I have that exact same year/model in the corner of my garage. The engine is a beast but the suspension was too soft for the MXers to like it. Foertunately, a suspension too soft for MX makes it wonderful on the trauils. This 43mm KYBs remain the most comfortable and rideable boingers Ive ever been on.

I had one that I blew up first ride and had to push it for miles on the beach fix it than blew the gearbox up

Lucky I was fit back then it’s was 4 km in soft sand nearly killed me .2.2 miles I think that is .

I just bought a 2001 kx250 a couple weeks ago. It’s been amazing I love the mid end power. it sounded unappealing at first but after riding it lots the past couple weeks I wouldn’t want it any other way
