This is the second time I've seen Brits "reacting" to this video and both times I was surprised because the two agencies are pretty much equivalent to Britain's MI5 and MI6.
I grew up in (and still live in) the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. When I was a school safety patrol, in elementary school, we got to take an invited tour of the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building in DC. Of course we only got to see what, we as civilians, were allowed to see. I remember they had a huge display of confiscated stuff they got from arrests over the years. Like guns disguised as every day things like canes or lips stick. They also had the death mask (or a replica of) Scarface.....I think it was Scarface. But, yeah, everyone here knows where FBI HQ is. It is in the middle of a busy section DC next to other buildings. There has been a lot of talk about moving it to Maryland or Virginia in recent years.
Our United States has a large number of other intelligence agencies that use covert agents. Including the Defense Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency, Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI), Office of Naval Intelligence, among many others with the newest one setup six months ago, the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC)
The FBI has a mostly law enforcement focus, though they also have counter-intelligence functions. The latter entails detecting foreign intelligence agents within the US and catching "moles"/intelligence leaks. In the UK, MI-5 has that function. The CIA is a foreign intelligence service like the UK's MI-6. Most CIA employees are analysts and support personnel; only a fraction of them work in the field as intelligence officers. Fewer still are part of its covert action/paramilitary group (Special Activities Center).
There are three FBI TV programs on US tV including FBI, FBI International and FBI Most Wanted. While I cannot vouch for the veracity of their manifestations, they do provide for interesting watching
Speaking of FBI I love watching the tv show The Rookie Feds. Cbs also has a tv show named FBI. Now there's a tv show involving a CIA Agent and that show is the Company you keep.
An interesting footnote about the alphabet agencies, they all have their own special way of communicating with each other within their perspective agency. Which sometimes gets confusing when agencies have to work together.
As far as knowing where the offices are... the head offices are usually well known to the public. They aren't obvious, and they aren't without protection. But if you know where to go, you can pretty well find them
Here's something that needs to be corrected. We call them "case officers" at CIA, not agents. An agent is an asset, usually not American, and is someone working for us in the area of operations. I don't work there, I just live in DC and have lots of govvie friends.
I remember when the NSA stood for "No Such Agency" - even though the speaker was wearing an ID tag and standing in front of the agency's office building.
US citizenship is a requirement for several Federal Government jobs, including FBI and I'd assume a case officer in the CIA (CIA assets more often than not are probably not US citizens).
You two should watch this movie which is a great FBI movie. I think you to will enjoy this movie but many sure you watch the entire movie. The Silence of the Lambs 1991
So, I started college/University in August, 2001, so 9/11 was a significant influence on my college experience. Years into that experience, I took a sociology class, and the professor had started her previous job, with the Justice Department, on September 10, 2001. As you can imagine, that was quite an experience/nightmare starting the very next day. The biggest thing I remember her telling us was how much 9/11 changed the law enforcement landscape, the most significant being that BEFORE that day, it was illegal for the various organizations to share intelligence and information. Yes, you read that right. She didn't even know this until that day, because she went to her direct supervisors and said she thought she/they should contact the other organizations, like the CIA and NSA, to collect/share intel, at which point her supervisors told her that she could not do that because it wasn't legal. Soon after, of course, that was changed. So, it wasn't a matter of stingy organizations competing, it was that they literally couldn't.
You hit the nail on the head before the video even started. FBI participates in law enforcement. They have a different standard in terms of collecting evidence, that it must be beyond a reasonable doubt to hold up in court. CIA works on probabilities, and all information collected goes to Congress.
The predecessor to the CIA was the OSI. The OSI stands for office of strategic information. It was headed up by someone named Donovan I can't remember his first name. I believe he ended up having the CIA when it was founded.
OSS [Office of Special Services] was the wartime precursor of the CIA [Central Intelligence Agency]. OSI is a fictional agency from the Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman television series.
One of my buddies dated a girl in highschool for a few years, her dad is a fbi agent. Safe to say he made sure to treat that girl with the upmost respect & I never followed her on social media, last thing I want is for some fbi agent stalking me digitally
As if you not following her on social media stops you from being tracked, being unintelligent must make life either really easy or really hard for you lmao
For those of us who have been around a long time and who are steeped in history, we recognize that both departments have done wonderful things and both have done some very despicable things, most with the full help of the party in the White House which now makes people not believe some of the things that both protest to not be doing. The stories - the little that can be brought out would be comparable almost to what a country like Russia or North Korea would do. And this is just what we know about.
I’d go CIA since I don’t want kids etc.. but there’s also CIA couples, that get paired together, and get to work on missions together. But really… the NSA seems even more mysterious than the CIA to me (I know nothing BTW🤣👍). I figured they would have at least mentioned the NSA in the video. 🤷♂️ When it comes to my country.. I can go 100% sociopath naturally. I love America❤️💙🤍
My uncle is in the CIA. He was at the pentagon when it was hit on 9/11 but opposite side of the building. Thankfully. He works with satellites and that’s all our family is allowed to know. He’s said if we knew what he knew it would keep us up at night. 😅
If I had a choice, which one would I choose? Neither. I'm too old for both now. :P If I were younger, it would probably be FBI. I respect the CIA a lot, but the FBI's involvement with going after cyber criminals has more appeal to me as an IT person.
CIA is involved with cyber security, and would also be in the more offensive, as well as defensive measures. Basically, your Certified Ethical Hacker of steroids.
NCIS, JAG, and the Air Force special service all pretty much do the same thing just more geared towards investigations in the military. Most agents tend to want to be a major crimes field agent because it’s where action is. But depending on what you want the paperwork department is also there. Unfortunately only the director or their specific team can go into the so Called war room which is a center of operations for various need to know operations anywhere in the world. You literally have to have the security clearance to even stand there. The fbi is more the action now ask later type people while the CIA is more think first before passing it along. The credentials for NCIS, JAG, and Air Force special service are basically the same. If you have a background in law enforcement it’s a major plus but also a degree in computer engineering or tech. You must go through monthly physical training and be certified to shoot a variety of guns. The criminal investigation degree will help tremendously as you must gather evidence. Unfortunately you will see things that are just horrible. Unfortunately you may not speak of a lot of the work though as much is classified although past cases are ok.
Yeah right. That's a clueless remark and when I see any marks like that it only goes to tell me how little the person is that said it. Anarchy would run a muck and I mean not in a good funny way. I mean the nuts would come out of the woodwork and other countries would have us at a huge disadvantage.
Hoover change the FBI from a force that was used against political enemies into the premier law enforcement agency. By accomplishing this, he made many enemies, which are unchallenged with certain accusations of J. Edgar Hoover, since Hoover is dead, and many enemies aren't. The FBI seems to returning to it's roots as tool against political enemies currently.
This is the second time I've seen Brits "reacting" to this video and both times I was surprised because the two agencies are pretty much equivalent to Britain's MI5 and MI6.
Except the FBI and CIA have no relation to the military, unlike MI5 and MI6
The FBI equates to your MI5 where the CIA equates to your MI6 FYI.. Jim from Milwaukee
That's like comparing MI5 to MI6.They are differentists.
MI5 and MI6 perform functions similar to the FBI and CIA respectively.
I grew up in (and still live in) the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. When I was a school safety patrol, in elementary school, we got to take an invited tour of the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building in DC.

Agree. The FBI usually is involved if a crime crosses state lines. CIA is primarly overseas.
If Millie becomes a Fed I'm moving to Canada. ;)
3:19 they do some undercover but like Millie said they are just like cops
Apples and oranges. The FBI is internal, while the CIA is external.
Much like MI-5, VERSUS MI-6 in Britain.
So this isn't a fair comparison.
That's what they like to tell you.
There are three FBI TV programs on US tV including FBI, FBI International and FBI Most Wanted. While I cannot vouch for the veracity of their manifestations, they do provide for interesting watching
My grandmother worked for the FBI directly under Hoover. Always said he was a psychopath.
My grandfather was an accountant for the CIA.
Speaking of FBI I love watching the tv show The Rookie Feds. Cbs also has a tv show named FBI. Now there's a tv show involving a CIA Agent and that show is the Company you keep.

3:23 I've never heard Hollywood phrased like that. Totally going to use that lol
and the intelligent agencies they don't tell us about, that includes budget.

It is like the difference between MI5 and MI6. Pretty simple.
Yeah,I always thought the FBI was dealing with threats inside America and the CIA was to deal with threats outside the country.
The FBI is Federal police.
Yeah well I'm satisfied with my job at CONTROL. :)
Sorry about that, Chief. i missed it by THAT much.
@@CaptainFrost32 Lol...yep...they certainly don't make 'em like that anymore.
When Hoover was in charge of the FBI he wanted it to be his own private intelligence agency.
the FBI is more common. CIA is more international. however, average americans will never see them.
I've seen the FBI on occasion.
It's like MI5 VS MI6
I recommend you watch the series Homeland to better understand the CIA
I imagine it is like MI5 vs MI6?
0:15 not always right
You guys should buy UA-cam premium and just get rid of ads, all the videos you watch are on UA-cam

OSS -- Office of Strategic Services, some say that was the best U.S. intelligence agency.
Movie review "Feds".
the four year degree is supposed to be in law enforcement etc...

Watch criminal minds and blue blued
Agent Millie?
Some good CIA movies, are the Tom Clancy- 'Jack Ryan', movies.
The Hunt For Red October
Patriot Games
Clear and Present Danger
I saw all of those.

I have a t-shirt that says "NSA... the only government agency that cares enough to listen." They are also often referred to as "No Secrets Allowed."

😂😂😂😂!!!
I am an American, and I don’t trust either group…
You can trust both, thing is u don't know who is CIA. Could be someone you already trust.
Me either.
Exactly. Never forget Waco Texas!
The CIA is the better operation they operate outside of us jurisdiction and they're willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
The FBI operate outside of US jurisdiction too......
Another thing is that the CIA takes their special agents that deal with combat from SEAL Team members or SEAL Team 6 to.
It's only Devgru or CAG(Delta Force) they recruit from.
And other Tier 1 groups. Other than DEVGRU (Seal Team 6), other seal teams are Tier 2.
They're both evil and need dismantled.
Yeah right.

They are both arms of the deep state.
The real question is which is worse.
Hoover was a piece of work
Hoover change the FBI from a force that was used against political enemies into the premier law enforcement agency. By accomplishing this, he made many enemies, which are unchallenged with certain accusations of J. Edgar Hoover, since Hoover is dead, and many enemies aren't.
The FBI seems to returning to it's roots as tool against political enemies currently.
undercover? nooo, you impressions of both is from movies, not real life
Both go undercover all the time. With FBI, it's usually into drug cartels or white supremacy groups.
They are equally terrible.
Well, in my opinion. They’re both corrupt to the core.
The age limits are bs. I'm 48 & I qualify for most of it minus the being in shape.
