Very Laid Back But Packed To The Gills - Philly Pride 2023
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 сер 2024
- A walk through the biggest and tamest Philly Pride Day in my memory... what it lacked in intensity it overwhelmed in numbers - it was soooo crowded! So many people and so little going on.... it was weird. I've been going to pride in Philly and NYC for decades but this was something very different from anything I have seen before. No live music, no floats, not bands, no shows, no stages, no craziness. Like a craft fair on steroids. Welcome to the future?

I love the feel of a more grassroots-y , less commercialized, less corporatized Pride!!!
still groomerized
@@MrPolandball do you think your sexual preference can change?
when all the big corporations support your demonic deeds you know you're on the wrong side of history
@@MrPolandball You're thinking of the Catholic church. The people who want to marry 12 year olds and force them to give birth have politically groomed you to demonize people just trying to live their lives. Stop posting reactionary NPC comments and grow up.
@MrPolandball were you born stupid or do you choose to be this way?
Not a single BudLight ! 🤦🏽♂️🤣
this was great! only thing missing was "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John blasting through speakers along the street as a proud Gay male. I have always wanted to go to a pride parade 😀
Interesting camera viewpoint! What kind of setup did you use to video this? Thanks.
Riding a baby giraffe.
What? No stages?
THERE WERE SIX STAGES AT THIS YEAR'S PRIDE! It surely seems intentional that all six of them were missed. The video also failed to capture the loudest, most raucous, and fun sections of the festival (dancing in the streetes, etc.) It also failed to show any footage of the march which included the largest pride flag in history...yes, right here in Philly! It was nearly the length of a football field.
I like the pole cam angle, Wish I had the gear to pull it off. The tradeoff is probably the frame dragging from the small sensor needing so much light, but it's a great view
love you Fran
Ok groomer
Thank you Fran 🙏 for another year of letting us vicariously enjoy Pride!
Looks like it was nice. :) I love Pride London. How many waves did you get Fran ? I saw one at 12:02. As for the preacher man, I say A-men, men and more men !!! :D
Notice how there is no trash strewn around. Definitely shows how respectful the attendees are, especially with all the food trucks.
It feels different because the actual traditional festival is June 8th. Thats when they will have a parade and performers. Will be much more fun then!
Yes ❤❤
Looks a lot like my country - the Netherlands. Very similar atmosphere.
when everything changes, nothing stays the same. Confucius says.
Wha...?
Nice walkaround, soaking up the atmosphere. Something weird with the video processing - every frame is a double image, really shows up when panning
This is very different than when i went to Philly pride day in the 90s. Looks like it was a good time just the same.
I’m part of the lgbt community. Thanks for the video Fran.
Could not make it but felt like being there. Great turn out
I just don't like radiation from the sun beating down on me which is why I avoid.
Nice! Glad you posted this. Pride is always cool to see and participate in. Don't forget how it all started, people. These were NOT "nice and polite" parades in the beginning.
To all the small minded comments under this video - don't let the door hit you on the way out!
Your cam very blurry
Wow, it looks totally cool. 🙂
Interesting to compare Philly Pride with Pride in my own town, Reading in southern England. Ours is a lot smaller (understandably, for a much smaller city - about 350,000 population), and starts with a march through the town centre then out to a park with stages, singers, bands, drag acts, funfair etc. A lot of local organisations - police, fire-fighters, trades unions, political parties (even the Conservatives) have stalls, and even some religious organisations like the Quakers. Our Pride attracts a lot of furries (I'm not surprised to see none in your video - Philly Pride looks FAR too hot for fur suits) as well as a large contingent called Pups of the South, men into leather and puppy play. ♥
Pride is always such a blast. This is pretty much how it's been in Phoenix, if things get too loud, the cops show up and arrest everyone with a pulse.
Hm. You say it is quiet but in the same time as you approach the end of the video you approach some loud music and noise...
I noticed that too. There were multiple stages (6 of them) that she missed and she didn't go down the streets full of music and dancing.
She also didn't cover the march and the largest pride flag in history.
I'm not gay. I don't have anybody that I'm friends with or in my family that I know of. Anyway, that is gay or trans or lesbian or any of that. It's just looks like a bunch of people being happy. What is so effing criminally wrong with that? I mean the people on the right said they're always being persecuted for their beliefs and not be allowed to be Christian and all that well they see. It's a little hypocritical to not let these people do what they want to do? I hope we just live and let live in a somebody's not bothering you and what they're doing is an affecting your life and they're happy. Let them be. Have a great day everybody!
Sorry about the text to speech. Trying to cook a 4-year-old dinner and wrangle him on. My wife is folding clothes.
Thanks for capturing some footage, really nice to see. A lot quieter than what you've shown of it in previous years but still great to see the streets were full. 🌈
There were SIX stages. She missed all of them and missed the loudest sections full of dancing and fun.
All these lovely people and yet some would deny the right for people to be who they are.
Yeah... That's sad indeed. C'mon people, we're not in the 1930s anymore...
@@KeritechElectronics Why do you assume that everything from the past is wrong and that everthing from nowdays is correct?
@@Vekikev1 this statement is false.
Love that laid back vibe!
I grew up in the Philly area but never saw this section much. It's nice to see other parts. Thank you for sharing and letting me make new memories.
Its a disgrace that people have to live in fear like this.
It does my heart good to see so many people having a good time and, most importantly, not doing anyone any harm at all.
What strikes me about this is I haven't seen any Cops about in the crowd if there are they are keeping a really low profile .
Could be that they too are having ball too. Who knows.
If the people are, then that makes me a happy bunny, too.
Stay safe, Fran.
Is that a Funkadelic shirt?!
I had a back spasm and missed what would've been my first Pride this weekend 😭
I've got exactly ONE day a year to meet other trans women before we all go back into paranoid hiding for another 364 days.
@@andie_pants yeah, especially in the backward areas. It's a shitshow out there and I'm absolutely not surprised you feel that way.
What happened to the music, dancing, floats and excitement????
She didn't cover the loudest and most raucous parts of the festival. And there were actually SIX STAGES! I'm not sure why she failed to include them and falsely report there were no stages.
And there was a march rather than a parade. The march included the largest pride flag ever made. It wasn't captured in this video either.
The organizers are planning a parade and festival for National Coming Out Day in October.
March in June. Parade in October. This is actually more historically accurate planning- that a march would happen for pride (anniversary month of Stonewall) and a celebratory parade for coming out day!
Pride Is A Universal Humane Rite!
Nice! I like the "laid back" ones! Is your camera up on a stick, or are you really, really tall?
Where's the camera? I'm guessing it's on your hat? Selfie stick? It's steady...
It surprisingly seems almost respectable, hopefully it's maturing gracefully.
It makes me a bit sad to se a Pride festival so... somber. Much like the only Portland, OR Pride event I went to. It was a major anniversary of the Stonewall Riot(50th, maybe?) and it was, much like this, quiet, and almost boring.
There were SIX stages and several sections of the festival full of loud music and dancing in the street. She failed to include any of it.
Thanks for the coverage, Fran. We're in this different place because the community is cowed, cautious and slightly terrified. In Texas or Florida maybe, but Philly?
Love always wins ❤
happy pride🤩🤗😘😍😋🎊🎊🎈
LOVE IS KING!
BE LOVE !
Thanks Fran, that was cool.
The tourist have taken over like at Burning Man.
Nice Walk thru !!!! 😊 Thanks so much Fran 😊
What a great day out!

Call me old fashioned but corporate sponsorship ruins everything.
Except I don’t see any of that here.
I'm with you - seeing too many corporations paint their logos rainbow in June, while often doing nefarious shit behind our back. And don't even get me started on that Elongated Muskrat.
Packed indeed! A never ending river of lovely humans, roughly same size as here in Gdańsk a week ago. Our Pride is a march with a bunch of trucks and a scene at the end, it always starts somewhere in the downtown and ends at the "hipster" post-industrial part of the Gdańsk shipyard, a place that made history in the '80s.
We had a few "tourists" on the way but that was two or three orders of magnitude less than participants. Pitiful.
Still, I was probably the only person who had a leather pride flag, like last year. None of that "no kinks at Pride" BS. We always were, are and will be there - ever since Stonewall!
Fran-kly, I would also feel weird if I were there. No march? No demonstrating? Whaaaaaaaat?
Speaking of which... I feel weird at marches where no one shouts any slogans. That was always there, ever since I went to my first Manifa in 2008 (and maybe some minor demos before but not that many). And this? Looks like a street fair, not something political.
Oh, BTW... I'll keep a close watch on the comment section here. Just a fair warning for anyone who thinks about pulling some shenanigans.
And just what are you going to do ????
@@stevel.2126 whatever I can. Even if I have no mod superpowers anymore, I can still report or discuss.

Wow, What a show! The ultimate "people watching" opportunity. been to a few of these in SF with my gay sister...
Why is your content all over the place? No wonder you’re struggling.
When people attend Pride, they often say they feel 10 feet tall but this is how it would look if you were actually 10 feet tall!
Is this after the parade?
Right on Fran. We are with you. Youre a huge inspiration to me, often and all the time.
Happy Pride Fran! 🎉
Happy Pride Fran!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
hell yeah fran!! wish I was there to meet you!

Nothing there for me, I'm out. Have fun people.
Fran, you need to get busy shadowbanning some poeple here... Also, curious, but what does clicking the "downvote" on comments exactly do?
Shadowbanning,?? So you are the only one with a right to an opinion, Hhmm ? Typical I would say...........

wish I could go some time.
What exactly are they proud of?
I'm not a member of the LGBTQ+ (and letters they want to add) crowd but I'd venture to say they are proud of who they are and it's within their right to be or not be in a consensual and loving relationship with the person(s) of their choosing.
@@chuckster255 so you're saying they are proud of their sexualitu? That's a strange thing to be proud of.
@@skypatrol716 No. Its not a strange thing to be proud of. How did you come to that conclusion ??
@@skypatrol716 I did not say that. I said they are proud of who they are and that they have the right to choose who they love or not love, I did not say anything about sexuality.
@@chuckster255 So when you said "consensual And loving relationship" that has nothing to do with their sexuality? What are they "consenting' to then?
how much garbage those people left on roads?
Huge amount of obesity.
It's in the USA.
Happy Pride baby!
Is this y there r inappropriate rainbow flags hanging in wawa right now?
Someone tore them down, the tape is still there.

This is as it should be, awareness and some education. 🎉
Just now (after viewing this) I searched for "Philly Pride Day" on google (to maybe learn more), and this video was on the first page of results. It showed up even when I searched in a private browser. Fingers crossed that it brings you some new viewers.
I'm gay, and I was just wondering if pride events are a good place to find a guy to have gay sex with? Of course, I would find a hotel room.
so more quantity than quality...oh well, people peaceably assembling..nothing wrong with that
She missed the march that preceeded the festival and failed to cover any of the multiple stages that she claimed didn't exist. She also didn't cover the loudest streets with dancing, etc. Odd.
Philly pride is the best!
🏳️🌈❤
Why do LGBT... people have to demonstrate, as a simple hetero I am confuse, we do not make hetero marches, is it a way to meet others ?
Just look up the year gay marriage was legalised in the us. Shit don’t come easy for marginalised groups.
Day-to-day normality in the USA is one big cis/hetero march! How many rom-coms are gay or trans, how many popular songs (save for a couple long gone British bands in the 1980s) are about gay or lesbian love?
It must hurt to think as you are totally rotten at it. Find another hobby kid.
I know. Crazy why oppressed minorities would like to do this. I guess heteros that feel this way too should have their own parade? Oh right...
What impressed me most was that there were vacant parking spaces in the side street.
A lovely, beautiful sight.
And also, exhaustingly sad, not to be seeing masks amongst the crowd.
I can hope & wish that our community will learn better next year.
Lol, okay.

EEeeee eeeeeeee Where's Jane Goodall?

Isn't this just Soooo Special....
