I Love the Presidential tl …Grand Sequia not so much, having said that I happened to put on the Grand Sequia and Celotex Presidential tl for both companies first sample boards, the customers both got free roofs for the use of their homes on national sample boards and literature. Both homes were next door to each other in Sherma Oaks ca..Since then I’ve put on hundreds of presidential tl’s and landmark tl’ s and less than a dozen grand Sequia…FYI Celotex created the Presidential tl and Ambassador shingles to go after Cal Shake etc. Certainteed bought Celotex to produce both shingles…They were a little thicker and heavier under Celotex but they’re still my go to shingle…
I understand the TL/triple laminate weighs an additional 125# per square, would these withstand hail comparable to the IR or is it that you need the SBS modified asphalt to achieve the class 4 impact rating? Also, would the 6th nail in each shingle raise the wind rating to 130mph?
4 nails = 110mph rating 6 nails = 130 mph rating The SBS protects the surface of the shingle. The thickness of the TL product would help protect the shingle backing. I'd go with SBS if it were my house. ( I actually do have the Northgate SBS product on my own home).

May I please ask what color roof shingles these are?
I'm not exactly sure since we didn't install it. It looks like Autumn Blend maybe?
Is impact resistance about appearance or leaks?
Depends on the brand and style. An SBS type shingle is about preventing sub-surface damage to the shingle.
