I'm expecting a similar session tonight Gaz. I went bait digging this morning and there were several Dogfish that had been caught out by the tide, over the shallow rough ground that leads onto the lugworm beds. I managed to save 2 that were still alive, but unfortunately the rest had been out the water too long or pecked by gulls. I had a cracking session at my local mark last set of spring tides, with 6 sizeable Bass in 1 night (I don't eat them, so they always get returned) and a few sizeable Dogfish that I kept for the table. Just hoping they haven't moved in in plague proportions, as this tile last year I had 70 over 2 nights.
The problem is when they stopped inshore bottom trawling they failed to realise that was actually a way of keeping equilibrium in the inshore waters. Now the bottom purse producing fish are so prevalent they are going to decimate other stocks. Good old scientists eh!
You can hear them barking out there.
What's happened, have you stop fishing gaz
