Do not flush with engine on if using the hose attachment on upper engine. The impeller on the water pump at the lower unit will not get water and will ruin the impellers in seconds. (never start engine period without earmuffs or an adequate size tub or bucket that water can feed into the lower unit holes. use upper hose attachment flushing without engine on.
I was flushing about 1 hour after running the boat in the sea. (Brine) I do not think the engine needs to be around any specific temperature. I just share my own experience of my boat.
Thanks for sharing , this flashes bottom side of the gear box section , not the engine part. FYI

The engine is turned off, of course.
Does it bring a screwcap so the water won’t come out the motor when you are on the water? Just curious 🧐
So just to be clear, It’s not necessary to turn the engine on during the flushing?
Walter Palermo I usually don’t
Bonjour
Quel carde à utilisez vous pour embout de tuyau ?
Where did you get the adapter to fresh water?
Exactly!
Amazon might have some
I bought it where you find parts for the garden. Not a unique product at all.
For example in Sweden you will find at Hornbach.
Hi Karl Ist das der 2-Takter ? Ich muss auch spülen. Über die "Ohren" geht das wohl nicht.
Does the engine have to be warm so the thermostat is open to flush this way?
