I got both the Whitetail Maxx and Alaskan XT, both of which I put up reviews on ArcheryTalk.
For my Whitetail Maxx, I received this bow with the bottom cam drawstop slipping past the cable. I had to shim the cams on their left (edit: mistakenly said right) sides to 7/32" to get them perfect, putting my arrow at 7/8" centershot. I also cut off the 4 string grubs and installed brass speed nocks with shrink tubing in their place, and installed cat whisker string silencers in between them. This quieted the bow way down, and reduced noticeable hand vibration. I also finally got their Paw grip and it made the grip sit so much better in my hand as it has a flat surface. This bow is a real shooter!
Compared to the Alaskan XT, the Whitetail Maxx has a much better backwall with no squish, and holds really well on target. The Alaskan XT holds real well on target as well, and is also a real shooter with the speed nock change and cat whiskers. This bow is super quiet - as quiet as the Phase 4 and Lift!

I put a sand trap string stop from Hi-tek on my WT Maxx and it really made a huge difference in noise and feel. I adjusted the length of the stop to make it a bit shorter than the OEM string stop

Addicted to flagship bows (Prime in particular, Bowtech 2nd). But if I were looking at mid-pricepoint bows, this would be on my shortlist.

Best way to put it! I had a Bear Whitetail Hunter as a kid, would be fun to own a bow with the same name

I've been a big Bowtech fanboi since 2007, but recent events have caused me to change my loyalty to Bear. With Bowtech, I'm going on my 5th week waiting for a set of cable rollers and mounting bolt/axle for my Prodigy. I emailed them and they said they have the parts in stock and should have taken only a week to get. So, don't know if my dealer failed to place the order or if Bowtech dropped the ball, but 5 weeks now is absolutely ridiculous. I'll stop into the dealer tomorrow to find out what's going on. Bowtech should have just sent me the parts direct and all this could have been avoided. All-in-all, thinking back the 20 years I've been shooting and working on bows, I must have wasted 2 years of my life just waiting for parts from Bowtech. When I needed cams from Xpedition, they sent them direct to me in a week, and under warranty, so I didn't have to pay a dime!!

I believe that Bear's flagship bows can stand with any company. Wish people would truly consider shooting Bear when looking at premium level bows. Turns out for me, I just seem to shoot Prime with greater consistancy vs all other brands. @@l.i.archer5379

I went into a shop in Sherman TX the other day and they looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears when I asked if they had the Bear Alaskan XT.

Typical, they only want to sell you a $1300 product because that’s what they carry and want to make $$$ on. You asked bow that is just as good at less than half the price and you upset them. So they tried to stare-shame you into believing you should be spending way more than you need to. Very typical for pro shops. This is why I don’t even go to my local pro shop. They hate Bears because they destroy their upper end market retail sales. (Turns out most people, if given the chance to choose between a Bear and a way upper end up bow, go with the Bear because it offers 98% of what the upper end bows do) why would a shop stock such a bow? I have the Alaskan XT. I almost got a Matthew’s life but I liked the Alaskan XT way more. Also bought it online because my local shop won’t stock Bears that eat into their top of the line products. If consumers shoot a mid level Bear like this one or the alakan XT and compare it to a Matthew’s or Hoyt, assuming there is no insane brand bias, people prefer the Bear.

This bow has flagship (EKO) cams on it, which is why it has a flagship draw cycle.

My Whitetail Maxx (bow only) came with a hat, the Alaskan XT didn't.
