Awesome Lophs, Lyn 😊 Definitely among my favourite cacti, too. Can never have enough in the collection haha. They certainly are some of the worst for attracting spider mites, though 😡 Thank you for sharing with us as always. Have a wonderful evening from Edith & myself to you & Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
So happy you love Lophs so much too Daz :-D they are so awesome with their appearance and so wacky looking, but they really are spider mite magnets haha, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday today XXXX

That outfit you've got on suits you so well with all the colors! I wish Lophophora were freely legal worldwide because like you say they are just lovely plants. I wish the legal angle was more focused on keeping people from taking wild ones rather than keeping people from growing them. A lot of cactus collections in the USA have one or two anyway because the usually prickly, usually older cactus keepers are rebels putting their foot in the sand, "We will grow cool cacti!" 😆
So happy you love my funky coloured outfits haha, its such a shame that these wonderful Lophophoras are not more freely legal worldwide, and yes we are determined to be able to grow cool cacti haha, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday XXXX

Lovely Lophs Lyn 😁 I was impressed that the Huichol tribe used to up sticks and travel 300 miles every year to harvest them 😎 I've grown a few from seed but they're still very small after a couple of years. Hope you and Hans have a lovely evening ☺☺🌵🌵

❤awesome! Lophs are my absolute favorite. I have several. I actually have one that has 2 blooms in February! They are kept inside next to a wood stove and get water once a month throughout winter and every 2 weeks during spring/ summer. Awesome channel 👍thanks for sharing your knowledge ❤

Listening intently to your tips, Lyn. I only have one of this (a gift to me) as it is illegal to sell them here in the US. We can grow them from seed, gift it to each other, as long as it is not sold for profit. So I don’t know much about its care. Thanks Lyn! 😊
So happy you have one of these awesome Lophs Ana :-D and thats so good that you are able to still grow them from seed and gift them with other growers, thanks so much Ana for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER to Las Vegas for a fantastic Friday XXXX

That's awesome Lyn!!! I always like the old ones!! In fact my two original ones are the oldest plants in my collection ! They are 44 years old now!! I originally got them when I was 18. From. A friend I knew in high school. As two cut tops. I rooted them up and have had them ever since. Along with a few seedlings I've grown up. Even grafted one. Shame the spidermites love them so much!! I always have to beat them back from my lophos you have quite a nice variety in your collection!!! Thanks for sharing these beauties!!! Glad you like the arrowhead !!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌷🌿🌹🍀🌴💐🌸🪴🌷🌳🌾🌱🏜😃👍
WOWSERS Clyde and your two 44 year old Lophs, thats incredible and so awesome you got them when you was just 18, oh wow, we would love to hear your story on yours too, and so fantastic you have grown some from seedlings too, argh yes the spider mites really love these Lophs haha, thanks so much Clyde for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Deb and your Mom lots of love and happiness and PEACE, LOVE, PLANTS and PLANT POWER to Morris Park for a fantastic Friday today XXXX
@@desertplantsofavalon well , the story I won't put out on UA-cam showcasing them for security reasons. But here it is. When I was in my last year of high school, a friend of mine told me a guy at the beach gave him a bunch of peyote buttons. Of course you know what they were for. I really doubted him cause this was very unusual. Not something heard of on the streets. So I was like hmmm, probably not. Just some common cactus he was given and told him they were peyote. So I told him, hey I will take a look and tell you if they are. I had seen pictures in cactus books, but never in person. So I went over to his house and sure enough he had a nursery flat full of them!!! First time I had ever seen them in person!! I was quite excited!! Not for their mescaline, but for the rarity of having these special plants in my collection!!! Wow!! These were all harvested cut tops. No roots. But dry and ready to root!! So I offered him 5.00$ for two of them. And he sold them to me!! I took them home and put them on sandy soil and misted them till they started rooting. Success!!! So from those two I had them bloom easy and they seeded by them selves and a couple of more came up and grew up. Then I started some a few years ago started a few more. Spidermites killed a few. But still have about six more now. One of my seedlings that came up on its own I grafted and it has the largest head of all of them. And now has 4 offsets. But the original two are now 44 years old!! I would not, and have never consumed any of these. Such a waste!! I love them too much!!! And also I'm not interested in hallucinating, uhhh!! Or getting horribly nauseated 🤢!! No thanks!!! I do love plants with a history!! Kinda like Euphorbia resinifera. A long history with mankind. Yes it's still illegal in the usa to grow or possess them. But it's not something they look for like other drugs. As I say, they are a rarity. As long as they are not being farmed and sold, Collectors are not bothered. Even when I went to Drummonds cactus and succulents nursery, they had some very nice ones !!! But not for sale. I see them in people's collections on UA-cam but they never say anything about them if they are in the US. Only folks such as yourself in other countries talk about them. I have seen one guy in the US talk about them. But I believe it's risky. But yes, that's the story!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌷🌿🌹🌻🍀🌴💐🌸🪴🌳🌾🌱🏜😃👍
Nice story behind your first lophophora thanks for sharing
That plant is as old as me😂, I have no clue if I can legally grow them where I am which is a shame cause I am so envious of your collection.
haha at this Cactus being as old as you, these cacti really are amazing and wacky to grow and its such a shame that a lot of states stop growers from having these beauties, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a fantastic Friday XXXX

We have some here in Amarillo texas in our scrub grasslands and remember seeing one that was MASSIVE clumped in a huge mass together i almost thought it was fresh cow shit cause thats how it looked like when i was 15 im 21 now and it pains me to think all that old growth isnt there anymore because of human expansion its such a lovely plant "natives" ingest them for ceremonies but i dont know if that happens here id like to grow some from seeds but i just dont know if itd be appropriate for my space id like create a permaculture garden of "natives"/"non-natives" and ornamental exotics so i can eat from my yard while also supporting local current eocene ecology i say current cause flora and fauna will change as the climate changes which is controversial to say but to me climate change renders "native" vs "non-native" completely meaningless in terms of evolutionary ecology.
So yeah i just dont know where it would possibly go, i find it funny i always say im a cycad person but i find myself adopting more cacti they've just grown on me alot and they do so well not even my tropicals outgrow my cacti i hope i can grow some maybe i could do some guerilla gardening and start planting them around
Thats fantastic you have Lophophoras in Amarillo Texas growing in grasslands, argh yes its so heartbreaking that human expansion is wiping out so much natural habitat, it really is awful with all the natural habitats and rainforests being destroyed by humans, so happy you are adopting more cacti and it would be so awesome for you to create a permaculture garden of natives and non natives and ornamental exotics, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Texas for a fantastic Friday XXXX
