Good list. I've done every single one plus more. Factory sunroof was replaced with tin panel dropping another 25 lbs. Another one I highly DONT recommend but have done personally is removed front and rear metal bumpers, each weighing about 50 to 60 lbs if I remember. 83 GT weighing 2650 lbs last time I checked. Still haven't done tubular front suspension yet and zero fiberglass or lexan on the car. All steel and glass. Feels like your driving a go cart with a V8 at this weight. 👍
Hey dan, I hear ya about the bumpers; they’re big weight but I didn’t include them in this video as I’m going to do a follow-up video and recommend removing the bumpers but installing the tubular supports. I’ve ran no bumpers as well and my front nose pushed in without the tubular support. That said, you have a wicked light car. The fox in my background is a tin can as well but haven’t weighed it yet. Thanks for your great comment and for watching. Really appreciate it 🦾🏁
@@PaulDaFox I have already done the sound deadening and rear seat. I used a putty knife and for the tough stuff a cable wheel on my angle grinder. I primed and Lizard skinned it afterwards. I need to keep the handling stuff in the car and definitely AC/heat since I use it for a secondary driver. Seats and lightweight wheels are a great idea for track days.
Great video Paul! I was already going to lose the spare, jack and dog-bone on the differential. Going to keep my creature comforts! But 💯 Street! 😀 Heavy vert life!
Good video. I got my fox down to 2643lbs , but removed a lot more. Took everything out behind the dash, removed the sound deadening material from floor boards. Kirky seat, and aluminum engine block.
Wow that’s awesome 2643 🙌🏼 These weight cuts were more of the starter kit lets say. I plan on doing another related video in regards to the best replacement parts to cut weight. Looking forward to weighing my fox to see where I’m at. Thanks again brother🦾🏁
Great video.. Those saleen wheels looks so clean on your cobra. I believe the stock seats on the termi are heavy too i been thinking of swapping them out.
Really like the last tip. There's a dual performance bonus there...lose weight from the car + drop some weight from your own frame = win/win. Being a high performance/healthy person definitely has its benefits.
A few other weight removing mods to consider -- Cutting out the Stamped metal K member and going to a Tube-welded K Member from QA1, etc will shave off 175lb. Replacing the Stamped metal control arms and using Tube-welded control arms will shave off 25 lbs or so. And finally swapping out the hood with a carbon fiber hood will save 25lbs or so
Morning Patrick, you have some great additions to the list there - thank you! Great list btw.... Cant you also remove the inner bumpers? They have bumper covers, so if were cutting out door supports out you might as well take out the bumpers
Hey Thomas, Yeah I totally forgot about those and I’ve done them to my own coupe🤦🏼♂️ That said, I really appreciate you adding to the list. Thanks brother 👍🏼🏁
Morning Tony, 100% those bumpers are heavy! I was going to add them to the list but I thought I would include them in an upcoming video for best replacement parts for weight cut as most of the guys swap the bumpers for the tubular supports. Although some don't do it, the last time I ran no front tubular support my front nose pushed in 🤦♂️ Thanks for watching, much appreciated!! 🏁
How much weight would you lose if you deleted the OEM steering wheel, airbag, badging, horn, door handles, door locks, trunk locks, front lights and rear lights. Also, how much money could you have made from re-selling these parts, plus the parts you mentioned, back in 1993? TY
Morning MegaMacnut, you have 2 great questions! And to answer the first one, that's a tough one as I haven't weighed or permanently removed some of the items that you've listed. My best guess would be approximately 28-35lbs all together. As far as what the parts would have been worth in 1993 is another tough question as these foxes were still relatively new at that time so the need for these parts were not in strong demand as they are today. Thank you for the questions, hopefully I helped a little bit and I appreciate you watching. Have a great day!! 🦾🏁
Hey Paul, what about the Side rubber mouldings fenders, doors and rear 1/4? They must weigh some 10-15lbs together . I chucked mine the day I got mine lol
Morning BrazenMight, thank you for adding to the list - those are great weight saving that you’ve listed as well especially the side door mouldings. Appreciate the comment and for you watching: have a great week🦾🏁
I hear ya! I like my power windows and locks aswell👍🏼 I haven’t looked into fiber glass doors in a long time, but I recall Summit Racing use to sell them. Do you live in Canada or the States?
@@PaulDaFox I live in CA. I only see fiberglass doors for drag cars only. I already bought a pair of manual doors with manual lock & window but they still heavy. I'm thinking dropping 60-70 lb alone on both doors. Maybe I can use my old doors & make a fiberglass mold or mod a fiberglass drag door. I think that's the most heaviest item on most all American muscle cars.

Hey Oscar, yeah that’s a good one which I forgot about. Thanks for adding to the list. I may have to do a Part II to this video with some top-ups. Thanks for watching, have a great night!👍🏼🏁
@@PaulDaFox also if you remove original hood and add a fiber glass hood it reduces weight. And if you exchange the seats with light race seats it takes some off. No prob man 👍. Thanks for the info. Have a good night yourself🙋.
If You are not going to drive on the road You can remove the front and rear bumper reinforcements ! 🇺🇸🇵🇷🦊👍
I agree 💯 brother and those would be some good weight savings! Thanks for the input and for watching, have a great night!! 👊🏼🦊🏁🇨🇦
Forgot front and rear bumper supports. Thats like 22lbs for the front and like 48-52lbs for rear.
Hey brother, I didn’t forget about those as this list was geared towards weight cut stuff we could remove without any replacement parts. I guess technically we could remove the bumpers and not put the tubular supports in, so I was going to include these for an upcoming video for Best Replacement Parts weight reduction. That said, really appreciate your comment, thanks for watching and have a great day!! 🏁
@@PaulDaFox Yea i understand that but the tubular replacements arent mandatory and i do not run them. /shrug Its preference really.
@@rudde67ssm62 💯I agree with you…I’ve ran without the front tubular support as well and it end pushing my bumper cover in, but no issue with nothing in the back so you make a valid point - personal preference! 👊🏼🏁
Price of groceries like they are losing body weight is inevitable.
Yeah good point brother! These groceries prices are ridiculous. Actually everything is getting out of control which is scary! Where does it end? 🤷🏼♂️
I gotta have that ac tho
I hear ya brother…I’ve never used A/C in my life in any of my vehicles so it’s definately one of the first items to go in my foxes. Thanks for the comment and for watching, have a great Sunday!! 🙏🏼
I need to go on a diet!
Since that video, I took my own advise and have cut down 16lbs off myself. Thanks for the comment and for watching, have a great day! 🏁
I'm gonna drop 40lbs out of mine by eating more salads...
That’s the last weight cut mod on the list! And that’s awesome if your doing 40lbs🙌🏼 I’m targeting about 25lbs myself. Thanks for your comment, have a great day!! 🏁
#alwaysracewiththegaslighton
Love it🙌🏼 And I totally forgot about that one; racing with 1/4 tank or less! Thanks for adding to the list, appreciate your comment, thanks for watching, have a great weekend!!🏁
Put down the donuts
Yesser, that is the last weight cut item! Thanks for watching 🦾🏁
@@PaulDaFox Welcome Paul!
@@Lethal_Venom 👊🏼🏁
but slow is fast how many foxbodies ive seen parked at the house or on side of road..while my stock mustang keeps goin by~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
💯 I hear ya brother and super happy that your fox keeps going for you🙌🏼 As mentioned in the video, the list was created for the track guys looking to squeeze every tenth possible. I appreciate your comment, have a great day! 👊🏼🏁
Selling the cats will literall pay for the off rd h or x pioe and part of headers so ..do it
100% the value of those precious metals within the cats have gone through the roof; hence were seeing all the cat thefts from trucks etc. Thanks for watching, have a great Sunday! 🦊🏁
Crash bars?
💯 forgot about those, but certainly taking the front and rear off will cut some more weight. I’ve been think of doing a Part 2 to this video to add a few of these that I missed. I appreciate your comment and time for watching, have a great weekend🙌🏼🏁
Wow! For me to be 205 lbs I have shave off at least 100 lbs! LOL 😂 👍🇨🇦
You can do it brother if you really want to!
🦾🦾
It's said every 100lbs is a tenth 1/4 mile. Leave the Old Lady home and eat more salads....
That's my plan, anyway. ;-)
Yesser, that’s the general consensus to a certain power level. Don’t worry I’ll be joining you eating the salads for my personal weight cut 🤣🦾🏁
yeah but 350 pounds only gives you 18 hp thats not a big enough gain for me
Morning Jeremy, I hear ya but for the drag race enthusiast it all adds up at the end of the day. Thanks for watching, have a great day!! 👊🏁
You could drill 1/2 inch holes all over the body 🤷🏼... I wouldn't, but you could 😆
🤣🤣
This is really just a how to make a race car.
Yessir, basically to make your fox into a drag fox. Thanks
Real easy way is to stop riding with friends.
💯agree…these weight reductions were geared more towards the drag strip where your riding alone already. Thanks for the comment, appreciate you watching, have a great Sunday! 🏁
Removing the engine n trans will save a huge amount of weight too, you forgot to mention that..lol JK!! Lighter windows, that's also an option if you're gonna do all that..
Lol🤣 this list was created for just the free stuff that we could remove. I will be doing another video on reducing weight with the best replacement parts such as you mentioned the lighter windows, hood, converting from power windows to manual etc. That said, I appreciate your comment👍🏼 thanks for watching🏁
@@PaulDaFox You're right, I forgot about that part.. head n tail lights removal helps too, tape could cover the holes.. 🕳
@@P71ScrewHead 💯 I have a few videos lined up ti cover all these areas such as Budget Drag Racing mods etc. Thanks for your input and ideas; it’s much appreciated🙏🏼🏁
@@PaulDaFox I appreciate your quick replies.. I like the Fox body but I'd like to build a RWD Nissan b13, full weight is just 2,200lbs.. ;)
@@P71ScrewHead Thanks, I prefer replying right away (if I can) versus having comments build up. A rwd Nissan b13 would be kool and of course super light🦾
