Cup of Solid Gold wasn't the anthem for the entirety of the Qing Dynasty, as it only became the official anthem of the Qing Dynasty on October 4, 1911, but was relinquished in February 1912 when Empress Dowager Longyu abdicated the Qing throne on behalf of six-year-old Puyi, so the anthem didn't actually last that long! It was the first official anthem of China, though Pu Tian Yue is often viewed as the first but it was not approved officially by the Qing. The golden cup was a ritual instrument that symbolized the empire, first used by Emperor Qianlong to wish for the solidification of political power and the country's development and prosperity. So the anthem is about the stability of said cup. Ironically, six days after it was adopted, the Wuchang Uprising happened, beginning the Xinhai Revolution that ended the dynasty.
While the First Mexican Empire didn't last long, its anthem is far older! It was written by Rabanus Maurus, a ninth-century German monk, teacher, archbishop, and saint. When the original Latin text is used, it is normally sung to a Gregorian Chant tune first known from Kempten Abbey around the year 1000! As an invocation of the Holy Spirit, Veni Creator Spiritus is sung in the Catholic Church during liturgical celebrations on the feast of Pentecost, at both Terce and Vespers. And an interesting fact about the Federal Republic of Central America is its flag was inspired by Argentina's! French-Argentine sailor Hipólito Bouchard raided Spanish outposts across the Americas and so when these Central Americans saw the Argentine flag raised, they viewed it as their flag of liberation.

Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī was the anthem of the kingdom from 1876 to 1893, and then the Republic of Hawaii from 1894 to 1898. After US annexation, it became the territorial anthem and was adopted as a state symbol in 1967. Because of its status and Hawaiian pride, it's commonly sung in Hawaiian schools and after the US anthem in sporting events. The words were written in 1874 by King David Kalākaua with music composed by Captain Henri Berger, then the king's royal bandmaster. It replaced an anthem composed by Queen Liliʻuokalani herself called He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi or Song of the Hawaiian Nation (originally adopted in 1866). Her song was created at the request of Kamehameha V who wanted to replace the British anthem.

"Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was not the anthem of the Kingdom of Prussia, it was the anthem of the German Empire (1871-1918). From 1832-1918 the Prussian anthem was "Preußens Vaterland" ("Prussian's Fatherland"), Author: Bernhard Thiersch (1794-1855), Composer: Heinrich August Neithardt (1793-1861). The Brazilian Empire had two anthems. The first, the same one you listed in the video, was written by our first Emperor and was used until 1841, when Dom Pedro II became emperor at 14 yeras old and they composed a completely different anthem. Whereas the first hymn talked about freeing Brazil from colonial chains, the second one exalted the person of the monarch.
Today, the Anthem of the Republic of Brazil shares the same melody with the second Imperial Anthem, albeit they obviously erased the monarchical tendencies of the lyrics to suit their Positivist ideas.

First Mexican Empire one: very Ennio Morricone-like. I see that one was current only a couple years, as an anthem at least...but lovely.
I liked it too, so I looked it up. Apparently it's a 9th C hymn, usually sung "Gregorian", but this particular version is modern as composed by the Italian Andrea Montepaone, who is presently 44. Thus, this orchestration would not have been used by the First Mexican Empire. However, I'm glad the person who put this together chose this, otherwise I likely would never have heard it.

Don’t give up on a independent Hawaii.Alot of people like the idea of a texas/California republic but there’s a law that makes it illegal for states that CHOSE to be in the union. But hawaii was annexed so a independent Hawaii isn’t that far from the truth.
You literally existed for like 12 weeks and you became a british colony without being a british colony
@@kinsmancastro Sorry, but that isn't ever gonna happen. Hawaii belongs to the Americans and that won't be changing
Yeah, have you seen the Hawai'ian flag?
The HRE anthem, the melody being by Joseph Haydn, is today the German national anthem with the song "Lied der Deutschen" in its third stanza by August Hoffmann von Fallersleben. In Austria, it was last used for imperial Austria during the respective funeral services of Empress Zita and the last successor to the imperial throne, Otto von Habsburg. It was used by Austria as the Kaiserhymne, or Emperor's anthem. And the anthem "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was also the Emperor's anthem in the German Empire.
The Qing Dynasty's anthem is just so......beautiful
The Mexican Empire song was beautiful ❤🇲🇽
They took a Roman Catholic Gregorian Chant as their anthem. I recognized the song from mass and about had a heart attack I was so impressed😂 but yes, very beautiful

4:06 Ottoman marches are generally not bad.
You can understand that the Mecidiye anthem is very close to Star Wars music.
Ha, the HRE anthem was already a common riff for many hymns that I sang in church growing up.
The Ottoman Empire one is only for the years 1909-1918. Almost every Sultan had different marches spesifically for them like the Mecidiye Marşı for I. Abdulmecid (1839-1861).
Makes sense to me
Because there is no way some enemy will hear that not think that a moving band is approaching
To be fair, if I walked into Istanbul into a market and heard this tune, I’d want to get jiggly with it. What a tune! It makes me connect with my inner old lady….
That’s true for a lot of these, most countries didn’t really have national anthems until the 19th century. And of course the March of Henry the 4th would be written 600 years before his reign as king of France
@@elisorrells5314 True but still they werent anthem exactly but marches of that period. For example in early days of republic, there was no single anthem yet. The poem was set decided as official but its composition and meleody did differ even frmo parts of the cities. Like, one composition would be played in a part of Istanbul and another composition in another part. Current anthem form was decided as the official national anthem a little bit after.
Oh man, the Qing Dynasty anthem is absolutely spellbinding..
all these anthems be hitting better than most modern music

The confederate anthem is the musical equivalent of steamed feces

The Holy Roman Empire made me mind-blown.
so this video is why i got into ottoman music... thank you
They had Veni Creator Spiritus as their national anthem? Pretty weird for an "empire" that lasted a couple years. It's a beautiful religious song sung in latin.
