"Battle Theme" from Final Fantasy X (2001).
Yet another remake! This song was also one of the most viewed videos on the old channel so I just had to do a remake. Not only because of the numbers, but I just love this song. One of the songs that will just teleport me back to being a little kid and trying out Final Fantasy X for the first time..
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning : E-A-D-G
Composer : Nobuo Uematsu
Game : Final Fantasy X (2001)
Song : BATTLE THEME
Bass : Warwick GPS Corvette 5A Ash
Bro that 0:50 cried me!
Stunning performance!
Absolutely EPIC 💪🏼
Thank you!
Always knew this bass-line is great. Thanks for the cover!
No problem!
Wow, this took me by surprise ! Didn't expect you to cover a song from my ultimate childhood video game - let alone this banger of a battle theme ! Big nostalgia right there.
Yep... this game is really something else.
I love every part of this theme so much, particularly as a whole.
The drums are perhaps the most wholly supportive part, mostly going by the general feel of the music pushed most by the synth and bass for a bit, with it's own flair with the the hi-hat, before more pretty simply reminding us of the 8/4 time signature of the moment that it has been for a while, giving a nice epiphany feeling for those who didn't noticing or think of it for a time. So simple then, it could almost sound like 4/4 without even sounding out of place at all.
The synth is doing a lot of things I could wall-of-text on much more than I already am, but one of which is solidifying the main, hard alt-rhythm you bop your head to as "3.. 3.. 3.. 3.. 2! 2!" while being as flashy, extravagant, and unmistakable as possible. Also just sounding cool.
The bass, though; to me can be a little... particular; special. It's perhaps the most simple(sounding), but also kinda interesting. It's going along and doing everything it's supposed to do to tie together with and support everything else, yet it also almost sounds like it's... dancing? As if it's just doing it's own flowing-kinda thing throughout; living in the rest of the music, going with the flow. Respecting the more serious portions... and finding it's own little bit of fun, it sounds like. With a playful bit of cool elegance. You don't always get to hear quite that kind of thing in bass portions of tracks like these, gaming or otherwise.
I've always loved this theme, and you did a nice job! You definitely seemed to know your way around this track intuitively. I hope you can still go on strong! Subbed!
Thanks for the sub and the in-depth analysis on this one! I think that's why this song stands out so much though, it's constantly moving. Not a single bar that gets repeated..
Oh man, the nostalgia!
I love FFX man! A great game indeed, and a great cover!
Thanks man!
@@LeoBassCovers2 My pleasure!
You can't believe how big to learning bass this video is to me. It's not even my favourite song in FFX, but it's so much fun to play!
I'm wondering if you're interested in doing videos for some FFXII and FFXV music too. They don't have iconic basslines like the older FFs, but I'd love to play something from those games.
It is really fun to play! I have only played FFX and FFXII so I wouldn't know which song is a good one from XV. Things is, all those songs are orchestal and have no bass in them at all... so it becomes a bit tricky
Thank you so much for the donation though. Very much appreciated. I'm still thinking what could be interesting from FFXII..
Awesome bassline!
This is well played, good work
Thank you :)
This song haunts my dreams.
Never heard this before your cover. You definitely did it justice though great job!
Thanks a lot! I love this song so I appreciate it even more :)
@@LeoBassCovers2 Oh wow! No problem I'm honored that you took the time to reply. I really look up to you top 5 bassist in my book you are!
Jeez, thank you so much! I will always reply so if you have any questions or just..anything, do tell!
@@LeoBassCovers2 No problem man 😎😎I will definitely drop a question/comment every now and then you got my word!
Awesome! Can you do Secret of Mana - Danger? (With bass slap of course!) 👏
Okay, we *need* you to take a crack at Dancing Mad, or at least the 15/8 section
FUCK Ya you sir have amazing taste in music
Man that's cool. Are you a legit final fantasy fan? Or was it a request?
FFX & FFXII are probably my favourite games of all time. So I guess you could say I am yes!
@@LeoBassCovers2 right on. That's so cool. VII and X are my favorites. I'm a huge final fantasy nerd.

Thanks!
Thank you so much for that!
@@LeoBassCovers2 Your welcome. Thank you.
Woah, it's in 6/4? Never noticed
hey! what does the note that's reversed, with a black dot next to it means ? is it like something to manifest silence ? and if yes, how do you actually put silence? by stopping the string from vibrating?
Hmm do you have an example/timestamp of when you're seeing this on the tab during this song? I have a feeling that you're talking about a dotted eighth rest, but I'm not sure. Cause if so, it's just a longer pause. A dot always adds half of the value of the note itself. So you'd wait 1.5 seconds instead of 1 second if it wasn't a dotted note.
@@LeoBassCovers2 from the very beginning to 0:14 , it goes 4__ *the thing*___4____*the thing* etc etc
but i feel like that is the dotted rest you were mentioning about
Yeah that's a dotted rest :)
I also could've written it like an 8th rest and a 16th rest next to each other. But it's basically just a longer rest. There's multiple ways to mute a bass, but the easiest way is to just put your finger (with fretting hand) over a string to mute it.
Any idea when the schedule is going to be up on patreon?
Oh this is still the same schedule from the community post on UA-cam. But I can put another schedule up on Patreon. The last time I posted one there, nobody even saw it.
@@LeoBassCovers2 oh, I didn't see the UA-cam community one
I'll post a new schedule there somewhere in mid-February :)
oh well, guess im gonna learn a new song now
Yep!
