    Great videos. Really appreciate your work. I was born in Cambodia, lived in the refugee camps from 2-8 and moved to Toronto Canada. I’ve been back 14 years ago and heading back again finally next month for 3 weeks. I saw your 2016 trip where you mentioned that you really missed your girls....I remember being super homesick 14 years ago when it was just my boyfriend (now husband) to miss. We have 3 daughters now and I know I will miss them terribly! It was an emotional trip then especially travelling across the Thai Cambodian border and along the paths our family escaped. I’m sure I’ll finding myself in tears again. I have a love hate relationship with Cambodia. Someone else said it best, “You fall in love with Cambodia only to have it break your heart.”

    Thanks Savi. I appreciate watching your videos. I was in Siem Reap a few weeks ago and totally enjoyed it. However your extended family experiences really shows me the true culture of Cambodia. Not just the tourist centric areas. Cheers from Australia!

    I am a really big fan of all your videos. I am not from Cambodia but I am studying Khmer, mainly by visiting Cambodian areas of the US, like Lowell and Providence. It's awesome but your videos really make me want to go to Cambodia and to get away from the cities and tourist areas to see rural life. I have learned a lot from your videos and I see the heart and soul you put into each one

    Hi brother. I’m Ratana from Atlanta, Georgia. I grew up in Prey Veng. I just recently found your channel and been watching your videos ever since. Your videos really make me home sick haha I enjoyed it a lot! I’m planning on going home in December. Have any travel tips for me? I do plan on visiting Siem Reap cause last time I was there I was quite small.

    • @saviyou
      @saviyou  6 років тому +1

      Ratana’s Adventure travel tips: bring baby wipes with you always, Pedialyte, mosquito lotion, pepto/Imodium. Siem Reap has many things to do. Try to go visit Kulen Mt stop at Preah Dak and eat num pachok. I may also be heading back in December for the wedding of a nephew but I don’t know what date yet.

    Awesome bro. I was glad to have come to SR as my first Cambodian exposure. A lot less hectic than PP life but definitely more tourist oriented like you pointed out. (Had my first ke tieu with my taxi driver!) Glad your last video about Khmer life was on the longer end. Quick question. You flew into BKK both times before going to Cambodia. Can I ask why? I did too; based on cost mostly, but I fly out of ATL, which is way more expensive than NYC. I should have taken advantage of that when I did live in NYC.

    • @saviyou
      @saviyou  6 років тому +1

      SR is a very nice town, some nice villages on the outskirts. I'm just not a fan of the Pub Street scene...which consists of drunken Europeans and Aussies. I flew into BKK mainly because I wanted to visit my cousin and also document traveling through the Aranyaprathet-Poipet border. I was born in Aran also.

    Love your video sir, I'm a bit curious , what drone and lense do u use? And one more, u edit on premiere right?! How do u make the audio transition that it come before the video!?

    • @saviyou
      @saviyou  6 років тому

      I used DJI Spark when I travel. For editing I use Finalcut Pro and the audio transition is called a crossfade I think? For Finalcut, just "Expand Audio" and drag the audio out so it overlaps the video before or after it. In Premier, I believe there's an actual crossfade effect.

    let me ask you about your experience. I visited Cambodia once and do not have the urge to return or revisit. I was bothered by classes of people that they have in their society. My visit was good but uncomfortable. Did you feel that way too?

    • @saviyou
      @saviyou  6 років тому

      Everyone was very welcoming to me, but I know what you mean. I never really felt uncomfortable, but I'm always in situations where I stick out so maybe I'm just used to it. Also, I was right in the middle of drama related to someone being of lower class. It was a very sad situation.

    • @therabbitnews9362
      @therabbitnews9362 6 років тому

      I was welcome very well. Actually, some of them were rich and powerful while some others are average people. It's disgusted when I was told only to associate with this kind of people, not that kind. I appreciated their hospitality. But that was not what I was there for. I was just a visitor visiting the country. I didn't want to be anything more than that.

    Dear Savi, i always watching your all of Cambodian video, I have one question, you have any Idea, who was the real architecture of Great Angkor wat. There must be some detailed plan and design, i read some story from history, there was some connection between Suryavarman II Yaśodharapura sent a mission to the Chola dynasty of south India and presented a precious stone to the King Raja Raja Chola Emperor Kulothunga, ultimately King Raja send his elder son for designing and planning of Angor wat. i am not sure about this story.. this is from heistory..

    • @saviyou
      @saviyou  6 років тому +1

      I don't know? These are old guns and ammo leftover from back during the war. The AK-47 was like the only gun that was operational. I'm going to guess that it isn't very well maintained, they probably just oil the crap out of it using leftover oil from cooking chickens! :)

    • @tipla
