Mike is expressing some of my thoughts here. I find myself increasingly wondering how publishers will keep doing new, interesting things with roll-and-write. Even the perfectly nice one DT did a playthrough of the other day - Mind Space - I just thought to myself, "Huh, that's a cute little roll-and-write." But that's how I feel about so many of them now! So many of them already have pasted on or negligible themes, they're just starting to feel like very slight mechanical variations on three or four truly individual designs.
Not coming with pencils is pretty sleazy. I hate the idea of signaling to publishers that this is “ok”. Yes, I probably have some, but I also probably have dice… I also own a printer. At some point you approach PnP territory or I’m paying for a box to hold the PnP in.
What are those row of games on the shelf in the lower right corner, behind Mike? They look intriguing, and all of them seem to be part of the same series or something? I can't quite make any of the names out.
I liked it quite a bit. I do agree it's scratching the same itch as some of the others, Hadrian's Wall for example. I just play them both :) It got 7/10 from me, quite a good game with great art and familiar actions.
I personally like it that you compare it to the genre in general. I own a bunch of these already so it’s hard to know which new ones are worth adding

Yeah, in a crowded genre this game screams underwhelming.
