I think that so many of us are here for Dev and not specifically Magic that he could easily branch out. My vote for first is a video related to Chrono Cross.
A lot of these takes make me think that Dev is trapped back in 2001 for playing magic, lol. Love ya, but sometimes (always) the old school really shines through. I think a good vid for this set for you in particular to do would be to rank card references/callbacks in a tier list from it.

Turn 1: fetch + find swamp, play bauble, Nethergoyf
Turn 2: thoughtsieze, fatal push their 1drop, swing with 5/6 nethergoyf
Also, amped raptor chaining with burning tree emissary is comparable to playing rhinos, on turn 2.

Winter moon is great in the decks that can play it. Heavy basic lists can make it spicy
I have a mathas edh deck that does nothing but board wipe and destroy creatures and I run every “return creature from ANY graveyard”. So quest for the necropolis is a great new addition for me.
Gonna have to snag some of that Strictly Squad swag my dude! Or talk to the one spearheading the merch front...

I can't pin point it yet but there's going to be some crazy mono black aggro recursion themed deck around Spymaster's Vault and Phyrexian Tower. I'm already adding both to my Madness deck. Bloodghast and Bloodsoaked Champion already on top of the 1 and 2 cost madness spells is going to make for some shenanigans. Outside of that you have cards like Gravecrawler and Reassembling Skeleton so I'm sure there are combos to be had there. Does Priest of Forgotten Gods sneak in to relevance? Looking forward to brewing with the mono black in this set.

Nadu in commander in particular I can see becoming an absolute menace, I think its a plausible ban but then kinnan is legal with all of his go infinite mana issues - at the very least it has similar problems in the format that Prophet of Kruphix did.
Marionette apprentice is also on my list.
The lands-matter Omo-fronted MH3 Commander deck would HATE Winter Moon. My wife just wore me down with that Commander deck.
I have nethergoyf a 5/6 turn 3 pretty consistently in muldrotha.
As I was putting together my Teshar EDH deck I saw Glaring Fleshraker and knew how silly that card would be in the deck and after a few playtests: I need bad ;p LOL

The only argument I can come up with against Winter Moon is that it hits your non-basic lands. Still a gross stax piece. Also, it will make you the enemy of your commander table.
Sometimes a cat channel, but when we're really lucky, it's a dog channel.

in legacy flare of cultivation seems sick with veteran explorer
Winter Moon doesn't stop fetches, which makes it significantly weaker than Harbinger.
What if you run that leyline that makes every creature every color of mana, then you can run any of the flares in your deck.

Yeah. These cards makes me wonder why Zulaport Duelist isn't being mentioned. I know it's not a MH3 card, but look at what this monster does. Flash in to kill your Ragavan. Flash in to shrink your dude and then sacrifice to Flair. Flash in to kill your Bowmaster. Unless you have another one. Also can Come in and target itself for a Nadu trigger. If they scry to the top.... Mill it. If they Surveil and keep it. Mill it. This card goes up in value. Big time.
it still bugs me that winter moon isn't snow. apparently they just hate the supertype so much they won't even use it when appropriate anymore

I just don't see Flare of Cultivation happening turn 1. I'm missing some key information here.
Like I can see it doing some good turn 2 off a coiling oracle or some other value etb-2-drop. What are the value 1-mana etb-creatures in modern though? What would one sac to this? Gilded Goose for that juicy food token?
Or are pros REALLY now playing a bunch of green 1/1 1-drops that say "you may play an additional land this turn"?
Like, Flare of Cultivation still actually sounds good to me in EDH. So many value etb creatures, and ramping turn 2,3,4 is still very good, maybe that creature happened to be equipped with a skullclamp. Sounds nice, sure. But how and where and when is this ever going to be a turn 1 play in any format?
Arboreal grazer?
It's Aboreal Grazer and Elvish Pioneer. They allows you to hit 4 mana on turn 2. This is The One Ring and Karn mana.
Let's say you are on the play and go T1 Grazer and Flair. Your opponent goes Turn 1 Dark steel Citadel, Memnite, Spring leaf Drum and pass. You go turn 2 Karn. It's GG.
Let's say you are on the draw against Burn or Prowess. They do their stuff and you play The One Ring on turn 2. Now they can't get the turn 3 kill and you can deploy threats to get in the way of their guys.
The card is good.... Really really good.

I mean I KNOW the interaction. I was actually browsing scryfall yesterday for green 1-mana etb for anything elses besides pioneer or grazer because it feels... too weak, if you do it at any other turn than turn 1 to me.
Or are elvish pioneer and arboreal grazer actually played because they're a bit like 1-mana chrome mox/mox diamond? (card disadvantage for t1 ramp)?
Are people really going to play elvish pioneer to make this happen?
@@paulszki Grazer is already played in Amulet Titan decks. I can see Pioneer being like copies 5 and 6 of it. Having just 4 isn't quite enough.

@@lloydlineske2642 thanks again for elaborating. I'm super surprised that elvish pioneer is actually a card. Like I was around during onslaught (but only played casual) and I'd never even considered it being a relevant card. (also the ugly artwork didn't help)

Card I'm most surprised to not see here is Powerbalance. It's kinda the hidden most powerful card in the set. More for Legacy and Vintage, but surely modern can use a free spell here and there... Especially if you are playing against a deck with mostly, only, 1's and 2's. Your deck should probably be built that same way. If you get like 4 free spells from this....

Nadu gives that ability to each creature. The parentheses is to denote that *each creature will have that ability.*

this seems like draft shaft and like jank tank bank internet smack the notice of non-black cards being like tributed to itself in game like worse than a yugioh feel is some thing distracted by internet memes and suggest white trash cards that don't oblige by what seemd to be a card game like up to 10x was like interesting but the damn and shame that 402 mechanics that can't play make this deck and then ask after looking at your car for nine hours and scratching ..
