This resurrected my city. I was there. I lost everything. I retired from the USMC, moved back home, and had this crap to deal with. Thought we might lose our Saints. I love them from day one, Still have my season tickets.
I remember this. Was just sort of expecting some football game snooze fest show. This was one of the most emotional, amazing, musical and stunning performances ever. One of my top live moments ever. Up with Queen at Live Aid. Just amazing.
This was shortly after I had just moved into the dorm as a freshman and I was feeling homesick. I remember watching with my roommates in the living room area. I started to cry because I was already feeling emotional, but the emotions of the performance put me over the top. I was so embarrassed and thought I had made a terrible first impression on my roommates. As it turns out it wasn't that terrible after all because one of the guys became one of my best friends.
Same here. At first I thought this was just the Edge guesting with Green Day. All right, that's cool. Then it gets to being something special. Gives me goosebumps every time. I think the Edge's atmospheric guitar works with Green Day. It would be an interesting album.
i was there for this first saints game back sfter katrina.. and let me just tell you the air was electric.. and this was something very special.. i love u2 and green day for doing it. thank you
+bglad4life ACTUALLY if you watch the "2002" half time show...THAT is THE greatest of all time....U2 performing and paying tribute to the 9/11 victims....TRUST ME.......it is E.P.I.C
I honestly cried when he sang "After the flood, all the color came out". I truly believe that every rescue worker, and every NOLA citizens smiles when they put the hard time behind with "A beautiful day"
This meant so much to me, it was after my daughter had committed suicide. She loved the Saint's and football, and with the storm and all we went through, she would have loved to have seen this.
kathy sclafini I wish my mawmaw could have seen this too. My mawmaw was my mom (just didnt give birth to me) and a die hard saints fan. Still does not compare to losing your daughter. I have lost most of my immediate family before I even made 30 and i still say Happy Birthday to them. It is a celebration of the life they had with us and should always be remembered.
Mary Lapara I release balloons on her birthday. Yes, they should be remembered, I'll never. Forget. Toni was a die heart Saints fan also. She. Came to me to tell me they would win the Superbowl. She passed in 2009.
I remember watching this game (Falcons @ Saints) on TV...one of the few NFL games where it truly was over before it began. The energy and emotion, the Falcons had no chance...
Section 618; Row 8…..what a beautiful day it was!! The Saints we’re definitely coming that day!!! Still think of those electric moments before during and after!! The opening ; the concert; then the blocked punt by Steve Gleason!! The party was started at that moment and beer went flying on everyone!!! Blessed to have been there!!
7/29/2017, viewed for the first time. I am a fan of both U2 and Green Day. The musicianship and beautiful vocals from both bands along with a horn section from New Orleans is so powerful. It gave me chills and such heartfelt thanks for this performance. I was happy for all those who attended. The intent was to bring Hope and I know it did. 1.) When September Ends, 2.) The Saints Are Coming, 3.) Beautiful Day. Edge had this perfect plan and texted Billie Joe to set it into action. See the interview before the show, Edge says he could hear Green Day playing The Saints Are Coming and said U2 and Green Day are kindred spirits. For all those making negative comments about either band, please reconsider. These musicians have worked hard their entire lives to get where there are it was not handed to them. They are the experts here and are using their talents to help people during a crisis Music risin'.......
Saints Are Coming , has become an anthem here in NOLA. We never forget that magical day in the dome. This Sunday the Saints Are Coming, as they do every September....this time of year is always a rebirth for me. WHO DAT!!!!
This is crazy good. Every member played off each other wonderfully. Tre Cool was having a ball. Edge putting his touch on a Green Day song, awesome. What the f they need to do another collab.
I was probably 7 years old when this performance happened, and I was in the nosebleeds with my whole family for this game. It was the loudest cheering I’ve ever heard in my life. I remember crying when they played this and not really getting why. Almost 18 years later and I’m crying again watching this because I’m finally old enough to understand what I witnessed back then and what it meant. My dad replayed these recordings for months after. I didn’t know until now that I have this whole set memorized. It seems like such a small thing that a football game and 10 minute set could restore the hope of a whole city but it really felt that way to me.
The dislikes on this video have to be from people who's hearts drowned long before this came out. #heartless This is a beautiful tribute and uplifting medley for a city and a region that lost so much all at once. Anyone who disliked this is so far removed from what happened there nothing could show them light. For all the people who get it, shine on! :D
It's a crime that they didn't get to do the full version of Beautiful Day. It was way to short. And I know I can't be the only one who wants to see Billie on stage with U2 again.
Not really a Bono, or U2 fan, but he knocked this out of the park for every New Orleanian, as did BJA and Green Day, and especially Trombone Shortie and OUR crew of great musicians!❤️
Best night of my life. The impromptu second line down magazine street was magical. All ages and colors, we survived with not much but our saints! Plus it was the falcons ⚜️🤷🏼♀️
This performance was so uplifting and genius. The 3 song choices, including brass segments and U2/Green Day collaboration. God Bless the US and these musicians with a heart to inspire and give hope. Also see U2 super bowl 2002; m.ua-cam.com/video/pH5tHgXS-2M/v-deo.html

When "I love Billie's hair" is a favored reply I wonder, Anyway I am a New Orleanian, and this night was a turning point in the darkest of times. Thank you Green Day and U2 from the deepest depth of my soul
Gonna be in New Orelans this summer. Believe me. I do not play American Football. But if I would be on that pitch. I would destroy everyone. What a performance!
