    I know what you mean about some hairdressers giving you push back when you try to discuss your hair. My hair has never looked better after l was forced to take care of it myself over lockdown. I know what she likes and needs. And I had the best teachers on youtube. 😀

    I started self relaxing because of your channel and I've done it alone. My tip for that is to do half your head then wait 7 days and relax the other half. That way you can take your time doing it
    Put a big mirror behind you in the bathroom so when you're doing the back you can see behind you

    I am at 9:35 in this video. I have asked my hairstylist on numerous occasions not to use a fine tooth comb to detangle my hair, also have asked so many times to stick to the roots when relaxing my hair. The response is you think what you see on UA-cam is right. She will say things like if your the expert why you come here. Its been a challenge. Thats why we have to keep educating ourselves and our community. I enjoyed this video as always. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

      How rude of your stylist

    • @latichina5

      You need a new stylist. You pay her she needs to at least be respectful. How rude.

    • @feeceejenny5067

      I don't understand why stylists do that though. We are getting a service from them. We want our money's worth. Since they are experts shouldn't they be able to listen to what their client wants and deliver as expected. Gah you have no idea how upset I am for them ruining my hair last year. I started transitioning then I just cut it off in September and been doing braids ever since. Can't wait to see my fro again!

    • @HairliciousInc
      @HairliciousInc  4 роки тому +21

      Omg this irks me!! This is exactly what I’m talking about. Rude comments and ignorance for no reason. Your hair is at the mercy of these stylists with unhealthy hair care practices. All it takes is ONE appointment to ruin your hair. I’ve been there and I empathize with you.
      I would suggest finding another stylist, if not, heavily coat your hair prior to relaxing as she tends to overlap and bring YOUR wide tooth comb with you for detangling and ask if she doesn’t mind using your comb instead. That way there’s no excuse. Thank you for sharing that and wishing you the best💕

    • @HairliciousInc

    Hey! Love your hair and love your videos👏👏👏 What I have learnt in my hair journey is that you need to have a voice when it comes to your hair especially if you rely on salons to do your hair. Dont be afraid to speak up if someone is doing something you know does not agree with your hair. I was a bit of a hair nazi but I didnt care because it was MY HAIR and I was PAYING for it! Speak up! An intelligent person will not feel offended.

Relaxed in June from natural and my hair looked wow, relaxed again now in September and I am asking myself what I did wrong BCS it took a turn. When I finally relaxed in September hair was falling terribly prior... Will now try relaxing at 10 weeks and doing both moisture and protein treatments weekly. And stay the course till I see results. I was natural for about 7 years and then I texlaxed it with a lye relaxer but it didn’t stay as straight as I would like. I left it for about 8 minutes. When it comes to lye relaxers more or less how long should it be left in for the hair to not look like it’s still natural?

    Oh this came on time. Just left salon during a 20 week stretch and was there because I will pay for her 'expertise' with detangling the two textures. Then I come out from steamer and she combs conditioner through with a smaller tooth comb and shows me way more than usual hair came out. I asked why would you comb 20 week post with anything but a large tooth comb? Then I had to start mixing my own conditioner/oils mix because she would use the tiniest amount like she was paying for it. I bring my own products only use their water and heat. It is so frustrating. She admitted no breakage but trimmed over an inch to "even" the length. I really want to self-relax, I used to but I had no clue and the length was much shorter. Ah the struggle is real. Thanks for all your tips and pray I can find another person:(

      GIRL I had a stylist drag thru my hair with a brush and try to argue with me that there was no hair in the brush. Ma’am. That’s because the hair is all over my shirt. You are ripping my hair out. Then my silk press was so FLAT bc she hot-combed THEN flat ironed. I was too through. I’m doing everything for self now 😔

    Do you recommend bonding treatments such as Olaplex no3 on texlaxed hair? What’s the difference between a bonding treatment and a protein treatment? How often do you do a bonding treatment? How often do you a protein treatment? I Love your content, I’m planning on texlaxing my hair and you have provided so much great advice. I can’t wait to try them out!

    • @HairliciousInc
      @HairliciousInc  3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. Hair that has been compromised due to chemical services, damage, heavy manipulation would benefit from the Olaplex line. A bonding treatment helps to repair the broken bonds in the hair and a protein treatment helps to fortify the hair by filling in the cracks along the hair shaft making the hair feel stronger/fuller. A bonding treatment should NOT be used in place of a protein treatment. They are different. How often all depends on your hair and tolerance. I use protein weekly/biweekly and bond treatment every 3 months on relaxer day. Trial and error, sis☺️ I hope you like it as much as I do!!!

    Hi Hairlicious! I have been reading up on all your tips but it has been a real challenge for me to find my rhythm and what works for my hair. This actually is the fourth time I will be attempting to grow my relaxed hair. My hair is extremely weak when wet and I know that my moisture/protein balance is off but I can't seem to figure how to balance it yet. I don't self relax because going to the salon is just more convenient and also my hair dresser is OK. However, I would like to try using the Roux Porosity Control. Can I apply this to my ends before heading to the salon, which is about 45mins away from where I live or can I use it on my wash day after I relax. I wash my hair every other week as this is what my hair can tolerate. Please help!!

I decided to listen to your advice and now comb my hair with my fingers unless when I wash my hair I use my big comb to detangle it but it seems every time I comb through it with my fingers when I moisturize and style my hair I notice a lot of my hair falling out. Do you see any issues with doing a protein treatment right after I wash my relaxer out??

    • @HairliciousInc
      @HairliciousInc  2 роки тому +1

      The mid step protein treatment is very common with Affirm relaxers. So you do the protein treatment right after the relaxer, before neutralizing. Scientifically it makes sense. But I would follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner after neutralizing.

I believe it's the reason why my hair is thinning, super dry and breaks easily, I want to from now on take better care of my hair because my goal is to have a healthier head of hair. Can u help reccomend a regimen I can use.

      @@deborahadebola1646 Well I hope most of your hair isn't damaged.
      If it is, you can cut off all the damage and make sure whenever you relax your hair to NEVER over lap your already relaxed hair (please research on how to grow long relaxed hair then you'll understand better).
      If you do not wish to do that, slowly cut off the damaged ends little by little as it is growing(still keeping in mind to no overlap the relaxed ). All the best in your hair journey!

    I think...I could be wrong...that people forget that coconut oil is a penetrating oil. So, using an oil that is unable to penetrate would work better for sealing. I only use coconut oil to deep condition.

    5 months post relaxer. I am getting a relaxer next week. How do I prepare my hair a week before the relaxer?

    • @HairliciousInc
      @HairliciousInc  3 роки тому +2

      Clarify your hair to ensure the relaxer “takes”
      Shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo - one lather. Use a protein based treatment for added strength. Follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner to help soften up the hair.
      Use your leave-in conditioner or detangler. Ensure your new growth is thoroughly detangled.
      Leave your hair and scalp alone for the rest of the week until relaxer day.

    What is your opinion of henna dye, permanent dye or semi perm dye on relaxed hair or natural hair.

    • @RochelletheRealtor
      @RochelletheRealtor 4 роки тому

      Carolin Miller
      You didn’t ask me, but I use henna on natural hair. I’ve been using it for 7-8 years, but never when I was relaxed. I have also used semi-permanent dye on relaxed hair. I liked both of them. The henna definitely improved my hair. The semi permanent rinse was great for grey coverage, but it washed out too fast. I hope this helps you.

      Thank you. If you notice breakage and your ends are thinning, I think a trim would be suitable. Don’t hold on to split damaged ends. Have you tried the strand test I mentioned in he video to see if your hair needs moisture/protein?

    When do one use either of them on their hair
    And what can you substitute for jojoba oil

    • @janayh2817
      @janayh2817 4 роки тому +2

      Hey sis just in case your question doesn’t get answered...moisturizer and leave-in can be the same. You want to HYDRATE with something water-based first (or just water). In lieu of jojoba use Argan oil. There are a lot of non-comedogenic oils like argan/jojoba that will seal in moisture but not break you out or clog you up. Just google it 💜 I hope you find something that works for your beautiful scalp and hair!
