In this episode, I received packages from Philadelphia, Chicago and Arizona, all of which are places I want to go but have never been. I opened the items in the boxes and also talked about something I feel is important. The US elections were divisive, but my hope is that, in time, we can now get back to people cooperating for the good of all.
I also feel inspired. As many of you know, I went to the US as a guest of the US government in 2017, starting in Washington DC. This was a life changing experience for me, and really kick started all of my content and the relationship I have with so many of you. Can’t believe this needs to be explained, but here we are: for those un-subbing before even watching my video, ‘decides’ is not a misleading statement. Regardless of whether the process still has a way to go, decides still means the process could still be underway. ‘Decided’ would be a conclusive statement. Understand your English before attacking me.
People get their feelings hurt too easy here in the states. My fellow Americans tend to get caught up in emotions and take things wayyy out of context. I'm a big fan and you are entitled to your own opinions. I will keep watching brother. Stay safe.
if people are that hot-headed to make a mission before understanding something do you really want their sub? I get baffled by how quickly people can pull a 180 about someone. This is just a title it is meant to pull people in.

You know, it's a bit humbling to see and hear you talk about the US. We have a lot of inflamed passions right now, but to hear you talk about my country kind of puts things in a different perspective. I hope you're able to visit again. Do visit the Grand Canyon. You won't be sorry. And if you can visit Yosemite and Yellowstone.

Shaun, I just had to comment. I love your videos for being so honest, so open to Americans and so grateful to all of your subscribers. I've seen channels where they open gifts and they not only don't bother to say thank you, they throw the gifts to the side. It rankles me and offends me when someone has gone to all of the trouble and expense and thoughtfulness to send a present halfway around the world and it's treated like it's nothing. That said, can I just add Texas misses you and come back soon? Keep on learning about the States, they're all beautiful and they're all unique. It's what makes us a great country to visit. We have things come up but we're all Americans. When the chips are down, at the core we're one people and we will always get your back. :)

LOVE this video, Shaun. So much fun to watch you open boxes from the US. The star is beautiful and a great back drop for your videos. Although we appear divided we are at our core Americans. In fact, this very passionate response is the key to our democracy. I and many others work along side friends and family with opposing views. Despite what the media shows... The majority of Americans are moving forward regardless of whether their candidate won or lost. It's the people that run the country, not the government. We have a lot of checks and balances with in our government and states. 😉 Watching your video(s) put a big smile on my face. XoXo

My grandmother told me that her parents made 'bath tub gin' during that time...my great-grandparents came over in 1894 from Liliesleaf (Lilieshaf), Scotland.... Roxburghshire, The Borders.... I have their naturalization papers. :-) I was in Scotland for several weeks back in 2019....I toured the country as much as was possible; my heart is still there. It felt like I was 'home'. I WILL be back!! I'd love to spend every summer there.... Love from Texas! :-)

I'm in California too. My mom's family was all from Scotland. And the most sane of my family.
I was born in California but moved at 2 yo. I visit Northern California every year to see the redwoods and canoe. And eat seafood :)
I was born in DC and spent my youth all over the East Coast between seeing visiting Grandparents and family up and down the states. But I came to CA to go to USC and don't want to go back to the 🥶.

What lovely gifts! Chicago is my favorite city, even though I am only 30 min from St. Louis, lol. I will say St. Louis has alot of awesome things to see especially the STL Cardinals basaball team in Busch Stadium. Anheiser Bush brewery tours, the Arch, Union Station Aquarium...I could go on. Well... now that the election is over covid hysteria seems to magically be over, too.
When you are able to travel to the States again, you should consider coming to Colorado. We did have two devastating wildfires in the mountains this season but there is still much beauty left in the Rocky Mountains.

I lived in Colorado for several years and absolutely loved it. If it wasn't for family, I would still live there.

Thank you for your love of my country and positive words of encouragement. We miss traveling too and LOVE visiting the UK. We find so many kind people in our travels. It definitely expands your viewpoint and makes the world a smaller place. We are also praying that our country will come together after this election. There is so much anger, finger pointing, hate, and pandering to sensationalize people’s hot spots. It breaks my heart for our nation. Thank you for your videos. I immediately click when my notification of a new one comes across the screen. I live in Delaware, am retired, and wanted to go to Scotland my entire life. When I married my now husband in 2019 he took me to Scotland for our honeymoon. We spent a month going all across your wonderful country, and it exceeded all my dreams and expectations. We were planning to go back in May, but, sadly, Covid cancelled that. I read the Orkadian on a regular basis, and keep my fingers crossed for the health and welfare of all of you. Your First Minister has done a grand job taking care of all of you. Be safe and you and your wife stay well.
We drove though Chicago to get to northern Canada one time. It is a busy place. Lots of cars and people.

Well, as you can tell, there’s a lot of contention and anger in the US. We’re pretty torn. People are projecting their anger wherever they can, so I’m sorry that you’re encountering it. You’re 100% right that there’s a middle ground. But people have to be able to manage themselves in order to be open to it. Now, I hope for that next referendum, and for Scotland to have their moment to again decide their future.
The problem is America’s future has not been decided. I’m guessing no one took him on a tour of the fake news media propaganda machine. Our future is still very much uncertain so prayers are welcome. Please pray for us!

The handmade wooden flag actually brought tears to my eyes over the time, effort and love that went in to making it. My ancestry is from Scotland on my Dad's side and England on my Mom's side so I guess I am a good U.K. American 🤣. Your remarks were filled with such common sense that I was actually embarrassed to realize how the U.S. is perceived overseas. Thank you for your for your kind words about America and it's citizens. Our media would have us believe that we are not "liked" very much by other countries. No one should believe this! I love to travel, and of course I miss it under our current circumstances. I have come to find over a lifetime of international travel that quite the opposite is true. We are open, friendly, kind , generous and enthusiastic people. Sometimes we're misunderstood as well. I have made wonderful and lasting friendships that I cherish. I loved Scotland when I visited a few years ago. I found the Scots to be kind, friendly and a lot of fun! The Irish are as well. Hopefully you'll make it back to the U.S. soon and especially my beautiful city of Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas! You need to visit Pennsylvania, so many people of Scottish ancestry, as I am myself. Best wishes to you!

I didn't realise things were so bad in Scotland that people needed to send them care parcels. Lol. Some great presents there & very usefull things for someone who has just moved into an apartment. Stylish clock, lovely cushion, mug for hot drinks, glass for cold drinks. All these things will help to make the flat more homely. Great tee shirts. How kind people are.

You're right, we need to find a middle ground, because each side is extreme... And you know what they say "If you go far enough to the left or the right you end up in the same place".
The conspicuously large pile of bodies on the left would indicate otherwise. Mao. Stalin. Pol Pot. Kim. Hitler. etc... The problem is most assuredly not "both sides."
Chicago is awesome!!!!! Highly recommend. If you come, do the architecture boat tour. Great way to learn a lot about the city's history in a very entertaining way.
You get a lot of goodies in the mail. Are you planning on doing a taste test of some of the things from other countries? I think that would be so much fun to watch! Hope you and the Mrs. are doing OK on lockdown.

By the way, that's AL Capone on the shirt.
He was a famous gangster from back in the Prohibition days. The Thompson machine gun that he and his cohorts used got the nickname of "the Chicago Typewriter" from the stories written in blood by those guns on the Chicago streets by guys like Al Capone.
The quote on the shirt, "don't confuse my kindness for weakness," has been attributed to him. We often use that expression still today.

I think that is why American's are so passionate about political or religious topics. We just need to remember that America ""IS"" the middle ground and we don't have to go far to find it. Shaun, you mentioned Arizona during the video. First off, Gilbert is a Phoenix suburb. Secondly, yes, AZ can be stifling hot, and be warm enough in the southern part of the state to draw "snowbirds" (retirees who head to a warm climate for the winter). However, in the northern end of the state, around Flagstaff, which is near Grand Canyon, it snows. In other words, Arizona is a state with an amazing amount of variety.
