Okay, what's this about?
As a Zimbabwean, I've been watching your videos since 2020...it's been awesome watching this channel grow and learning from you guys!
I would be happy to be the last country. These shows have developed so much since the early days and recent countries get better and better videos. Hopefully Zimbabwe gets a special one to celebrate the journey :)
The suspense you must have felt waiting until the end for the video about your country is insane, lmao. I’m excited for that episode, I’d love to learn about your country!
Also a Zimbo here. The day Barb asks is the day I jump up and send him my video. So excited for that episode.
I’ve been watching him since 2016
And now it’s Lead to This!
It's so weird to think that the country episodes are almost done. It's impressive that you managed to cover so many countries
Well it had to be done at some point!!!!!!
@@spicewaffles9169 I guess so
Dang
took them 8 year's that's crazy!
@@admraycountryballs Yeah. Almost a whole decade
Barbs, maybe you should update the first country episodes. They were short and concise and now you developed a very complex format.
I think that every country deserves to be analysed with this wonderfully crafted format that you developed.
I think that could hold him a little bit back for these new projects he wants to start. That'd be a really cool idea, and maybe he might do a couple extra episodes once in a while to revisit the first countries with the new format
Or maybe he could do a short and brief segmented all in one compilation video just like he did with the plug sockets and the flags In the side of the road they drive on
He deserves a break to explore the world first
I agree. Minimum 2 hours, to host someone famous from that country and to actually been there.
Here's something you could also consider: For larger countries with lots of different states or regions like the United States, India, or China, you could do more in-depth looks at each state or province.
But for now, I like the idea of actually traveling to interesting locations. You deserve it man!
Looking into states also doubles as countries considering states like Texas for America or Galicia for Spain were once countries and are known for their unique identities
@@compatriot852 Yes! An entire episode on Texas and its unique culture/history within the USA would be very interesting. I can think of lots of states like that. An episode on Utah would be fascinating considering the unique religious composition within the US and the history behind it.
I was thinking about that too, maybe I could be a guest on Georgia 2: Electric Boogaloo lol
Great minds think a like. Barbs could also do ancient countries etc if he can find enough info to talk about them too maybe 🤔 I mean I would watch
I feel like if they did states within countries, it would make sense to co-jointly cover historical regions cause a lot of states don't correspond to former countries, allude to them in name only, or were created with the intention to erase the history of a country that used to exist but was annexed by another.
As a Zimbabwean 🇿🇼, I started watching this channel since the Argentina episode and couldn't wait until you got to my country. Wow, time does fly as we're finally reaching it. I was also fascinated by Atlases too when I was a kid. Was drawn to them as I wanted to know where the colourful airliners that used to fly into Zimbabwe in 80s & 90s came from and how far they had flewn to get to us (I'm a bit of an aviation geek lol). I travel as much as I can and Geography Now has been a great resource as a starting point when I research destinations.
Zimbabwe? More like *Occupied Rhodesia*

I‘m Zambian 🇿🇲 and have been watching for 5 or 6 years now, can‘t believe it‘s finally happening 😂🎉

You will ALWAYS be the Geography Guy! Nobody can replace you. Speaking from personal experience, you've inspired me as a Geography Teacher and you've inspired several of my students. That's a legacy nobody can take away from you!
Geography Now inspired us to start our own channel, "Love Your London", going alphabetically around London, area by area, over twelve years, looking at the local sights, history.... We wouldn't have done it without your inspiration. I think it's going to take more than twelve years, though. Three years in and we're still on B. 🙂 Editing Barnes at the moment, looking forward to Battersea coming up next.
Love Your London!
Do you planning to work on other cities in England or UK?
You should cover colonial terriories like Puerto Rico, French Guiana and Bougainville, or disputed territories (that AREN’T a risk to your life if you were to visit)
Ngl I’d like a falklands episode
@@TheIconicWatermelonsame
Id like to see such episodes too. On the other hand, these would be much more divisive than the current content and therefore much more psychologically demanding for Barbs and therefore much less enjoyable for him to make. Tbh id just love to see him do videos from around the world.
Hopefully he can do a proper bona fide episode on Bougainville in a couple of years!
Or unrecognized states like somaliland
To think I’ve been subscribed to this channel since the A sections. The fact we’ve finally reached the end of the official list is making me feel damn old

I'm a Zimbabwean who started traveling mostly because of inspiration from 2 channels: Geography Now, and Sailing Uma. Currently in the Philippines because of that Philippines episode from 2019 which I watched the first time I was out of Zimbabwe (I was in Capetown South Africa at the time) and when the South African episode came out, it was so accurate, confirmed everything I had learned there. I'll be going to Montenegro in January, another country I learned about from this channel. Glad you are covering my country now
I've been with this channel for the past 7 years and I will stick with it when the countries are over. Geography and also history are the subjects I excelled at. I was always looking at atlases and maps as well when I was younger (now 46) and I still look up stuff on Google. Congrats Barb for all your success. Much respect and love from Canada.

yeah exactly what I was thinking, those overseas territories need more recognition and stuff. Wait @sn48231 why???

I would suggest remaking old episodes to keep them up with new standards. Like special dedicated flag episodes, and more in-depth country episodes. Just compare Afganistan and Albania to any of the last episodes.
Since, as you said many times, people use them for educational reasons and it would also be fair for people from those countries too. And definitely graphics could be better updated
100% THIS
Totally agree. The first 1/3 or should totally be updated.
I agree 100% Early on you left out so many sections that we love, not to mention so much has changed in some of those countries!
I wanted to post basically the same comment. I think you could also combine some of these with travelling to the countries as well, so you would also get your wish for travelling and meeting people from different places.
A lot of people want that, myself included, BUT he has been doing it for over 10 years, and he was very clear here that now he wants to do different stuff outdoors.
We need to respect that as well.
As long as you don't disappear on us I am happy
Yeah
It's been a great project! I've loved the journey. As an Aussie, I'd love to see you re-do the early A-C countries in the current format. I want to see Hannah talk about George Miller, Art talk about AFL and Noah talk about Vegemite
I second that!
I think taiwan and kosovo really deserve dedicated full fledged in studio episodes. Taiwan in everyway is an indapended state and typical western style republic. The only difference is Bejing doesnt want them to be reconized. Kosovo functions as well as a partially reconized balkan state can, which is suprisingly well.
Been warching for years, since China I think, keep up the great work.
I had the same interests and curiosity about the world as you when I was a child so I studied Anthropology. Now, I am a diplomat for the United Nations and have lived and worked in 10 different countries over the last 15 years, and travelled to many more. Fun fact: I always watch your video as part of my “study” prior to an interview for a post in a new country. You are like the Cliffs notes for Geography. It’ been particularly useful for the more “obscure” countries such as Gabon for example. Great work!
@brainybananas Hi I know this is odd and random but I'm actually curious and interested in doing international work and I'm currently in school for Anthropology. I just don't know what to do with it and how to get there. If you'd be willing to spare a few moments of your time, how did you become a U.N. diplomat? What exactly are your responsibilities?
@@chloesucksatgaming4563 I gained some international experience by studying abroad in a developing country. Then, I got an unpaid UN internship, then another. After that, I was a volunteer for a few years and received a low stipend. Eventually got regular staff positions in interesting countries. Essentially, you have to start at the very bottom and be ready to spend years in remote/unsafe environments before it gets better. Competition is fierce and lifestyle not compatible with family life.
I started watching Barbs in 2016 whilst I was looking after my newborn son. He now turns 7 on Friday and it has certainly been a ride! Well done getting this far bro!
I do support your ideas to diversify the content and direction you want to take but many of us will be waiting the Taiwan episode and the other partially or non-recognized states in the world. Just as you I love to see territorial disputes and the history behind them.
Best wishes and congrats for the coming this far!
You will forever hold the title of the Geography Guru! Your unique contribution is irreplaceable. From my own journey as a Geography Teacher, I can attest to the profound inspiration you've provided, not just to me but also to countless students. This legacy is an enduring testament to your impact.
It's quite remarkable to contemplate that the country episodes are nearing their conclusion. Your ability to comprehensively explore such a vast array of nations is truly impressive.
I was wondering if you’d redo the older episodes with the way you do episodes now because I’m sure people from Afghanistan and Fiji would love a 25-30 min instead of a 6-12 min video.
I’m sure you’d get a lot of people to get these videos up even get more hosts, researchers and behind-the-scenes people to make it happen
Lol you do have a point! But I guess it's just luck of the draw. I love the long ones.
Yes, I also thought about that. I want a longer Australia episode!
Ive been watching this channel for it feels like a good portion of my life. Since bangladesh. Back then I was in middle school a kid just like you barbs. Your channel has been there thriugh the key points of my life and inspired me to go to school for geography. Im becoming a map maker and local planner now! Im 21 now and starting my journey. Excited for this channel to come to a close as I have been invested it feels like since day 1. Such a fun thing to see a channel like yours grow and change along with myself growing and changing!! Thanks for making an amazing series, your creativity will take you far as a informational story driven travel host.
I was introduced to you by my Grade 4 geography teacher. I'm now in Grade 11 and still love your content. We love you Paul! You have inspired my passion for geography!
Whoa. You want to know something weird? I was also placed in special education, but it was mostly because of my autism. I had troubles with my motor issues and other troubles when I was younger, but I didn't feel like I was really learning anything in there, so I told my parents, and they moved me to a different class. I think that my life would've been far more different than had I not told them, and your backstop for this channel relates to me on such a personal level, it's unimaginable. Keep doing amazing, Barb! I love your content!
I remember seeing the Albania episode on my recommended page years ago, and middle school me thinking that a youtube channel dedicated to describing all the countries seemed like such a great idea. Years later, to see you so successful and able to do something that you and so many of us enjoy, is heartwarming. Wishing you all the best Barbs, very happy for you.
You kept me alive during the pandemic, Barbs. You are the best UA-cam channel there is.
It’s crazy how this channel is still going strong! I started watching in middle school and I’m in college now. Keep up the good work!
I am Greek and I wanted to make a video for Greece, but after I saw your video I realized that it was way better than anything I was going to make. I really liked it, you do a really good job and I congratulate you, keep doing what you love and loving what you do.
I’m a fan from Taiwan, I’ll be thrilled if you guys would come here some day to film!
Did you forget he skipped over us due to a self imposed rule that he must use the UN's list which contains China's oppression of our identity?
You mean China (CCP)?
Barbs let me start off by saying that as an Armenian-Iranian, I absolutely loved this channel, and honestly what you said sounds amazing and I cannot wait, the only thing that I would really appreciate is, honestly, I know that you said you “don’t wanna do the studio thing” and you wanna go see everything for yourself, but I think it would absolutely fascinating, educational and cool if you (for example) did a “country coverage” on a place like Wallis and Futuna or Niue OR ANY OTHER AUTONOMOUS REGION, point being I know that the smaller the countries the less information there is out there but IN MY humble opinion, that is what makes Geography Now, Geography Now.
Like I said I think the ideas for the future of the channel sound amazing and I’m going to continue and support you guys, but I’d love to see the coverages of the regions and territories and what not as well, it’s just that, that’s what made this channel THE CHANNEL for me, because think about it, who else is going to make a 30 minute video (which I don’t think is long, just the right amount) about St. Pierre and Miquelon on UA-cam?
Overall, I hope you see this, I love this channel and content, either way it’s you’re channel and you make what you know is best and if you don’t enjoy doing what you do then it’s not right. So do what you have planned but hopefully if you see this, please consider it, love you Barbs❤️💪🏽🤩🥲
I think he should absolutely travel to these unknown places and show us things we’ve never seen before
Agree that would be super interesting! I commented he could cover the autonomous region of Transnistria in Moldova f.eks. there are a couple of autonomous regions in Europe and Asia
I think he just wants a hiatus from the country videos, but I'm sure he will get to them eventually some time

Congratulations on completing your UA-cam mission barbs, I wish you the best in your future endeavours. Barbs! You should definitely continue the series by re-doing the first countries in the alphabet (at least until letter C or D). The quality of your videos now is so much better and deeper than back then. Of course, take your time and explore new things, but I think everybody from those countries (myself included) would really appreciate it and help you out with it!
He's been doing this for the last nine years..and id much prefer to see him do stuff he enjoys the most.
@@L4wr3nc3810he could balance it by stretching out remakes per 3-5 weeks, and he probably can save effort by reapplying the same narratives and knowledge of them. ~50 A-D countries full of content could last 3-5 years.
Also could save effort skipping out on flag fridays since he already covered flags, saving more energy.

I found your vids when I was looking for stuff on Algeria. You were either in the As or Bs when I found your content. I still have yet to head that way, but just know I've watched since then, and was particularly happy when you talked about Canada, India, Malaysia, and Ukraine, as these are the primary cultures we talk about as I am a part of all of these. First of, dear Barbs, I gotta say that we share the same passion about our world and learning about it. You are one of my favorite content creators out there and for what it's worth, I, personally, do enjoy the current length of your videos. The new path you have chosen to take the channel to sounds fascinating. Sounds like a great idea and it would be really amazing to see it grow even more in audience and content, too. I'm sure the true geography enthusiasts will keep supporting your effort and energy you always put into your work. I'm just so happy that after the Zimbabwe episode there will be more content to look forward to!!🥳
Barb, I cannot tell you how much I related to this episode. My passion in life has always been the intersection of history x geography. My interest in geopolitics would have never intensified in 2015/16 when I first started watching Geography Now. I was obssesed with your videos, and watched them incessantly (binge-watch). I am also a visual learner and you have given this community so much of your time and adult life. I am really grateful to have come across you when I did. I love all your friends and their little stories and the platform you have given them too. I am so excited to see what you do after Zimbabwe!
Been here since Germany, I remember watching and then binge watching the previous ones. Always loved it and as a teacher who dealt with MUN events in junior high I always recommended my students to watch your channel for their info.
You all in the team are great and have grown so much!
I’ll follow you guys until there’s no more Internet in the world! ❤
Thanks for that overview of Geography Now! I’ve learned loads about countries I’m intrigued with thanks to you. Please keep posting videos. I’ll definitely keep watching. Tremendous resource.
I trust you'll bring this channel to its natural next phase! Thanks for all your hard work!
As a side note, for anyone else who may be wondering, a job that you can get if you're interested in people/culture from all around the world is a language tutor. I teach English online and have met a lot of interesting people from a lot of cool places. :)
Thank you for all this years of work, I'm not a geography fan and still I end up watching every video. The way you share all this knowledge, sometimes controversial topics, in a friendly and open manner is a gift.
I'm glad that you continue, you really seem to be born to do this.
And besides travelling around the globe you could do a Geography "then" episode or section with past countries and borders, I'll leave the idea in case you find it worth it.
Your contribution to the geography lovers here on UA-cam is like no other. Probably the best format ever (especially nowadays with all the segments), a lot of charisma and humor from the entire team, which makes your videos fun to watch, even for the people who are not really into geography.
You should be very proud of yourself and your team and I know I am looking forward your future endeavours!
I first found your channel five years ago and as a geography lover also this became one of my favorites.
Kudos for all the progress. I've being watching since Brazil's episode.
Your plan sounds fantastic and I'm glad to hear about you continuing the channel! You are a great documentarian and a story teller, and in my opinion it makes your channel a staple of youtube and your content will be great no matter the format.
I was worried the channel was going to die....but I'm so thankful to hear your new plans. I love travelogue content, and really love your travel videos. I've known about you for many years and I'm thankful to see that you'll keep going into the future!
I've been watching for years now, I love travel and information about countries. Such an amazing channel!
I would just like to say, thank you so much for your videos. My brothers and I are homeschooled, and we use your videos to help us learn, and I’ve learned so much from your channel. You make learning fun for people who might not care about those subjects otherwise. After we finished our geography curriculum, we kept on watching your videos for fun. Again, thank you so much for all you do! I know we will be here supporting you with whatever you decide to do next ❤
I grew up with this channel and I love it, I helped with the Moroccan episode and it will be amazing to have you here and show you the beauty of Morocco
Keep going man, we LOVE you.
Also, the "flag/fan" episodes are so cool, I don't know why it has low views !!
Been here since the Belgium video. You've inspired me to create my own channel on the NL even. So thank you Barbs. Looking forward to the future changes you have planned for your channel!
Congrats on all your success! I’m going to go watch the heritage trip now! That’s a special story for sure. Somehow I missed that notification.
damn this almost came to an end, feels weird
I love Geography Now, it's my favorite channel that talks about geography and countries! :D
Thank you for making this channel and these videos, Paul and team, we all have learned so much from you!
Keep doing what you're doing man, been with this channel since like 2017, be proud of what you've done and where you can go!!
I just want to say thank you for your time and effort. I have been following your channel for years and I have learnt so much about the world.
Time flies, isn't it? Thank you for keep doing this all this time. You're already become a part of our journey in UA-cam
Here are ideas on what to do next!
- Old countries that no longer exist
- Redo the super outdaded/old episodes
- Territories such as Puerto Rico
I love watching, and for some reason i am so excited for the Vatican episode since it's so small! So love for this channel from a mexican in Texas! 🇲🇽
Thank you so much Barbs! My family and I have loved watching and learning from all your videos on each country!!! Can't wait to see what you do next!!! Cheers!!!
