this is great!! thanks for sharing this video..:)😍👍
Sure thing! 😊
HI there....very helpful video! We're going to be scalloping for the first time soon. I would like to get a mesh bag like yours, but I am having the hardest time getting one like yours with the strap that goes from the neck of the bag to the bottom. Can you tell me where you got yours?
They actually don’t sell those anymore so we bought regular ones and used rope and ran it through to recreate that.
It worked out really well!
cool video! going this week so thanks for the tips.
You’re very welcome!
Great video! I dive in Mass in 70 feet for sea scallops, this looks more chill. Are there bay scallop beds between Sarasota and Nokomis?
I’m sure there probably are!! It’s a lot of fun!
Going out for the 1st time with my wife & kids tomorrow...Was looking for a scalloping 101 & this was perfect, thank you!!! Hope
We have as much luck as you did 😁
Glad we could help! Hope y’all had a lot of luck!
2-8 feet of water.. lol Not on commercial fishing boat out of New Bedford Massachusetts. Did it in the 90’s for many years.
In Florida in the Gulf, that’s the depths they’re found. Sounds like you were finding sea scallops. These are bay scallops.
@TheNaturalAddiction Where would be a good spot to scallop by kayak?
My family and I went scalloping for the first time this weekend. I absolutely loved it! But, I had a hard time going down and staying down in the water long enough to grab the scallop. I kept getting pulled back up. I felt like a balloon trying to go under water. Any advice?
We always wear fins because you can push yourself down with very little effort.
You need to use a diving belt with some weights...
@@pedrocontreras1810 that wouldn’t make sense for this area. Sometimes we’re only in 3-4 feet of water. No real need for weights. We generally use fins for when the current is strong to help us go against the current to go down when we’re in 6-8 feet (we don’t normally have to go that deep to find them).
@@TheNaturalAddiction where would be a good spot to scallop by kayak?
@@coreymoseley2837 we’ve never gone out there with a kayak, so I’m not 100% sure. Keaton Beach might be easier to navigate out with a kayak.
One thing you should’ve mentioned is that there is only a very small portion of the coast that is open to scalloping that has the early June season. While anyone going on the water should check the regs for themselves, harvesting scallops in June anywhere other than southern Taylor or Dixie counties could land someone in some serious hot water. You owe it to your viewers to point that out. Great video otherwise, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback. With any hunting or fishing, people should always check the regs for where they are going because they vary from state to state and county to county. No video can cover all states and counties. The intention wasn’t to tell people the regs, it was just to show them how to do it. Appreciate you watching!
@@TheNaturalAddiction bravo
how do you tell the difference between a clam and a scallop? I'm a newbie at this - thanks!
I believe scallops are actually in the clam family. Clams can be fresh or saltwater, but scallops are saltwater only.
@@TheNaturalAddiction )where did you get the shirt. My wife wants one!
Scallops have blue eyes. They are basically all you see out there
My mom sent me this lol
Where did you get shirt? My wife loves it and wants one. Not on HUK site
It’s a great shirt, goes with just about everything! 😊 I don’t think they sell this one anymore, but I’ll bet she could find one on eBay or Amazon.
