I've been meaning to do this reaction for years but I kept forgetting. The 80th anniversary of D-Day seemed like a good time to finally sit down and check out this portion of Saving Private Ryan, where they stormed the beach on June 6, 1944.

After 26 years, this movie still feels like the most realistic look at what these guys went through that day. 😢
My mom and dad were 3 years old by the Normandy landings. Both were born just before the Japanese took control of then Malaya.
It’s a very powerful scene
This stuff still gives me a damp eye. As horrendous as this scene is, the reality must have been so much worse. And the thought of these incredibly brave men, how they felt etc just stuns me.
It also angers me how the freedoms these guys fought for are so easily given away.
A truly truly great generation.

It's not lagging, it is filmed with hand held to capture the true intensity of the landings. It is filmed as if being seen through your own eyes witnessing the carnage and that was done intentionally to give the closest approximation to the actual landing.
You really should watch the whole film and when done jump into "Band of Brothers".
Guys?! they turned into real men, and frankly they were proper men unlike what w ehave today. But they were really just kids.
Yes, guys. They weren't female. Guys is also a generic term for a group of people. They endured what most can never comprehend.
