I love these older light bars! These old sealed-beam bars give that distinct "pop-flash" you can only get from a genuine rotating directed beam light bar system and the mirrors really multiply the flash rate. I love LED bar technology but I love these old bars way better :)
Thank you, Yes they are original Code 3 domes, You kidding me Green Twin domes are harder to find than these! But I am on the lookout for them. Wish me luck!
Although it was merely placed on the roof for the purpose of the video, the bar is actually backwards. The speaker grille should have been facing to the front of the vehicle.
This looks like it's brand new. *greenrefrigerator* said it best below when he stated these old style rotating light bars are the best kind of emergency light still today because of it's "pop flash" effect you can only get from a genuine rotating beam. Sealed beam rotators used to be THE technology of the day, then came reflector rotators with halogen bulbs (non sealed beam). Strobes became fashionable in the 80's, then LED's completely took over. I miss these old rotating lights :>\
The lightbar is NOT mounted on the car! I just placed it up there to make the video, I am not stupid enough to drive around with a collector lightbar that has extremely rare green domes on my car. The lightbar is safe and sound, on a shelf in my display room, protected from UV rays and stones kicked up by tires.
The only way to make this lightbar better would be to get rid of the flutted lenses and go with all spot type lenses for a better "punch" / flash! Sweet bar even in green!!
code3s are a pain to take apart just recently sold my XT for 85 like ta never got it back together now i have a federal signal Streethawk and Jetstream
It does indeed! I search high and low for these lightbars, I get them from everywhere. Do you have a 91 crown vic? I have a 1990 for sale! The one in the video is a 1991.
It used to mean Department of Homeland Security guarding government Instilations like a Military Base to separate them from the Military Police. Like the Army's Safety Unit and the Terrorists Response Unit. Airport Security used to use Green because its easier for pilots to recognize most of the runway is lit up with Amber Lights . Boats use a combination of Red & Green. Green Lights also break through the fog better than Amber . In Alaska Green is used to indicate a Snow Plow Service. Some Emergency units use a Green Light to indicate who the Chief is . In the military we used green to indicate the command vehicle .
Green is used by the Department of Homeland Security. Goverment Security, Search & Rescue. To indicate a Emergency vehicle not linked to a Law Enforcement Agency like the Fire Department. A Storm Chaser might use green.

Decent incandescents have the same efficiency as LED but with better spectrum outputs.

beautiful lightbar
I personally like the mirrors, they create a nicer flash pattern, but I would like some flashers maybe on the rear.
Great piece of equipment.
