Your videos helped me out with my first mini dirtbike. I purchased a ttr-230 and a crf150r with intentions on entering the bike build contest. I had to make sure the 150r was running before starting the project and ended up shattering the top of my tibia during one of the first test rides New Year’s Eve having a little more fun than I had originally planned lol. 2 plates and 12 screws later! Just want to say how much I appreciate the videos and that I can’t wait to get back to it.
Thanks! Good video and how you walk thrue every steep 👍
Love to see your videos ❤
Love from 🇸🇪 Sverige/Sweden
Cameron, your videos are so well produced and helpful. Truly among the best on the internet! Keep bringin' it!
you know your the only youtuber ive seen (probably not the only one on the site) that promotes safety equipment when working around stuff, and i love it,
Love watching the channel being a cancer survivor myself im glad to see you are doing good and recovered its a hard thing to overcome keep up the good work can't t wait to see how this build turns out
You are into it that is beautiful work craftsmanship at its finest I learned a lot from this vid thank you
Excellent video! The level of care your taking on a bike that your giving away shows your true passion. Everything done the right way. Looking forward to your next video as always!
Those cases are cleaner than the plates I eat from👌😂 Sweet vid🔥
what precautions do you take to preserve these finishes once you're done? any coatings or oil or maintenance procedures to keep things looking shiny and fresh?
He mentioned 3 preservation tips but the easiest one he mentioned imo is just clear coat the finished product. Whether you leave it brushed or buff it shiny you can always finish with a clear coat
Great tip about heating the parts in the oven. Was scratching my head the other day about trying to get the stuck twin needle roller bearings in the dual brake system pivot point on the lower fork leg on my XL1000v. Just tried your tip 20 mins ago on the dismantled fork lower and they pushed out with minimal force. Thanks
Brushed finish looks great! To get straighter lines dont rub back and forth, just rub one direction, like top to bottom, pick up the pad, and start from the top again. It turns out alot better normally
I’ve been hooked on these bike builds recently!! Great work :)
Hi Cameron after watching I am building a drz400 I took this one step further. I used polishing compound w/a cloth wheel and man does it shine. Thanks Cameron.
Awesome, love your videos, I also had cancer recently. Ewing sarcoma 7 months of chemo and radiation hell. Starting to set up the garage to do a total bike build on a 2004 Honda CRF250X . Picked up everything to start cerakoting. Can't wait!!
Wish I would’ve seen the use of the flap wheel earlier! Hope the finish by hand gets rid of the inconsistencies in my cases as well. Thanks for the info!
Cameron!!! That is Killer and good job showing a SXS of the different types of finishes. I'm into restoring and just getting into bikes so this is right down my alley. I LOVE the shine that clean aluminum and polished aluminum has!
Hey, Cameron thanks for the heads up on the oven tip awesome wish I found this sooner.
Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.
Play Safe From Elliot Lake Ontario Canada.
Great video, can't wait to see the end result. If that is how the engine looks then, the rest of the bike is going to look sweet!!!!
Been waiting patiently for you to upload brotha! I’ve started my build on the channel but need more inspiration haha
Really nice job. It's more like art the way you restore these bikes. I myself have restored many toys over the years but not to your level. I've learned a lot watching your vids. Thx man.
Nice job Cameron, that is a ton of work but you tackle it without a hitch and with a great attitude , like always.
Hang in there and may the new year bless you as much as the last year did.
Vapour blasting also 'seals' the aluminum making it less porous and more resistant to staining etc. Much easier to keep clean.
Looks great!!!! Can’t wait to see the engine together. Going to look amazing. Can’t wait for the next video. But till then off to order a hoodie. Thanks Cam
If you wish to maintain the motors sheen and cleanliness, spray the engine with a light coat of non-stick cooking spray before you take it out. Concentrate on the dirt "impact" areas especially.
Once done with the days riding simply pressure spray with gentle detergent. This will restore it to its original shine.
I have built show road bikes that were frequently ridden... worked a treat there as well.
Good luck and thanks for the great channel Cam. 👌
Yes Cam !
Good to see you doing what you do best man
I’m searching for my next project !
Man I was watching the majority of the video with a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see the finished engine! I have a 2002 rm250 myself.
very nice job. There are a few guys who have documented DIY vapor blaster conversions of harbor freight cabinets. Some of them sell plans/components. My fav is Armoury Enterprises
it keeps getting better and better. i have an image of your cr250 as by desktop background lol. its awesome
Glad to see you are back at it Cam, I’ve missed seeing notifications from your channel, I hope all is good.
I haven't personally used the stuff, but a builder friend uses Sharkhide marine metal protectant on his cleaned up metal. It is more of a liquid rub-on product. Pricey stuff but he has been happy with it. Thanks for sharing. The use of the flapper and scuffing bits is a game-changing information.
I love the videos. I just got my first dirtbike after a few quads and your videos are awesome when working on my new crf 150f
Remarkable patience and attention to detail.
Always impressive results from the integrity of your effort. kudos my good man.
"I don't even know if I want to put that on the bike" hah, you win the internet.
be well.
You learn something new everyday. Thanks for the tips.
Happy to see ya in the shop, this old Suzuki is going look like a factory bike.
My 01 rm had the Suzuki “S” logo embossed on the flywheel cover I painted it black and polished off the logo. It only lasted a couple of rides but it looked super cool.
Love watching these videos man! I’ve learned so much and found so many new techniques!
@Cameron Niemela ... glad you're feeling better, and good on you bud for mentioning safety!
Welcome home.. Nice work . Loving the RM build
These videos and your web sites are so helpful and full of information needed! Keep up the amazing work!
I love those sanding/flappy wheels, they eat alloy,I clean car alloys with them removing all the curb strikes, they don't mess around, using a 500w hammerdrill.
Can’t wait to do this to the rm125 I’m buying this weekend. Looks great!!
so satisfying to watch those bearings drop out!
I have to say man i learned alot off of you and your videos over the past couple of years so just wanted to say thank you! Such great stuff you put out to help others 👌💯
Hey cam just wanted to say it's good to see you back in the shop... fully support you devin and austin....even though I'm not really into the whole fitness stuff i watch bobby too..I hope everything is going well for you...send that clutch cover to a laser engraver and send a j peg of your logo.....that would be sick...
very cool vids Cameron, one tip though be careful with raw finish on Magnesium, there is a reason the OEM's paint the magnesium covers they corrode very quickly when exposed not like aluminum.
Looking sharp bro. This bike is going to be on point. Great work and great to see your doing well. Excited to see the next vids. Keep it and God bless.
Those cases came out wicked cool dude!!! I’m trying to save up some to get a few more tools to start doing that kind of finish. I normally attack it with the aluminum cleaner and scotch brite (the hard and long way). Thanks for the knowledge mon. Pryme to the bone Cam 💯🤙🏽🆙🙏🏽
Great work as always. You're the king of making old look new. Keep the videos coming!
Hey Cameron another great video. I'm not trying to critique your work because your work is flawless but as a fellow builder/mechanic I think how much time it takes to do all this stuff or maybe greate less work for yourself. I'm wondering maybe sand blasting the cases to get a nice finish and for polish putting the cases in a tumbler to save some time. It's probably more than likely you restore a lot of cases and aluminum pieces with all your dirt bike experiences. I wonder what you think about that?
I think the blasted looks the best. I love the brushed one cause it looks more unique, but blasted is just soo clean!
Awesome channel dude! You have inspired me to rebuild my 04 cr250. Keep these sweet vids coming.
Hey Cameron! When we will see you riding your CR 250R? I guess lots of fans would like to see you ripping it on your track, or with other buddies ;)
Just a FYI I stumbled on your account a bit back and have been watching since. I wanted to let you know I have been using the Napa Alum bright for years. On any engine case it will gray it out, but on aluminum like a sub frame or swing arm it will make it bright again. I think it has to do with the different material in the engine case aluminum. I will use is on old chrome wheels, new mag wheels. The key is spray and immediately rinse. DO NOT LET SET FOR ANY TIME. Also I have see a few vids on home made vapor blasters.
Crank Cases for lunch - delicious. I really enjoy your videos man.
looking fantastic as always, maybe chuck the whole
thing into vape blasting and then polish afterwards? i think the finishing kicks the arse out of projects financially you can spend a $1000 with cases, frame swing arm and powder coating.
Not only does vapor blasting give a beautiful bright finish, it closes the pores on the aluminum. So the parts should not stain again on the future. It should also corrode slower and stay nice looking longer.
Man are you a lifesaver!
warm'em up and pop they all go !! o.0
Good job man! I always have trouble getting into all the nooks and crannies cleaning stuff like that
Boiling hot water you can use a kettle :) over the old bearing area expands the alloy if you haven't a garage oven :)) 👍great show .Liverpool uk
Super Arbeit - ich könnte Dir stundenlang dabei zusehen!
Go figure... another great video Cam! Those parts turned out sweet! Sooo clean!
An idea for the future... next time you get a head in that condition, you should discuss how to measure the squish band and mating surfaces. A lot of hidden performance in is stock heads by just correcting the squish band.
Super helpful! My rear brake lever needs to be shimmed to remove some play and has been rubbing into the case leaving se pretty good dings. Any tips to build it back up or if people shim these?
Nice work Cam you are getting really good at polishing aluminum!
Sheesh love your videos makes me grow some balls to work on my kids bikes lol if I win that dirt bike I want it sighned by you the legend amazing videos bro hope all is well much love from Connecticut
that vapor blast goes hard af!!! love it
Excellent video bro. Content, quality, edit, experience, and personality on point. Can I use a short clip from this with credits in a tutorial?
You might want to try the "Purple De-greaser" from Home Depot. I use it on my Laser Engraver cutting table, and it works like nothing I have ever seen. You will want to wear gloves, and mix it to 30% solution with water. Let the parts soak in it for half an hour, and you should be able to squirt them clean with a hose. In very tough cases you may have to use a soft brush. I used an old electric toothbrush and it worked like a charm. This stuff is potent, so make sure you rinse thoroughly!
Great video man. Thank you.
Awesome finish on the cases
Would look good with some fasteners from Pro Bolt..
Espectacular!!!! Has dejado el motor mejor que de nuevo, lo que no me gusta mucho son unas rebabas que parece que se ven en la unión Interior de los carters arriba del cigueñal
Been waiting for this vid for so long! But it was worth waiting! Looks great! Keep up the good work Cameron!
wow that blasting result is epic! can you tell us which blasting material and grain size did he used for that amazing finish?
Your build are so satisfying to watch I love to watch every one of your videos
L👀ks great!! Very effective 👍👍, love the scuff pad mit lol
You are an inspiration to us all. Keep on keeping on Cam
Wanted to order the impact screw driver and the shipping cost more then the tool. Ill hit up a store near me. Thanks for the showing of the tool tho. I know ill need that with my sled builds. Thank you for showing the tool and offering us a place to find them.
That’s odd about the Napa Aluminum Bright stuff. I use it on my ‘14 CRF450R every once in a while and my cases look just as good as a new CRF engine. Never had it turned it that “grey” color.
Looking really good so far cant wait for the finished bike
😂 This 4 year old video led me to your shop for the cleaning pads. I'm restoring my 2007 RM250. Gonna polish all the aluminum on the bike to a mirror finish.
@@CameronNiemela All of your Videos helped a TON! The Best RM content on UA-cam.
Wow pretty cool ! I’d worry about the cases warping haven’t seen this done yet
Do you ever run into the issue of the crankshaft feeling tight or binded after you re install in the cases? I’ve had this issue and didn’t know how common or natural it was because of how free it rolls over before disassembly maybe the difference in a worn engine and a new tight one? Just figured I’d ask a guy who was built a few more then myself.thanks in advance
Hi Cameron, I've been following your channel for quite some time, I would love if you could do an instructional video on the 2013 KX450F KYB air forks. How to rebuild them and maybe setting them up for a rider. Keep up the awesome work!
Man i love your vids I only wish u could do a complete tear down and rebuild on a 99 yz 250 u the man😎
Those cases are so unique, love how they turned out, definitely looking forward to see what you can do with a Vapor Blaster
Keep it Pryme!
I built Epoxy composite sail boards . Painted with an aircraft paint called Imron . I study aerospace engineering. I had a beautiful shop.
My friend bought a shop from some one and just started building without reading the safety data sheets.
He would paint with a respirator only then go back into the paint room and look at his work without a respirator.
I had a fresh air supply system used many types of Epoxy
Resin . Never look at a piece after painting until it was fully cured in an oven. He had to have kidney transplant surgery.
You have a nice shop.
So when you gonna build a diy vapor blaster?
I cant wait for the fork rebuild.. Blew my fork seals on my '13 rmz 250 the other day, is the same fork type I think.
Look up a channel called broken sprocket. He has a brilliant rm fork rebuild tutorial 🤙
Power seal does amazing work. The cylinder on my CR was done by them.
Cam my first youtube dirt bike guru.. Im going through an 89 cr125 and they of course have black cases. I just got a replacement set and need to get on it later today. I was wondering your opinion on painting cases without powder of cerakote. Trying to do it on the cheap and i can prep like a sob but unsure if I should strip the cases completely (time consuming mess). Or sand down really well then start from there...mind you someone has sprayed these cases black spray paint already so im kind of unsure an would like your opinion. Great work as always man u make it look so easy it too. I love it.
man this looks so fresh. cant wait to see it complete
Man you do some amazing work and I'm taking notes 😂💪🤘🤘😉
Great to see you back! If you can rebuild this turkey......you probably could raise the Titanic.....
Better late than never exited to see this bike done 👍🏻 great work like always Cam
That was a lot of work, but the result worth it! And why you didn't send the rest of the case parts to paper blasting them so they will look just the same one you sent? Great job and keep it pryme👌🏼
Your Channel is inspirational dude. Thanks
That bearing trick would work well on front wheel drive transmissions to. Nice
Nice vid, and chilled out music as always. Just the way I like it👌🏼
Hi Cameron, have you tried a clear coat that would stop the Aluminium (yes, thats how it spealt) oxidising?
Case looks literally beautiful! I want to do this to my 06 Crf450r!
After this amazing build you should do a 250 four stroke!! I would love to see what you can do to one and what you can teach for all us 4 stroke lovers!! Other than that love the videos learned so much from them keep it up!
yeah that would be sick
I’m building a CRF250R on my channel..Cameron has definitely been an inspiration for me building this bike from nothing up
Tokenn Moto 191 I’ll definitely check it out I love the way Cameron shows things he just shows all the details!! He really doesn’t skip a part in his builds and if he does he already has a video on it I’ll love if you did the same if it it’s still ok I’ll love to check it out!
Gordon Nixon yea I’m just in the breakdown and cleaning stage but have parts on the way.. one day I hope to be as detailed as Cam! Practice is key..I can build a two stroke but this is my first four stroke build other than my pit bikes
Tokenn Moto 191 that’s awesome man hopefully I can watch your videos and get inspiration from you and build my own I hope to see it come along I’m excited to see you doing your own thing I bet Cameron will be proud haha that’s awesome how he inspires you to do it! Idc if your videos are a hour I’ll watch it all just talk about every step you do and if people don’t like it you should try and make 2 playlists like detailed ones and shorts ones for the others can’t wait to see it man!
