I'm actually a bit surprised that she didn't know who the Allies of WWII were as Brits were fighting alongside Americans on both the European and Pacific fronts :)
That question about citizens rights was not about other countries. It means all people in the US have the same protections, but can not vote in federal elections if not a citizen.
The question was worded poorly.
"We the people"@@Paulie-v2t
This must be a really old quiz. The Speaker of the House is now Mike Johnson, not Nancy Pelosi.
Mrs. Vicky, I "Heard" if you eat more American Foods it helps give you the answers through Osmosis, but that could just be an old wives tale 🤣😂🤣
Osmosis... I doubt they know that word. You gotta dumb it way down for these types.
@jettslappy7028 Wow, what a way to be condescending and nasty. Comments like that only make YOU look bad. Would you like it if someone said they needed to "dumb" down material for you, while they blanket labeled you. Please think before you write or open your Ignorant mouth.
@@jettslappy7028Wow, what a way to be condescending and nasty to others. Please think before you say stuff like that to others. Just plainly inappropriate, Childish and uncalled for.😡 How would you feel if someone said that about you? Think about that.
The question concerning a right only US citizens have had to do with while being in the states. The Constitution applies to everyone, either living in or visiting, but a few things pertain only to citizens, and one is that only citizens can vote in federal elections.
Can't believe she didn't know who were axis and allies in ww2...my goodness
the WW2 question I thought she would've known because it's the same answer for America and Britain
I laughed and said to the computer, ah come on, your British!!!!
Yeah, I was surprised that she missed that one too.
If you're surprised, you're not paying close attention to the way these people talk about stuff.
You did good on the citizens test because alot of Americans probably couldn't pass it I took it along with you and I believe you had more right then I got
She did great. ❤
In WWII Eussia still wasn't considered an allies but we had a common interest not letting Hitler succeed in occupation of Europe. When the war ended the U.S. And Russia negotiated the separation of Germany into east and west. A bit of history not taught in many schools.
James, your Mom is VERY SMART!!
Every state has its own army. It called the national guard. It can be activated to service as part of federal army
3:44 The founding fathers intended for the president to have been elected by the people. So the line of succession has all elected officials (vice president, the person in charge of the House of Representatives, the person in charge of the Senate) until the 4th in line, the Secretary of State. Reagan's Secretary of State made a major faux pas when he said "I am in charge" when Reagan was shot and underwent emergency surgery. The VP, would have been responsible for emergency decision making during the time that the president was under anesthesia, in the unlikely event that such an urgent decision needed to be made.
You did amazingly well. If you were truly trying to become a citizen, there is a book you would study well before taking the test.
I am 60 years old, so it has been a long time since I had any history or political science classes, so I didn't know some of these.
Don’t feel bad…most Americans would need to study in order to pass it!😂
Yes, SPEECH is first amendment.
Plead the fifth IS the 5th Amendment.
The fifth amendment also discusses eminent domain 😊
This is about to be awesome
Pleading the 5th does refer to the 5th amendment.
However, drinking a fifth, doesn't.
@@guyfaux3978 no I think that's in the Declaration of Independence where it says life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
6:57 should actually by April 17, because they extend it to Monday if the 15th is on a weekend. Plus you can file for an extension even longer if you have certain hardships.
Pretty good for not studying for months on end. The speaker of house is followed by the senate president pro-tem since they are elected. The secretary of state follows next since they are the highest appointed member of the cabinet. The question about the current speak of the house means that the test is at least 2 years old. All and all, I'd call it a passing grade.
❤❤ Ms Vicki you did great. Im 59 and was born and raised in the USA and I didn't know some of the answers. You, James, Millie and Archie are as American as most the Love you all show for America is astonishing appreciated and absolutely beautiful. Thank You.
Every states army is the Army National Guard, they do have their own.
1:58 The first amendment is about freedom of speech, including freedom of the press.
The second amendment technically says that citizens have the right to bear arms because a well armed militia is essential for national security. The founders also wanted to make sure that the citizens could fight against a military coup. This was possible given the technology back then, not so possible today.
The 5th amendment is the one that says that you don't have to incriminate yourself, hence "I plead the 5th".
The first 10 amendments are referred to as the Bill of Rights. They all pertain to the rights that individual citizens have.
The Fifth is also the double jeopardy amendment and the eminent domain amendment.
also under the the first amendment is to peacefully assemble
@@thegamerchef7220and freedom of religion.
Sadly, many high school graduates in the US couldn't pass this test.
It's still Roberts
My mother from wales passed it with flying colors
I got one wrong. But I enjoy studying US history. She did okay for a non- American.
Vicky, you did very well. So much better than I would do if I had to take a test about Great Britain!
This test is very hard. My wife took it in 1978 and failed the first time, having studied for 3 months. She studied for another 3 months and passed. It is not easy.
Bear arms, like the animal's arms, haha that's funny. Yes we all have the right to have animal arms, and just the arms, hanging on our walls. That's hilarious.
My hubby had a similar conversation with our son. About ball bearings. Son couldn't understand what bear was bearing his balls. Where was this bear and he did not see any balls. Hubby was doing his best to keep this hilarious conversation going. While trying his best to not spoil it by laughing! I'm pretty sure my boy still has no idea why the bear is bearing his balls!! Lol
Sad thing is there's probably 40%-60% of Americans that would fail the test without studying.
@@JayR.Feltus easily fail ,too despite the bravado'!
Not bad at all for a foreigner who had no chance whatsoever to prepare. Personally, I think that test is ridiculously easy.
Great job mom, certainly better than younger generation Americans these days!
The logic of the Speaker of the House being next in line is that he or she is an elected official. The president pro tempure is next in line after the House Speaker, so also an elected position. Secretaries of Defense and State are appointed positions. But if all the elected officials are not available then yes, the list from then are all appointed positions, starting with Treasury.
That was just a fun online test.. I helped a friend study for his citizenship test, they gave him questions and answers to 100 questions and he would be tested on 50 of those. It was hard, most Americans wouldn't pass it. Questions like who was the 4th president, name 5 of the first 13 colonies and what drew America into WWI. Plus he had to read and write in English and name his local politicians.
People who take citizenship test go to classes beforehand. I remember my Japanese mother going to class when I was young.
Interesting fact: My mother had to convert to Christianity in order to marry my dad right after WWII.
6:04 This one is poorly written. It means what right does a citizen of the US have that a non citizen residing in the US doesn't have.
Every state does indeed have an Army. It’s called the National Guard. Every state has an Air Force. It’s called the Air National Guard. Some states have a navy. It’s called the Naval Militia.
To always get the 1st amendment (the right of a free press) and the 2nd amendment (the right to keep and bear arms) in the right order just remember the old saying, “The pen is mightier that the sword.”
More American food will result in higher test scores 😊
My vote is for tacos 😋
Columbus Day is barely celebrated; it is generally state-by-state, and generally only banks are closed. On the other hand, Wall Street is closed on Good Friday and most people get Easter Monday as a paid holiday.
Cities have parades and schools, banks, post offices, gov't offices are closed for the holiday.
The fact you didn't know we fought Germany, Japan, and Italy in WW2 is kinda shocking.
We were allies in that war. We should know our history.
Very good that was great I had no idea what was on the test TBH. I remember my sister-in-law had to take it she's from Vietnam she did good and we went with her when she got sworn in as a citizen of the United States of America. That was very fun. But I had no idea what was on the test so this was a very good video. Though I don't know your mom might have got more of them right then I did LOL me and my mother were both a little bit concerned that we probably didn't know as much as my sister-in-law knows about our own country LOL but we'd never seen the questions or anything so we have no idea and it looks like we were right we would never have passed that test LOL these videos are fun thank you
Every state does have an army it's called the National Guard😂
The Spanish-American War was in 1898.
Italy, Germany and Japan were the axis power, Russia at the time was fighting German invasion and was part of the allied forces. Don't feel bad there are probably a lot of American Citizens who couldn't pass the test.
The first Amendment is Freedom of the Press, or Freedom of Speech. The second amendment, the right to bear arms, ensures the first amendment.
History is forgotten the farther we move away from WWII in Europe. Everyone remembers Hitler (and the retched Nazi Party) and uses his name to demonize an enemy, but they forget Mussolini, Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin. The Axis and the Allies. Poland, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, France, Russia, and all of North Africa suffered senseless loss of lives because of the ideology of a few terrible people. Then, of course is the Pacific War with great losses to Japanese, American, Australian, and Chinese people for the sake of Japan seeking to expand their empire. So many stupid things we humans do.
You did great. A lot of Americans wouldn't pass this test.
You did great!! I was surprised who many you got right.
I would have passed, but with about 5 wrong.
A ton of Americans might fail this test to be honest.
I live in Wisconsin here in the US and I was confused myself on a few. I doubt I would get any answers right on your history test. I doubt love history though. Cheers
Vicki did better than most Americans would
Mum's a cutiepie!!
In addition to questions like these, you would need to know the names of the Senators of your state, the Congressional Representative where you live, and the capital of your state.
Your mom did great. I love social studies and topics related to it. For Congress, we have 435 Voting House Members. The House of Representatives is based off of population. The Senate is based off of equal representation. Each State elects two Senators, so with 50 states and 2 senators per state, the Senate consists of 100 senators. Every Election cycle every two years, the whole House of Reps is up for election. Senators get elected to a six year term, with about 33% or roundabout of the chamber up every two years. In the election this year, The Republicans won a trifecta, The House narrowly, The Senate and The Presidency. In the House, the Democrats picked up 2 seats, shrinking The Republicans already very narrow majority to 220 (218 is needed for a majority) Democrats have 215 seats. If either party had a majority whoever was Speaker, Republican Mike Johnson (Louisiana) (our current Speaker) or Democrat Hakeem Jeffries (NY) it would be very hard to govern with any defections in their ranks. That is why the CR vote to keep the govt running was so tense and bad a few days ago.
Now for the Senate, The Republicans won an open seat in West Virginia, they flipped three seats from Democrat to Republican each in Ohio, Montana and Pennsylvania. This gave them a 53-47 majority in the Senate. The President Pro Tempore is the longest serving member of each caucus. The Democrats control the Senate until the New Congress convenes on January 3rd. The Current Pro Temp is Senator Patty Murray of Washington State. She has served in the Senate uninterrupted since 1993. On January 3rd, when the Republicans take Control of the Chamber, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa will become President Pro Temp again, He has served continuously in the Senate since 1981. He is 91 going on 92 years old. Also, the oldest serving members of The Senate. Also 82 year old Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky just retired from leadership in the Senate. He had been Senate Majority leader since 2006. He has served in the Senate since 1985. He will retire from the Senate when his term is up in 2027. I personally think we need Term Limits for Congress and teform to get the money and revolving door of goodies out of politics. This could make a more younger and eager to serve cohort instead of makinf only the more aged and connected only able to do it. I am personally against age limits for the sole reason that older people with younger and more vital minds with good ideas could not serve if they wanted to.
Finally, the President of The Senate (whose main job is a vote tie breaker in the Senate) is The Vice President of the United States. Kamala Harris will be VP until the New Vice President, J.D Vance is sworn in on January 20th, 2025. He will also be the Youngest Vice President ever elected ar 40. He will turn 41 this coming year. He surpasses Dan Quayle, who was 41 when he was elected with Bush 41 in 1988 and took office in January, 1989. I like all of your curiosity with our government and history. Keep it up, you all are doing great! To be fair also, the test is not updated and the question of who is speaker of the House is unfair because it changes frequently over the years.
When is the ladt day you can send in federal income tax forms?
My brother's birthday! 😂
The border question had two choices that were correct- Wisconsin and Vermont.
Wrong
@@wayneclark2823 I went back and watch at the video and two of the choices were Wisconsin and Vermont and they both border Canada. You are the one who is wrong. Delete your reply.
@@carriemaxwell417 It looks like it, but no, Wisconsin does not border Canada. If you look closely at a map you can see how both Lake Superior and Lake Michigan are divided up. Wisconsin's border to the north with Minnesota is in the middle of Lake Superior. Minnesota's portion of Lake Superior borders Canada. To our east/northeast, we border the state of Michigan in the middle of Lake Michigan. Michigan's portion of Lake Michigan borders Canada. So both Minnesota and Michigan got all the land and water that borders Canada and Wisconsin got none. I'm from Wisconsin by the way.
@@deborahquiroga5560 Understood.
I thought British mum was a bit dumb, I'm a 72yo Brit and got three wrong.
I missed one: How many amendments are there? I knew it wasn't 18 because the 19th is the one that gave women the right to vote. I had a 50/50 chance and chose wrongly. I know plenty of my fellow Americans that couldn't do as well.
I got 1 wrong. I chose Secretary of State instead of Speaker of the House. Dumb mistake.
Just a heads up...there are a lot of Americans who don't know a lot of what's on the test, so don't feel bad if you get some wrong 😅
270 is not the number of electoral votes. That’s how many electoral votes you need to win. The total number of electoral votes is more 535.
538
I'm so surprised that your mom got them so right.
The right to bear arms is the 2nd Amendment. The First Amendment is freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press.
98% of Americans couldn't pass it..
Most Americans can't pass that test so don't feel bad if you can't.
Most Americans could not pass this test.
Poorly written and out-of-date. Still got them all, but I am a fourth-generation native Californian.
She did better than most Americans so good job!
I'm sure you just needed to study a little to ace it.
I think you did pretty good
I’m still watching the video..but pass or fail mum..know that most Americans would fail this test
For the speaker of the house answer she says, I don't think that's right. LOL. Well, start your own country and write the constitution the way you want to. lol. We're sticking with ours. lol.
And this video is out of date, Nancy Pelosi is not currently the speaker of the house, Mike Johnson is.
I love these because it is so second nature to me, us. Used to be Secretary of State, but it is now the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson. To vote in elections. April 15th. Tommy J. FL wasn’t. George. Sp-Am war. FDR. Ruskies. VT.
Wait until I ask you about American Indians or Native tribes… when did the people land on Plymouth Rock? Sir Walter Raleigh began which colony? Lord Baltimore began which colony? Sir William Penn began which Colony?
Poor persons who couldn’t afford passage to the new world did what to pay their way? Indentured servitude or SLAVERY! To pay for their passage to the New World. Zero argument on this! We just argue their privilege on it!
Hey, no worries; most of our natural-born citizens wouldn't be able to get 12 correct, either! That's actually a bit of a joke amongst us! 😄
I'm a US citizen and got a few wrong. Nice try,!
Russia was one of the Allies. In fact they made up 75% of the Allied side in the war.
Secretary of State is the chief diplomat of foreign policy for the federal government , so no it shouldn’t be that person . The speaker of the House is involved with presiding over the casting the votes in the House and other House duties. Speaker has been crafting legislation that is why they are third in line. State in that case means the country like a sovereign state
After the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the next in line follows the creation order of each cabinet position. “State” was first thereby making the Secretary of State fourth in line. Treasury is next, then Defense and on down the line
Some of the questions were oddly worded, not making it clear
I doubt most US citizens could pass the test.
Great job
Why on earth would she want to do this?
To test herself and just have fun and learn. That's simply it. Hope you have a great day and Merry Christmas!
Most Americans wouldn't pass this
Most Americans would fail this test. 🇺🇸✌🏻
I am giving your mum the benefit of the doubt because I am sure she did not get a chance to study this information before hand.
Vicky you did ok,a large number of US citizens, including our current president could not do any better than you did. With a bit of study you would pass that test.
she'll do better than most Americans!
Good try - I would no nothing about England so impressed Vicki. You’re in - in my book!🇺🇸
As an American I FLUNKED TOO 😂😅😂😅😂 THAT'S SAD
Russia wasn't a country during WW2
Vicki make a list of the missed ?'s and you have to answer 2 correctly at the end of each cooking video.
I wish you wouldn't do these videos! America has so many concerns lately. We are trying to celebrate Christmas and half our country will be deported in a matter of weeks! Videos like these in a time of unknown just seem like a bad idea!
The majority of these bo one would get unless they're historians or on top of ALL politics.
Why on earth would you want to become an American? With what's coming up shortly next year I don't think the majority of intelligent Americans want to be there. You're way better off being in Britain. BTW really enjoy your vids.
