Cleaning aluminum parts can be tricky! Luckily, with the correct chemicals and brushes, a corroded and dirty aluminum piece can be restored to nearly new again. In this example I am working on some Honda CRF450 parts which are available at www.revivemoto.com.

Build your own heated parts washer shown in this video! goo.gl/pmuSfK
Cameron Niemela where did you get your pressure washer cabinet?
You should use the pressure washer after the rim cleaner might work even better also try using a heavy duty acid for rims
That mini grease gun is pretty nice. What kind of grease do you use with it?
I have a heated parts washer for $10... Double boiler from a yard sale.
I also use a $10 walmart hotplate, and a $7 large WM stainless spag. pot. :-)
@@chadhandrop4339 he won't answer you because he's too busy cooling his water and degreasant bath down from the impossibly absurd 150 degrees. I'll apologise on his behalf.
Can't wait to try this on my Honda CRF450.
All I need now is a heated degreaser tub, pressure washer, big laundry tub...and a Honda CRF450! :)
It's amazing that there's someone out there that has the integrity to actually clean up parts that they're selling!! Good work!
Thanks for all your tips.My youngest son broke the crank in his YZ85.We decided to take it all the way down to the frame, cleaned lubed and replaced things as needed. To say the least its looking great, thanks to your help. Can't wait to get it back going.
My days are always better when Cameron uploads, you're awesome man!
Thanks for taking the time to not only post this but also everything else about the video like cleaning supplies, camera and music. Wish more people did this.
Man I just found your channel. I’ve got to say I’m very jealous of your workshop!
Really like your video not complicated and the result is great!
From Quebec, Canada !
Great work Cam. Everything looks great. U always do an excellent job.
Great tips here, thanks for spending the time to show how it's done right.
Cameron, nothing you do amazes me. You are so talented and so cool about the GIFT that you have. Thanks!
Excellent instructions on cleaning and restoring aluminum motorcycle parts. Also appreciate the details on greasing bearings and the mini grease gun. I will use these techniques in my restorations. Thanks much!
Great vids! I like the fine detail put into your vids such as removing/installing and repacking/greasing bearings etc. Stable camera work as well.
Not some shaky video that misses the fine detail...Great Job.
Thanks for watching!
Another quality video Cameron. I would love to see your thoughts on the the Napa Aluminum Brightener vs the Eagle one.
I've pretty much used your method for years but I just used a bucket. Loved that pressure wash cabinet. I use my pressure washer but no cabinet. I also used SOS pads. They work pretty well too.
Thank you! Lots of good tips for cleaning aluminum car parts too.
very good cleaning, everything very clean like new.
awsome vlog !!
Great job. Its nice to see some actually clean stuff up before they go to sell it. I'm digging that mini grease gun and the pressure washing cabinet is perfect. Have you done a shop video about your tools?
Have the process down like a boss. Nice work.
Lovely vid as usual! I'm waitin' for a complete 2stroke engine rebuild! 😎
Such satisfying videos. Keep up the great job.
Great tutorial and camera/audio work!!!
I’d love to see a video on your parts washer cabinet. The red one!
Shane Conley same here! Looks like a great setup
It's a sandblasting cabinet. Not much good for sandblasting if it's wet inside, but a few simple changes between sandblasting and pressure water and it should be fine. Just remember sand doesn't like water, any water. But you can also use glass beads, nut shells etc in the sandblasted for cleaning up stuff like this.
Ozzie Manly Man ..actually its a vapor blasting cabinet..Water vapour.
29 bucks for his "course" lol
Aussie Manly Man you should check out pressurewasher sand blaster. It mixes sand with the water stream. No dust and no heat
Thanks bud! Have a bunch of MR2 parts that need spiffing up. Works a treat!
Massive respect for you man!
Your videos are great! I learn so much from them😄
Good ideas & tips, thanks.
So satisfying to watch bro. Nice vid again.
Great video , the parts looks amazing
Diligent work, fella! 👍🏻
Interesting, and not boring. Could be of help to me in the future. 2 thumbs up bro!
Great job Cameron. Thanks for share.
Wow I stumble in your channel, I can't believe it prince Harry on u tube , with some serious skills to be royalty.Great job man thank s for sharing.
Thanks for posting this and sharing your tips. Is there a specific reason why you don't remove the swinging arm pivot bearings before you soak and clean the aluminium?
You should make a video showing the setup of that pressure washing cabinet. Good video. Great results.
I am addicted to your videos nice work as always. I do some restorations too. I use aluminum brightener made by purple power. Its only 9 bucks a gallon. Keep the videos coming. Take care buddy.
Great video Cam...I really like how you took a sandblasting cabinet and turned it into a pressure washer. Thanks for posting!
Cool vid. Love watching these
Wow.... thanks for NOT having annoying music and for the tips!!
Thanks Cameron, i learned something new today
The pressure washer in the blaster cabinet, GENIUS!
Thank you for information and video on how to get it cleared
Killer video Cameron! Awesome tips and cleaning process! I’m doing a full restore on a Husky TE449 that came from the BMW facility.
Your shop, tools and efficiency makes my “moto shed” look like a lean-to shelter haha.
Keep up the hard work brother🤙
Hello Thanks for the video. Do you have any information on your cabinet pressure cleaner? IT looks like a simple media cabnet, but how are you running the pressure washer?? thansk
you can buy the whole setup at harbor freight
Yes! Love the little grease gun
tons of great info, tx! [ music too ]
Hi those plugs you use for the calipers where do you get them from they are awesome
I've seen you use that cleaner in other vids and it seems to work pretty good. Do you know how I can get it in the uk?
Nice job man!
Looks great!
I've been using etching wheel cleaner for about 30 yrs. & it does work great, it's not too good with black plastic stuff under the hood of my truck so a little patience is best if doing an aluminum manifold like brushing it on in sections & rinsing often for anyone trying it. comet & a scoth brite works good too, my 70' Triumph center cases & head are bright white aluminum. Part of keeping things simple after it is clean is to wash everything with "Dawn" dish soap and water on a regular basis. I was taught the dish soap routine by a 3 time national speedway champion who's house I kept my bike with, after each race the clutch, carb, throtle chains, everything off the bike & into the bucket of soap & water!
Can you put a link to that pressure washer you are using? Thanks...
"he whatsup youtube fam" *closes window.
What the hell is fam????
Thank you for your AWESOME videos, I definitely picked up several things to take care of my bikes. I do have 2 questions:
1. where to get that compact high-pressure wash machine? (it looks like Harbor Freight Tools "Sand Blast" Machine, but with water, which I've never seen before).
2. What are you using to heat up that Simple-Green solution in that tank, Is that premade machine/tank with a heating element? Thank you again. Very cool stuff.
Nice job, nice video, thanks!
Great video your great at what you do
Hi. What kind of adaptor do you have on a front of a greaser gun ,have a part number ?
Thanks
Are there any precautions you have to take before throwing the break cylinders and calipers in the parts washer?
Nice work sir!
1) What are you using to heat the degreaser/water mixture?
2) Is that pressure washing cabinet just a converted sand blasting cabinet?
amazing video and nice job!!!
You make it look so easy!
Thanks for a excellent video
great job
My 2017 husqavarna te250 has very minor frame surface rust where the paint has chipped up how do I clean it up and paint it with out disassembling the whole bike thanks and been watching your channel awhile I also have a cr250
Shall use this for my 99’ KTM :)
What did you do to convert the sand blast cabinet to high pressure water?
Cameron can you tell me about the grease gun ?? Where i can find ? Thanks ..Great job
Hey man, I see that swing arm came up really nice! but I also see that swing arm is made of box sections and welded, but would this process work on a cast aluminum swing arm? as on ktms? cause they have such a rough surface and they've been CNC'd in some spots for part access? I'm thinking it would clean it pretty good, but not as good as the swing arm you did though. I dunno? let me know if you've done cast swing arms before?
cheers!
yo, rad channel. just wanted to let you know the spotting you've experienced on the sides of the swingarm is due to the clear anodizing process that is done to the sides from the facrory. also, noticed the axels looked a bit rusty, you can thread the nut on them then use your impact to spin the axel while holding the axel with scotch brite, also works great to make sure that the right side end of the front axel slides easily in the right fork to prevent binding of the forks, after cleaning it and applying some grease an old axel should slide in nicely. you can do the same thing with that long head stay bolt as well to clean the rust off
Buenas eres un maestro.Desde Granada.Gracias.saludos
Great video..... any links or info on the grease gun tip? Thanks
Pressure washer cabinet is a cool idea. Does it double as a sand blast cabinet too?
Your work is emmaculate I love it.
Sure is! Especially if by emmaculate you meant immaculate, and by immaculate you meant "clean"!
Thanks for the video really needed it my bike looks pretty bad since my mud race
Oh..thanks for sharing
Great video! What is the ratio of water to Simple Green ? Also love the idea of heating it up . Thank you
...very nice shop!
Im about to try out that mag wheel cleaner its like 5 bucks at autozone but is it only for cast surfaces? And where did you get a bucket of it
Kiff setup you have in your workshop! Please do a video on replacing a old chain, removing chain links and how to set the chain tension.
Thanks! I have a video on that here ua-cam.com/video/ldpkh4Tpch0/v-deo.html
Thanks For The Video
Your pressure in the red cabinet. Did you put thatc together or purchase ,I like it
Cam where did you get your pressure washer cabinet?
Hey I'm rebuilding an entire ej22 engine and I'm having difficulty cleaning it. Do you think the mag wheel cleaner would work?
Cameron I noticed you using an impact to get the Kickstarter apart then camming the Phillips drill bit out. The little dimple on the screw head indicates it's a JIS screw not a standard American Phillips. If you get the right driver it won't destroy the screw. You alternatively can grind the tip off a Philips to make a makeshift JIS driver.
Hi cameron can I use any old wheel cleaner or must I use eagle 1.i cannot buy eagle one in my country any info would be greatly appreciated great vids also !!!!
Where have you got the grease gun? Great tool with the needle
Where u get your parts washer from and how much ? Thanks dude
Straight facts here.
Ayyyyyyy jacky boiiii
PancakeWaffle yeoooooo
your megaphone video was straight fire!
PancakeWaffle thx homie I'll be doing more with that
Thats good! Have a good day!
Good job.
You are SO thorough
Is it possible to make an alu frame with a lot of light scratches and fading look new again?
I see a lot of older CR's for sale but most have frames that look all scruffed up and i want it to look perfect..
NukaMoto he has a couple videos where he shows his process with frames and they come out flawless. If you want the scratches out use high grit sand paper 600 then 600-1000-1500-2000 one at a time and then use mothers and buff it and polish it and it’ll come out in a mirror finish. That works on any al frame
Use autosol aluminium polish and old white socks to rub. When you feel the grit wear down use more. Lil dab at a time . For big ugly deep sctatches. Polish then down a tad with 800 grit sandpaper n water. Dont sand much then polish.
or some maroon scotch brite followed by sos pads for a factory looking finish, the polishing suggested below is a bit overkill and a pain in the ass to maintain
any tips for anodized rims cleaning? will degreaser hurt paint and powdercoated parts
Great videos you should do a top and bottom engine rebuild on yamaha raptor 700 theres not many videos. You do great explanations Thanks for the videos stay strong my friend
Have you ever used that mag wheel cleaner in your carburetor to get it clean?
Now you guys can clean aluminum as well as he does as long as you have a high dollar vapor blaster at home.
it’s $200 at harbor freight lol
@@MississippiMudMX don’t get vapor blaster confused with sand blaster. Harbor Freight does not sell vapor blasters and if they did it would be a lot more than $200 lol
I had some aluminum pacer rims for my 94 Chevy I just bought some aluminum brightener and mixed a ratio of the brightener and soapy water. The rims came out so good to where they looked brand new good lol
RIP bearings&seals
sakari puttonen thank you
Seriously right! Lol
sakari puttonen
Sitähän mäkin vähän mietin.....
but he pulled the inner race, cleaned it, and added some grease... 😂
I don't think that would hurt the seals but he can kiss the bearings goodby. The bearings are now filled with Simple green and water but at least the rusty pitted bearings will have some fresh grease.
I'd love to know how you built your power wash cabinet
Great audio, video, scripting. If only I had a shop and some of the equipment...
