Morrison's JLA was spectacular and clever as hell! Might actually be my favorite Morrison work. His take on the JLA and some of their classic villains was nothing short of breathtaking. He even made dorks like The Shaggy Man formidable. His run was unforgettable, perfect mix of the cosmic and the entertainingly mundane.
How dare you make me aware of this omnibus being released.. now I have to be irresponsible and buy it for myself. But seriously I’m so glad I found this channel now that I’ve started collecting omnis!
This is my introduction to the Justice League in the comics, and I love the fact that Grant portrays these characters as being so overpowered. I’m not gonna say any spoilers for the people who wanna read it, but what Aquaman did to Züm.....I legitimately freaked out like a giddy child when I read that. It’s been a while since I’ve read anything that has gotten me that hyped.
Nice overview Omar. JLA back in the late 90s and early 2000's is my favorite runs of the characters and I do plan to get this Omnibus at some point great stories and amazing artwork !!!
My favorite JL series of all time I LOVE this era so excellent and absolutely deserving of all the hype. The cover is meh and I agree on the 1 million inclusion vs other stuff. It would have been nice to just go with JLA Omibus Vol 1, 2 etc that way we get it all and no orphan issues given how much good material there is. The sucker that I am I'm still getting it LOL.
I realized somehow over the years I downsized my dc collection pretty much only own Johns lantern, new teen Titans and a few Batman books....and then I ended up maximizing my marvel and manga collection. After watching the Snyder cut it inspired me to want to read dc more than digitally. Came across this video and now I grabbed this omnibus and the brad meltzer deluxe. Thanks for always helping me decide with your amazing videos!
It's on the way. Grant Morrison is always worth it even if I wind up not liking the stories cause he always presents interesting ideas. Can't wait to see what he offers up this time.
I will be picking this up along with the Mark Waid OHC next year. I really enjoyed the first few arcs of his run and seeing that the binding on a book this big isn't as bad as I thought it would be, I'm really excited.
I was two minds about getting this mainly because of orphaned issues, but after watching your earlier video about Mark Waid's "Tower of Babel" OHC? Oh yes! Get me my copy of Grant's JLA please!
Whenever Uncanny Omar puts out a new release video, it just confirms that it won't be long until my copy is on the way!! JLA Omnibus by Grant Morrison, & Batman Road To No Man's Land are two from my DC Omni wishlist!
Now I just really need a Mark Waid JLA omni including Midsummer’s Nightmare, JLA Year One, and his 20 or so issue run after Morrison’s (and some during).
Wouldn't have to make two Omniboo with Azteck if they didn't put all the One Million stuff in. Now the question is whether to double dip on the rest of the JLA fat trades for Babel
I really love this run. Read it twice already. Morrison kicked ass with his huge blockbuster-type stories, depicting the JLA members as modern gods. But I think I might prefer Joe Kelly's run. I thought his take was phenomenal. Maybe the fact his plots were more character driven. And the Martian Manhunter story... Damn ! I Hope a Joe Kelly's omnibus will happen someday (and Mahnke's art deserve the oversize) Great vid as usual Omar, thank you !
So far I’ve decided to pass on this but I watched your vid because I was curious what it contained. Like you I read this in the 90s and it was really my gateway series into comics, and this wasn’t a scenario where I wanted DC to skip over material not written by the main writer. The Midsummers Nightmare and Paradise Lost minis were really kind of important parts of the narrative, and the guest issues by Waid, Millar, Priest, etc provided some of the best character-focused stuff of that run. I’m kind of hoping DC will just do another TPB run that’s more comprehensive.
I got myself this omnibus and of course the Tower of Babel Deluxe Edition as well. I had forgotten it was by Mark Waid, so I was surprised not to find it in here. IMHO both books are totally worth buying though. And I agree, a Mark Waid JLA omnibus would be great to have.
I have the same binding problem at the end of issue 1, as you've shown in the video. But the page seem to be pretty well glued there, so it's fine. Nothing coming off
So back when Morrison made the JLA 12 members, there was a wizard magazine article showing Grant Morrison cheat sheet with the Greek Pantheon. Is that in here? I remember Huntress was Artemis, Superman was Zeus, Wonder Woman was Hera, Flash was Mercury, Aquaman was Poseiden, and Batman was Hades. I thought it was cool and would like the others.
Thanks for the overview. I was on the fence about this omni and then this video just tipped me over to a purchase. Love the interior artwork and anyway I've been stocking up on Morrison.
As much as i'm stoked to have another Morrison Omnibus in my hands, i hate that there's so many DC 1 Millions issues collected in here, as you said. But at least, we have it

I'm being 100% serious. Marvel prints more and still sells out. It has to do with faith on the product. So many people don;t have faith that DC will continue making some lines like Batman by Snyder.

@@comicclub thanks
I see Couch has you covered. :)
So does this book contain all the material in the dc one million omnibus? Because I was thinking about securing that Omni.
Not at all. Just about 12 issues from that omnibus.
I'm so behind, I thought this was coming out in like a year. This is probably my favorite run on the team, though I never read Morrison's last stories.
WW3 was my favorite JLA story he wrote. SEconded by Rock of Ages.
Man I’m really on the fence of buying this . I already have all the material but man would it look cool next to my other Grant Morrison omnibuses. Great review was always.
I'm surprised it took this long to get here.
Anything I need to read prior to this omnibus?
Does it include "JLA Tower Of Babel"?
I did a separate video on that OHC so it doesn’t.
Omar do you think Dc will do another Jla omnibus collecting the rest of the jla issues post Morrison
They are doing Waid's run in OHC, so I hope we get a Joe Kelly run.
Rock of Ages was peak 90's comics.
Yes sir.
As a comic lover on a budget, would buying the four JLA deluxe editions be a comparable collection to this omni? Or are those editions missing too much?
Those editions are only missing the 1 Million issues.
@@NearMintCondition Thanks for the heads up! Your channel is the best.
It's not just you. My copy had the same issue on the binding with the first 20-30 pages or so.
Why are the covers missing? Isn't this one of the first omnibus to not include them?
They are all in there. I showed a couple of them.
Does this collect EVERY page of the DC One million omnibus?
No it doesn’t.
Glad Dc finally collected this after a decade. But I am sticking with thick trades as orphaned issues are not my thing!!!
I completely understand.
Is Tower of Babel collected in here? Also sorry if it’s addressed in the vid I’m skipping around because i don’t want spoilers
Sadly no. There will be a deluxe of that. I usually leave spoilers out of my overviews, but I understand.
@@NearMintCondition Thanks for the reply, appreciate all the work you put into all these vids including the caution you put into not spoiling even old stories. Just a being overly careful since this is all brand new to me and currently on its way in the mail this weekend. Ive only seen the tower of babel movie and was hoping id read it here but looking forward to the deluxe now i know its coming!
I hope you enjoy them!
I'm here for the Omar ad libs, not the issues the edition collects, lol.
My man! :)
My copy is coming December 9th because my country is in quarantine, I can't wait!!!
I hope you are staying healthy and safe.
@@NearMintCondition thank you, I am
Will there be any more JLA omnibuses?
One OHC coming next year.
@@NearMintCondition Does this omnibus have the fight with Doomsday?
Should I get this or would the Scott snyder batman omni be better
This to me is better, but understand the love of Snyer Omnibus.
@@NearMintCondition thanks it is a really hard decision to make both seem like a great option
@@drydenbaker5046 I completely understand.
mine should arirve tommorow....finally can read the whole thing together
Hope you enjoy it.
any news on black friday sales at CGN?
They start on that Friday for sure. Might last a weekend.
