Discussion question: “Are the carolers into pop punk”, or “Are the pop punkers into caroling” (and does it make a difference on how awesome this vid was)?
Makes a difference. There is a personality you can feel from certain singers. Look at the" big three" Acapella groups. Each has their own specific strengths. Dan Vasc can sing anything, but really opens up when it's metal.
As a former choir kid all through school, this one just hits different. Perfectly captured how damn repetitive the low bass parts always are. Bravo, good sir. Bravo.
Right? This is essentially how every song sounded when we convinced the director to do a pop song. Like sure it’s technically correct but loses the spirit of the song lol
Given how wonderful the harmonies were, I think a Relient K song would make a banger of a carol. I So Hate Consequences, Sahara, or Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry could all be great. Awesome work, Alex!
When I clicked this link, I was expecting different versions of Christmas songs written and performed by carolers, but I am digging the a capella versions of these songs, on both videos.
Because of this I listened to the original versions of "My friends over you" and "You're so last summer". Even though these songs are good, I feel like your carol versions are just so, so much better.
I need a full length album of these! Instant Christmas classic for me. Man Overboard by blink-182 would be a fun one. That intro guitar riff vocalized across the Alexes would be pure gold.
The choral version of the Middle, by Jimmy Eats World just hit me hard in the heart. I cried, and kept crying all day listening to it. The song recontextualized the lyrics, and changed it what just used to be a rando radio pop song. I cried not because I really ever felt like I didn't fit it. I cry because I'm now an adult trying to tell kids the message. The choral hits me hard, because it is my prayer and the message I wish I could give. Growing up is hard, and I wish I could make it easier, and make more sense. I'm going to practice singing the song now. Thanks Alex.
Pulled it up for a quick laugh with the wife before watching our Christmas movie. Then we got hooked and she wanted to keep watching just as much as I did. Love this!
Bad Religion’s punk Christmas album saved Christmas music for me after working retail during the holidays totally killed it. From then I found out basically all the pop punk bands I love had come out with Christmas music.
Amazing video! The first song hit me right in the feels, beautiful rendition. For the next one is think Sugar, We’re going down by fallout boy would be awesome to “carolize” . Thank you for all the work you do!
We absolutely loved this! I lost my mind when you threw out the Fa la la during All the Small Things! This video was one of my favorites and we have seen them all. Much love, Alex.
Hey Alex, what an awesome wrap of 2023. I saw your message on Spotify for you being one of my top 5 artists of 2023 😅! Didn’t even realize I’d listened to that much Alex this year! Here’s to an *even* better 2024! 🍾
Excellent selection. What a pop-punk way to get in the holiday mood. I could see you having alot of fun with The Starting Line - Best of Me; low harmonies on the palm mutes and then..... TELL ME WHAT YOU THOUGHT ABOUT WHEN....
The "fa la la" during All the Small Things was a beautifully subtle touch
“Silent Noight”
It's funny this was uploaded the same day as Tommy Johansson's Christmas version of All The Small Things, which features basically the same idea :)
I wonder if know that conversion worked inspired the whole idea
That part caught me by surprise and made me laugh out loud.
You read my mind
The Meltones!
Perfect!
Holy shit I need a whole damn album of this. The harmonies are amazing dude.
I adore a capella; so agreed. I'd love an album of this!
I was hoping for the best boxing to match the pitch perfect vibes lol
Totally agree 👍🏻 we need a full version of each ❤
Can confirm. Would buy!
He harmonized with himself 😂 I love it!
0:00 - The Middle
1:52 - My friends over you
2:38 - You're so last summer
3:42 - All the small things
6:41 - Alex the seal (squirrel)
gotta admit this was reverse of what I was expecting - I thought it would be traditional carols but done in a pop punk style. Well done!
Same lol 😂
Good video idea though!
Hah, me as well.
that would make a hella double album though

Absolutely zero discussion
@@Home-u6gi suppose the lack of discussion answers the question of whether it makes a difference

@@sjenny5891 yes it does I just mean he posted a discussion question and no one replied lol

Somehow, this put me in more of a Christmas mood than actual Christmas songs
This is by far the all time greatest acapella christmas themed pop punk medley I have ever heard.
Please, do a full version of My Friends Over You. Those harmonies were majestic.
Yea, I'm just going to have to add 1 million votes to this comment.
a crime it was the shortest 😭
+1
Love how Alexs intrusive thoughts won this round

Relent k doesn't get enough love these days
I have good news for you. Relient K have a Christmas album. It’s called “Let It Snow Baby… Let It Reindeer”
@@bezozzleyesss!! I forgot about that 😂
This 👍 RK was so good at their lyrics and actually understanding them most of the time.
A lot of RK songs already have fantastic backing harmonies so I would love to see this.
Finally! I finally get to hear New Found Glory as a barbershop quartet
Definitely need a whole album of these.
I second this
Yes, for sure. That would be amazing.
Very willing to join a pop punk caroling group 🖤🎄🎼
I think they have an app for that!
imagining these people showing up to my house and calling me a liar is hilarious
I mean, if you are bad news...
It’s the endings that get me, when they all humbly lower their heads and not always in sync 😂
"Fa la la la" on All the Small Things! Classic! Great covers!
That harmony from My Friends Over You is like the most crisp sip of eggnog
I came here for the Punkapella. I stayed for the Punkapella
When I clicked this link, I was expecting different versions of Christmas songs written and performed by carolers, but I am digging the a capella versions of these songs, on both videos.
The only carolers I would open the door for. For real though, these are amazing and the harmonies are insane.
Outside the carolers start to sing
I can't describe the joy they bring
'Cause joy is something they don't bring me
Because of this I listened to the original versions of "My friends over you" and "You're so last summer". Even though these songs are good, I feel like your carol versions are just so, so much better.
"My Friends Over You" was my favorite

Yess! Man Overboard would be fun
CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY BOYS
the best merch for this would be sheet music for choir, cause I would absolutely love to sing this
I'm literally crying, because Christmas is so hard for me. Thanks for this.

"Cute without the E" and "Jude Law and a Summer Abroad" plz for part 2
Ummmm, I'm going to need a full album like this!! Oh, and if you made actual pop punk christmas album....would be on HEAVY repeat by me.
Man, I really love 4:45 that main melody of the song is represented perfectly in this. It's really hitting me right now.
Please make a full version of my friends over you. That was sick
Absolutely stunning, and the Fa La Las made me Ell oh Ell.
Acapella goes punk needs to happen. I want an entire series!!!!
You are seriously amazing. This made my Christmas.
I’d pay for a Punk rock Christmas Carol album like this.
Genius, Alex - thank you! How about… In Too Deep, Dear Maria Count Me In, Check Yes Juliet, Jamie All Over, Everything Is Alright, crushcrushcrush
10/10 would bring them some figgy pudding
That was tight; There are a bunch of songs that I'd love to hear "Carolized" Swing Swing by The All American Rejects comes to mind, first.
The “Fa la la’s” got me good. Nice touch. Also just amazing well done overall. Loved the TBS selection.
if only i can like this more than once
Beautiful!
Pulled it up for a quick laugh with the wife before watching our Christmas movie. Then we got hooked and she wanted to keep watching just as much as I did. Love this!
Your bass voice is great!
LOVE THIS but neeeeeed an edit with a little sleigh bell jingle in the back for sure
Please Carolize Mr Brightside 🙏💝
Didn't know I needed that version of all the small things in my life until now.
Punkatonix
I'd love to hear Love Drunk. I can almost hear the harmonic "do-do-do's" in the intro already!
I wish I had someone in my life that would actually care about this so I could share it with them.... I guess I'll just listen to it again...
I now want a full version of "My friends over you" in this genre.

Ooooh. Didn’t know that, but I love the Bad Religion Christmas album. Which other Xmas albums would you specifically recommend?
The Vandals Christmas album
@@ericf9465 “oi to the world” is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Got to see them play it live a couple months ago.
Have a stupid big smile the whole time when I watch this. Thanks Alex.
It’s beyond me how you have not signed record deals with major companies, holy f*ck everything you produce is legendary ❤
isn't he under Pure Noise
Amazing as always! I think Feeling This by Blink 182 would carolize really well!
Amazing video! The first song hit me right in the feels, beautiful rendition. For the next one is think Sugar, We’re going down by fallout boy would be awesome to “carolize” . Thank you for all the work you do!
Church on Sunday from Green Day!! Great job by the way! You Rule Alex!
Very JibJab-ish, very og youtube. Fun.
Yeah I can already see how these could morph into barbershop quartet arrangements… 🤔🤣🤘
This is going to be on repeat every holiday season from now on.
We absolutely loved this! I lost my mind when you threw out the Fa la la during All the Small Things! This video was one of my favorites and we have seen them all. Much love, Alex.
"Feeling this" by Blink 182 would sound amazing with a chorus, especially the ending.
HE DID IT!
I can't believe how much I'm smiling at these, and after a sucky day I needed it. Great job man!

This is so weird. I love it.
My 3 year old caught me watching this and was enthralled! This is AWESOME!
I JUST found this ... while the christmas tree is being taken down ... feels very complete. Great job :D
Since it is for Christmas how about the Vandals 'Oi to the World'?
Take THAT Pentatonix!
Alex really is a true treasure. Keep it up, man! Happy holidays!
Every time all the Alex-es close their eyes I can't help but laugh. Amazing.
Bravo
You need to make this an album
Yule Shoot Your Eye Out. Thanks for always being awesome, much love from Zimbabwe.
Please do more this was legendary and put me in the christmas spirit!!🎄
Dude! Those harmonies are killer!
I need this all the small things carol as a ringtone for the holidays.
HOLY shit! What cant you do? Love you!
Straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥 definitely on my Christmas playlist now!!!
Lost it on the all the small things! it was brilliant. Finally christmas music I can get into!
Thank you Alex, love everything you put out.... This is worthy of paying for live!
I can't describe the joy this brings....
Oh man, those falalala's in All The Small Things were perfect!!
This is, as always, fantastic work, I'm going to enjoy sharing this - You should do Yule Shoot Your Eye Out for the next one!
My new sleep time music. Part 1 and 2 on repeat.
Absolutely blooming brilliant
Part 2 is awesome too!
A very Merry Punkmas to us all. God bless us every one!.. with distortion and high BPMs
Ahah what a great video and carolors covers😄 we NEED th part 2! Try doing something like In Too Deep from Sum 41, or I’m Just a Kid from Simple Plan😁
I think you’ve just unlocked a new category of vids. Punk goes acapella!
Holy shit, Alex. This is unexpected, but in the best way I could think of! Maybe an eventual expansion on this into an album?
Full songs! Please!
Brooooo this is incredible. So creative and fun.
"A Meltotonix Christmas"

Quite fascinating trying to work out which melody was coming out of which Alex
This was the perfect amount of creepy, pop, acapella, punk, christmas all in one video! Double subscribe lol
Can't wait for a part 2! Not everbody knows it, but everyone needs a little Alex Melton for Christmas!
September is ending as I am enjoying this medley
for the first time I do not mishear the lyrics of the middle
This life truly is amazing
