  • Taking off from our temporary home base of Cle Elum to Wenatchee for some oil and refueling and then heading up further north into the mountains for a hike into the Pasayten Wilderness. After experiencing some moderate turbulence en route we land at Lost River, W12, a bush grass strip. Coming back from the hike, we take off late afternoon with density altitude rising.

OMG so glad I watched this after our trip and not before, lol. That turbulence and tricky landing and take off is a big ole nope for me ;) You are an amazing pilot brotha!

Really enjoyed both of these videos of your time here in the Pacific Northwest, Per. Good external camera angles, good angles on the interior, some nice shots from inside the plane with the handheld, and some nice shots on the ground. Good scattering of music and times with no music. I enjoyed the conversation between you and your wife, too. It's cool that she's so interested in the details of the flying. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos and seeing the rest of your trip when you come out with those videos.

@@VTalesAviation I chuckled a little when you said something like, Lake Chillin. Good thing you weren’t landing at KPLU in Puyallup.

The 70% airspeed by the halfway point doesn't account for obstacles. Even just 50ft trees might double the takeoff distance needed. But I'm sure your POH can give you a softfield takeoff distance, and you can add 50% margin to it to be comfortable with any downdrafts or unexpected poor performance
