This is one of the most powerful songs ever written. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see them perform locally that same month. They were touring with another hero of mine, Charlie King. Also on the bill was Roy Zimmerman, who's often compared with Tom Lehrer. Can't believe it was 14 years ago...
I was so very honestly blessed to see them at the 2013 Close the School of the Americas Watch Vigil, where they sang all weekend long. I heard this song, but not this clearly, and so I'm very grateful to you for posting these excellent videos. They're on my all-time favorite artists list now--and I didn't even know their names before November. But they are song-crafters---and beyond that, though that would be enough, they are consummate performers, who simply exemplify what professionalism combined with passion is capable of achieving. Things don't seem so out of balance when you realize that somehow, these two artists found one another, and their art and their politics meshed to this degree of symbiosis...."coincidences" like that make me believe. The Prince Myshkins are a great singing duo. Many years ago they did a special concert in our home in Culver City, California with Charlie King & Karen Brandow. What a beautiful night it was. Karen Brandow - Presente.
I met this incredible duo back in 2008 in Minnealpolis. They were performing the same night I was screening my documentary Red State Road Trip 2. The gave me a CD of their work, and it's brilliant. Why aren't Prince Myshkins more well known???
