I thought these were kinda contradicting but I guess he means put yourself in a box and force yourself to use limited tools in each one of the multiple projects you’re working on.
@@sj4267 in my experience, when I have limited resources from being in "a box"- instead of getting hung up on what tools or resources I'm lacking, I'm forced to be scrappy and tap into a different type of creativity to hit what I'm trying to accomplish.

Yep, I would have just said a friend done it for me lol. Most of these big designer take ideas from people who don’t have much recognition and that’s sad. @@prodbyskeptics6206 you will not build a project successfully if you are busy with 5 other projects at the same time. I don't quite understand Virgil with this point
I think he means to draw inspiration from those other projects to channel into his core concept ( St-Die) if you look at Oki Sato (definitely check him out ) this man is a designer who works on 400 projects at a time. This guy works on furniture, architecture, graphic design and ect.at the same time, but he has one core concept inspired by all these fields of design. The reasons virigil is also able to do these things is because he has teams too help him ! Get a team.
Concept. Put the shirts out and encourage the demographic/the filmmakers/artists to create your content for you. Use hashtags. Creaters purchase the product and produce your content for you.
Ideas or statements behind the designs are yours and yours alone. You should ask him shitload of questions about productions, marketings, just picked his brains..
I think he meant to work on 6 different projects or types of projects. So something in fashion, film, photography, etc OR some pants, some shirts, some printing, some cut and sew, etc, (just a variety of different themes, mediums or intentions) And then while working in those different themes, or mediums, he suggests to limit the amount of tools you have to create in that space. An example of an exercise that combines both of these ideas would be: Work in only black and white for 1. a fashion video, 2. a t shirt you plan to sell, 3. a wedding photo for a client, 4. a silly comic strip for a friend, 5. a photoshop collage, 6. an abstract painting. I think Virgil is suggesting that if you do that, you will probably come up with more new ideas about “black and white” than if you only painted in black in white and did not explore other mediums, techniques, or intentions for using black and white. And if you make nothing and just think all day, you wont build off past things youve made and wont have as many new ideas.
This is why I cringe at fashion...meanings are behind the clothing but the meanings behind the meanings are sub par and this takes away from the core of fashion which are fabrics, design, and innovation. I respect Virgil for telling him to put more effort into his garms and trying to show him a different view of how to achieve his vision, yet I think of Plato and the shadows on the wall. These ideas are shadows of the actual creativity that are contaminated by capitalism and hubris, and are just that and once light is shined upon these things, they are exposed for what they really are...impersonators...leeches...vain...wannabes ....Bless...forgive me if I offend but this is just my opinion.
