They shoot just fine from a tree stand. I've used Hoyt Super Rests on some bows since 1977. I have the NAP rest on a WARF bow, and it also works just fine from a tree stand. If anything, arrows will shoot smoother and with better consistency from an elevated rest.

It was the first thing I recognized that has to be the quietest recurve I have ever heard and I own three myself and I have shot multiple.

I heard sanlida will be producing more of the hermit x10's. I'll be able to buy one next month. I got a financial blessing that will allow me to afford one. My only problem is going g to be figuring out how to set it up. It seems much more involved with an ILF bow compared to a standard recurve

Great to hear you're able to get one!! I struggled a small amount getting the limbs aligned, but... nothing that stopped me from adjusting the limb adjustment a few times and... bingo! The rest of the set up was pretty easy. I built up the striker plate THEN did limb alignment using a nocked arrow and set the limbs to 2mm left of centre shot. It's shooting lovely! I did watch a couple of UA-cam videos on ILF limb alignment, and basically came back to what Jeff said, centre the string with the holes in the riser where limb poundage lock screws are. Then I adjusted the limb alignment to 2mm left(right handed shooter) of arrow alignment with the string.
      You'll love the Hermit X10!!

I assume you've already seen this video for ILF set up? This is the one I followed instructions for, and I did check other videos re: limb alignment(which way to adjust the screws, and remove grub/set screws before adjusting the inner adjustment screws). But this one from Jeff made it simple.

I just received my beiter limb alignment modules and checked my limb alignment I did by eye, and I was out by 3mm!! I aligned them using the beiter clip guages and now my Hermit X10 is shooting even better than it was, and it was shooting nicely. Boy these Bows are great Bows!

@brettellis423 I know nothing about ilf bows. I'll look into that alignment tool you mentioned, so I'll have it on hand.

I'm so glad I got it! It's called a Beiter Limb alignment gauge. And it's the one that clips onto the limb near where we fit Bow quivers! (There are some Beiter gauges that fit on the limb tips, you DO NOT want those one's!)👍👍👍

I will be shooting my new NAP rest from my ILF bow for the 2nd time. It seems to draw easier which I like. I have a 🌳 with 2 footholds east of the house. I will have my saddle on & climbing up with my new climbing rope system. I have 4 3D deer targets so the double 🌳 setup will give me more angles to shoot @ for a more true test. I am really interested how the bare shafts shoot from above 🤔. 🎉😮

Well 16 arrows later from a 🌳 with half of them being bare shafts went very well. Last year with my 19" ILF riser my arrow tune was very good but in a 🌳 my bare shaft was nock high. My Pandarus Icepoint arrows aren't finished yet but out of 2 dozen almost half are fletched & what I do know is that with my 25" riser with 44 lb. limbs that my bare shafts are a little bit too stiff. However I'm not accustomed to shooting out of a saddle with the 68" setup, especially on the closer targets. Some of my best shots were @ 19 yards with bare shafts w/o the steeper angle with the 13 to 15 yard targets. The NAP Flipper is very forgiving & all my bare shaft angles were equal to the fletched ones. That wasn't the case last year with an arrow shooting off a built up strike plate radius shelf which consistently shot tail high compared to the fletched ones. I'm SOLD on the Flipper & can't wait until I have more shots logged into the shot bank so I can start shooting the 19" riser which will take care of the slightly stiff shaft issue.😮😅🎉🎉.

when I first started archery I had a compound bow and shot with a flipper rest off the shelf and shot with a glove split finger I have never had one problem with that set up other than the arrow wearing a grove in the plastic cover for the rest

The NAP flipper never gave me any troubles when I used one. I did try other elevated rests(stick on) with a plunger that did give me troubles with my arrow coming off the rest. It had a metal arm(no plastic cover) with magnetic retainer. My draw wasn't smooth back then, but the NAP flipper never bumped the arrows off at all. I tried expensive rests and plungers and they didn't perform as great as the NAP flipper. I'm still shooting off the shelf though.

If using a stick-on rest on a one piece bow where the site window isn't cut so far past centre, would it be better to use one that doesn't have the plunger?

Elevated rest are the way to go, especially on an ilf rig whether it's a springy or a flipper. Even on a wooden riser I prefer an elevated rest like a turkey feather rest.

I have a Das dx5. The elevated rest is high.. I had to make a 1/4 positive tiller to quiet that bow 3 fingers under.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  5 місяців тому

Hmm that’s very possible with a 15” riser, my DX5 was setup with longbow limbs and I shot it off the shelf but I’m sure tillering would definitely change moving up the string on a short riser 🤔

I have a bolt top hole with a rubber bumper and Velcro. I have a bolt in the bottom hole and the head of the bolt is ground down to adjust so not to hit the riser. I put rubber tubing and Velcro over the threads for the arrow to sit on. This set up sits the arrow a little higher than my other bows therefore I needed a 1/4 positive tiller as my finger sit higher on the string...

Does using an arrow rest with the raised nock height make shooting a bow that is tillered for split finger like the
sanlida royal X8 shoot better than the finger position of 3 under off the shelf?
Also, when you say that when shooting split finger the sanlida just shoots better than if you shoot 3 under, is there a difference in arrow speed?

When you’re freezing your nuts off in a treestand I prefer shooting off the shelf.
One less thing to worry about the arrow falling off the rest. . Accuracy is the same up to 15 yards which is 90% of my shots here in the big woods and mountains of Pennsylvania.
