Good idea. I probably have a big torch like that I ought to modify. Thanks 😀 👍

I think it would have been neater to have used a couple of LiIon 18650s and a separate USB charger/voltage regulator inside the old block battery case. Then we could have made use of the original spring terminals. I have all the parts required to do that, but this was a simpler conversion. It would still have needed a charger cable to come out of the torch case or you would need to take the battery out to charge it.

I could have done this a lot neater and tidier, but the bottom line it that it works, and I only used items I had in my stock.

I'm attempting to do something like this to two lantern flashlights. I bought a bunch of these little 8000/4700mAh power banks from Walmart and they have a low current charge ability to charge small devices. They fit perfectly inside the light but three at once prevents the light head from going on so two it is. I'm either going to use Velcro strips and stick the power banks to the inside of the light or use some type of foam and stuff them inside and then just use the 5v output of the power bank. I'll charge it by removing the head and connecting a USB to the power banks I have a 1 USB A to two Micro USB plugs type cord.
I have another light I'm building that used a 12 volt 8 AA battery holder and a 12 volt ceiling floodlight bulb. It seems to work well I just need to find some way of mounting the holder inside the light while at the same time making it removable for battery replacement.

You can get something called a panel mount extension micro usb and it would make that other flash light look neater

Yes you could, I wasn't trying to make it look neat, just functional, using what I have available 😊👍

Hi Grandad. Watched both today's videos. They open on my TV app at 720p. Default The app can support 4k if I force it to. The max resolution available was 1080p. The videos were clear. Did you record at 1080p or 4k? I know some of your videos were in 4k. Just wondering if I should stick to 1080p with my videos. 👍

99% of my videos are 1080p My favourite video editor cannot handle output at 4K although it will read 4k files. Also I find 4k just takes too much disk space and takes too long to upload, so I stick with 1080p.

@@GrandadIsAnOldMan I use movavi video editor but the pc specc is a little short. It does crash the 4k stuff but can get away with 7 mins. Takes about 25 mins to create raw 4k youtube video then 2 hrs upload. While still recording 4k I might downscale it to see if makes any difference. Those are torches by the way. Those 6v batteries have been around a while. Remember messing about in the 70s with them. 👏
