It’s been so nice seeing you regularly on these YT streets! You are giving me some much needed motivation to get back to my hair regimen consistently. When I was on Hairlista I was so strict with it. Now that I have an 18 month old daughter, I am motivated to keep both of our heads healthy.
I know what you mean about some hairdressers giving you push back when you try to discuss your hair. My hair has never looked better after l was forced to take care of it myself over lockdown. I know what she likes and needs. And I had the best teachers on youtube. 😀
OMG! Same! I was forced to learn over lockdown and now I can comfortably stretch for up to 13 weeks, something I NEVER thought I would be able to do! 🙌🏾

I started self relaxing because of your channel and I've done it alone. My tip for that is to do half your head then wait 7 days and relax the other half. That way you can take your time doing it Put a big mirror behind you in the bathroom so when you're doing the back you can see behind you
Thanks for the Q & A. My Hair is thin but has length. Since I've been using your tips my hair is getting a little thick but hair starting to thin with age😊 One thing I can say is the weekly washes have done wonders for my scalp along with oiling my scalp with coconut oil thanks so much for that. I love that hair style on you. 😊
Hi Sunshyne!! I’ve been following you since your hair care boards back in the 2008-2012! I’m so inspired by your work! Thank you for all the encouragement over the years !!!
A year later, but info so valuable. I will stay the course until I get this right. Relaxed in June from natural and my hair looked wow, relaxed again now in September and I am asking myself what I did wrong BCS it took a turn. When I finally relaxed in September hair was falling terribly prior... Will now try relaxing at 10 weeks and doing both moisture and protein treatments weekly. And stay the course till I see results. Thank you so u much for this Q&A
Oh my God my question was in the intro!!! Thank you so much sunshyne. You’re the best. And gosh you look sooo pretty. Please share how you did your style. Thanks. Love from Nigeria❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗💕💕💕
One tip on the pushback - take your own tools and products to the hairdresser!!. The pushback is real!! but it's your hair and coins. I have had to switch stylist for that reason alone. Great video Val! you look beautiful. You are rocking my fav protective style. I have my faithful 2 braids right now :) xoxo
Question: from listening to your videos on the comparison of whether your hair needs protein or moisture I understood. But what if your hair is balanced do you still moisturize? And barely use protein?
Thanks for answering my question! Hair salons are now closing during a second lockdown where I am so I'll be relaxing my own hair for the first time, I'm going to use your relaxer day video for advice. Wish me luck :)
Hey! Love your hair and love your videos👏👏👏 What I have learnt in my hair journey is that you need to have a voice when it comes to your hair especially if you rely on salons to do your hair. Dont be afraid to speak up if someone is doing something you know does not agree with your hair. I was a bit of a hair nazi but I didnt care because it was MY HAIR and I was PAYING for it! Speak up! An intelligent person will not feel offended.
Hi I love your channel I am natural and it drives me up a wall I am strongly considering relaxed hair again and watching you give me some hope Thanks 😊
Thank you sooo much for answering my question!!! I was definitely thinking abt using Jojoba oil for my scalp and definitely need to start washing once a week. I currently wash and deep condition every 2 weeks. Again thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. You are hair goals 💞💞💞
Omg when you showed the clip massaging your edges I was like who is that then realized it was you, lol. You looked like a teenager. I loved this, it was very informative. I'm so excited that you've been doing more videos. Dubai is everything on deeper skin, it's one of my faves too. It never crossed my mind that coconut oil could be why my hair is dry the next day after m&s, I need to switch, thanks.
Thank you sooooo much for the Q &A I have been waiting for it. And yes, you answered my question and now I’m just going to wait for the future video on Olaplex 0. My notification bell is always on for your hair videos.
Thank you for the Q&A... I’m going back to relaxed hair my app is in a couple of days. I can’t wait... my hair is healthy and flourishes no matter if I’m natural or relaxed. Just want something different and new
I'm new here. The more I watch, the more I realize my stylist is amazing. A lot of what you say is verbatim what she says. Thanks for all of the wisdom and tips. I'm going to incorporate the co-washing mid-week. Also I use the kera care hydrating shampoo too and it's my favorite!
Nice Q&A session. Enjoyed it. I have a question hopefully it gets answered in the Pt 2, so apart from the aphogee protein treatment what other products fo do you recommend to be used as protein treatment. This is my biggest challenge at the moment.
I enjoyed your video. I was wondering what is your hair porosity? I have low porosity hair so I have to be careful with what products I use especially if they contain protein.
Oh this came on time. Just left salon during a 20 week stretch and was there because I will pay for her 'expertise' with detangling the two textures. Then I come out from steamer and she combs conditioner through with a smaller tooth comb and shows me way more than usual hair came out. I asked why would you comb 20 week post with anything but a large tooth comb? Then I had to start mixing my own conditioner/oils mix because she would use the tiniest amount like she was paying for it. I bring my own products only use their water and heat. It is so frustrating. She admitted no breakage but trimmed over an inch to "even" the length. I really want to self-relax, I used to but I had no clue and the length was much shorter. Ah the struggle is real. Thanks for all your tips and pray I can find another person:(
GIRL I had a stylist drag thru my hair with a brush and try to argue with me that there was no hair in the brush. Ma’am. That’s because the hair is all over my shirt. You are ripping my hair out. Then my silk press was so FLAT bc she hot-combed THEN flat ironed. I was too through. I’m doing everything for self now 😔
Have you used henna to color your relaxed hair? If so, could you recommend the brand and state if you used additives like lemon juice or coffee to enhance the treatment? Thank you.
Hi Sunshyne! This is the first time I’m leaving a comment. Keep up the good work. I was natural for about 7 years and then I texlaxed it with a lye relaxer but it didn’t stay as straight as I would like. I left it for about 8 minutes. When it comes to lye relaxers more or less how long should it be left in for the hair to not look like it’s still natural?
My stylist used to do my relaxer and protein (affirm reconstructor) right after and no deep condition. Do you see any issues with doing a protein treatment right after I wash my relaxer out??
The mid step protein treatment is very common with Affirm relaxers. So you do the protein treatment right after the relaxer, before neutralizing. Scientifically it makes sense. But I would follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner after neutralizing.
Im 15 and I just started taking more care in my hair. I decided to listen to your advice and now comb my hair with my fingers unless when I wash my hair I use my big comb to detangle it but it seems every time I comb through it with my fingers when I moisturize and style my hair I notice a lot of my hair falling out. Does it mean that I need to take vitamins? Im not really sure what im doing wrong.
Hi Hairlicious! I have been reading up on all your tips but it has been a real challenge for me to find my rhythm and what works for my hair. This actually is the fourth time I will be attempting to grow my relaxed hair. My hair is extremely weak when wet and I know that my moisture/protein balance is off but I can't seem to figure how to balance it yet. I don't self relax because going to the salon is just more convenient and also my hair dresser is OK. However, I would like to try using the Roux Porosity Control. Can I apply this to my ends before heading to the salon, which is about 45mins away from where I live or can I use it on my wash day after I relax. I wash my hair every other week as this is what my hair can tolerate. Please help!!
I am recently relaxed after being natural for about 10-11 years. I love being relaxed and learning how to care for my hair in it's relaxed state. My question is can I relax my hair the same week I washed my hair?

I have no product starting all the way over any advice on what to buy and where to start. Hair type 4c
Good day. New subscriber . I’ve been looking at videos on UA-cam to see what I can incorporate to my my hair journey, so far you’re videos is the only one that stands out to me. I have a good feelings when I watch them, right now I’m looking at your old videos to see what I can learn .Honestly I don’t know much at all about hair UA-cam is my go to place ,all my live I wore braids off and on. I’ve been natural for two years now I’m over it . My problem is i don’t what product to use nor what regiment to stick with. Can u give me some beginner pointers. Thanks ps. You look flawless in every videos.
Do you recommend bonding treatments such as Olaplex no3 on texlaxed hair? What’s the difference between a bonding treatment and a protein treatment? How often do you do a bonding treatment? How often do you a protein treatment? I Love your content, I’m planning on texlaxing my hair and you have provided so much great advice. I can’t wait to try them out!
Absolutely. Hair that has been compromised due to chemical services, damage, heavy manipulation would benefit from the Olaplex line. A bonding treatment helps to repair the broken bonds in the hair and a protein treatment helps to fortify the hair by filling in the cracks along the hair shaft making the hair feel stronger/fuller. A bonding treatment should NOT be used in place of a protein treatment. They are different. How often all depends on your hair and tolerance. I use protein weekly/biweekly and bond treatment every 3 months on relaxer day. Trial and error, sis☺️ I hope you like it as much as I do!!!
Pls Hv been overlapping relaxer on my hair for years nw because of lack of information... Hw will I get my hair back to shape? Should I cut it or sustain it?
@@deborahadebola1646 Well I hope most of your hair isn't damaged. If it is, you can cut off all the damage and make sure whenever you relax your hair to NEVER over lap your already relaxed hair (please research on how to grow long relaxed hair then you'll understand better). If you do not wish to do that, slowly cut off the damaged ends little by little as it is growing(still keeping in mind to no overlap the relaxed ). All the best in your hair journey!
So true! It’s rare you’ll find a stylist that truly listens to their client and support healthy hair care practices! I’m certain they’re out there but it’s a rare find!
I've been following you since you first started your hair board online and I'm still following you after all those years. This was a very good video. Olaplex 0 works great with Olaplex3.
You have beautiful hair, I have been following you for 2 years, and yes ma’am I’m late with my question. After you have air dried your hair, do you moisturize and seal than put your hair in a bun?
Carolin Miller You didn’t ask me, but I use henna on natural hair. I’ve been using it for 7-8 years, but never when I was relaxed. I have also used semi-permanent dye on relaxed hair. I liked both of them. The henna definitely improved my hair. The semi permanent rinse was great for grey coverage, but it washed out too fast. I hope this helps you.
I missed this Q&A session 😔 Please answer my question. 5 months post relaxer. I am getting a relaxer next week. How do I prepare my hair a week before the relaxer?
Clarify your hair to ensure the relaxer “takes” Shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo - one lather. Use a protein based treatment for added strength. Follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner to help soften up the hair. Use your leave-in conditioner or detangler. Ensure your new growth is thoroughly detangled. Leave your hair and scalp alone for the rest of the week until relaxer day.
I am thinning at the crown of my head, my hair breaks easily and I also have super dry hair. Hair goddess please tell me how I can fix my hair situation. Please give me a hair regimen that will assist my hair. Btw I'm in love with your videos
@@HairliciousIncMy hair goddess❤ I'm glad u replied. Yes I am currently relaxed but don't really have a regimen. I believe it's the reason why my hair is thinning, super dry and breaks easily, I want to from now on take better care of my hair because my goal is to have a healthier head of hair. Can u help reccomend a regimen I can use.
Hi love your videos my question is should I cut my whole hair if I noticed two areas that have breakage? I've started the creme of nature plex. Any advice?
Thank you. If you notice breakage and your ends are thinning, I think a trim would be suitable. Don’t hold on to split damaged ends. Have you tried the strand test I mentioned in he video to see if your hair needs moisture/protein?
Yes and I am starting my protein treatment...just want to know if I should cut my hair because it's growing I just think I wasn't or didn't have a regimen so I'm trying to get into one.
I think...I could be wrong...that people forget that coconut oil is a penetrating oil. So, using an oil that is unable to penetrate would work better for sealing. I only use coconut oil to deep condition.
Yesssss u should have even more subscriberss !!! Like your awesome ! People need to wake up and sub to your channel already not just watch but take action!!! Ps your hair is legendary... love tanzythetrophy
Omg you replied!! I recently subscribed to your channel and have watched most of your videos. You are definitely hair goals for me!!!! 😊😊 I also have another question have you or know of some one who uses As I Am Dry and Itchy Scalp Care on relaxed hair?
You didn't answer my question though.... waiting for part 2...I asked what's the difference between moisturizer and leave in conditioner When do one use either of them on their hair And what can you substitute for jojoba oil
Hey sis just in case your question doesn’t get answered...moisturizer and leave-in can be the same. You want to HYDRATE with something water-based first (or just water). In lieu of jojoba use Argan oil. There are a lot of non-comedogenic oils like argan/jojoba that will seal in moisture but not break you out or clog you up. Just google it 💜 I hope you find something that works for your beautiful scalp and hair!
Ayeeee...Sunshyne!!!! You answered my question first. Yes, I’m a loyal follower!!!

5 months post relaxer. I am getting a relaxer next week. How do I prepare my hair a week before the relaxer?
Clarify your hair to ensure the relaxer “takes”
Shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo - one lather.
@@HairliciousInc I’m getting a virgin relaxer. Should I follow the same exact steps?
Yes, you can!!!
I am thinning at the crown of my head, my hair breaks easily and I also have super dry hair. Hair goddess please tell me how I can fix my hair situation. Please give me a hair regimen that will assist my hair. Btw I'm in love with your videos
Thanks for watching💕So sorry to hear this. Are you relaxed? What’s your current regimen?
I just did and it snapped I'm doing a deep conditioner now the mayonnaise one with the olive oil in it
@@HairliciousInc Thank you for replying back. Once again I love your videos
It snapped with little to no manipulation?
I think...I could be wrong...that people forget that coconut oil is a penetrating oil. So, using an oil that is unable to penetrate would work better for sealing. I only use coconut oil to deep condition.
After answering the first two questions...LIKE!😍😍❤❤
Thank you!!💕
I was able to get that Sage comb and it has made a huge difference. Thanx for keeping us informed 🤗

THANKS FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION!
Can you do a video on PCOS and hair loss please. Amazing information👍❤
You are beautiful. Thank you for giving your time.
Yes we need it great!✨💕👍
So I have heard you t shirt dry your hair instead of towel drying it. Do you use a regular t shirt?
Yes. Regular cotton t-shirt.
Omg you replied!! I recently subscribed to your channel and have watched most of your videos. You are definitely hair goals for me!!!! 😊😊 I also have another question have you or know of some one who uses As I Am Dry and Itchy Scalp Care on relaxed hair?
Awww welcome💕 No, not as yet. But I’ve seen ladies use the Keracare Itchy Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner with amazing results.
Hey Val, where are you in Canada?
Hey! I answer that in Part 2 of my Q&A!!
@@HairliciousInc yeah, I saw it right after, guess I should have waited. I’m down in Niagara Region.
Nice!! I love Niagara Falls 💕
Always great! I sent you an email recently...just a small suggestion for your safety. Thank you for all you do. You are greatly appreciated.
A big thumps up
The shedding is real with my perms!
What kind of relaxer are you using?
What kind of relaxer are you using? Certain relaxers have reversed steps too especially with Affirm relaxers.
@@judywalker2849 just watch her relaxer video😁
This happened to me this year.....😣😣
@@judywalker2849 I’m not sure. I’ll have to ask my stylist. I waited 6 months before getting my second one and he said I should have done it sooner.
Thanks for the great tips😚😚😚
Thanks hun😍
Great video
120 for WHAT ???? no Way. My retouch NEVER over 90. 😭😭outrageous
❤️
Hiiii 😁
You didn't answer my question though.... waiting for part 2...I asked what's the difference between moisturizer and leave in conditioner
When do one use either of them on their hair
And what can you substitute for jojoba oil
Hey sis just in case your question doesn’t get answered...moisturizer and leave-in can be the same. You want to HYDRATE with something water-based first (or just water). In lieu of jojoba use Argan oil. There are a lot of non-comedogenic oils like argan/jojoba that will seal in moisture but not break you out or clog you up. Just google it 💜 I hope you find something that works for your beautiful scalp and hair!
Leave in and moisturizer are the same, leave ins are just thicker than moisturizers in most cases
Thank you so much guys... really appreciate
When does she answer the question she opens the video with?
It’s there. You have to watch the video, hun☺️
You talked about postpartum shedding, but did you relax while pregnant?
Yes, I relaxed while I was pregnant! I didn’t change my regimen/products etc.
$120 for a touch up? No ma'am!
Right?! Outrageous 😤
