! This is real music!
You are so right you don’t hear that all the time. ❤

Amen to that!

Dayum!!! That was a stunningly beautiful cover. Jst perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Your voice made me cry .... so beautiful.... the voice of an angel ... very good job 👍👍
Tori is spectacular as always and Jim is really showing off his multi-instrumental skills here!!!
