Hey, what do you think about the theory that God Save the King was inspired by the Jacobites? If so, I wonder if there's actually a Jacobite version of God Save the King somewhere.
Well it was. God save the king was written in 1745 when the last Jacobite risings happened, it was written in support of George II against Bonnie Prince Charlie, there is even a version of God save the king with the lines ‘rebellious Scots to crush’ referring to them.
