In your opinion, why do companies feel like they have to penalize candidates if there are gaps that are out of one's control? What if you have a 5yr gap? I did a lot of jobs where I got paid under the table, like running the front office at a busy dental clinic. And walking peoples dogs, taking care of their pets and driving, elderly neighbors to the grocery store and running errands for them, cooking and cleaning for them. All of these things were under the table. Do I include them on my résumé?
