    My dude finally did it lol. Nice choice, I have the exact same knife. Nothing wrong with the wave feature imo, it's convenient. And as for the pocket clip, they all come that way. I love spyderco, but not a fan of their clips either. I went with mxg deep carry clip as well and will try lynchnw next time just to have both. I'm not swapping the scales on this one either, it's perfect as is.

Heck you even got some magic tricks to throw out like (NS). You have a bright future in store for you, keep it up !

    When I was a kid, I was told that if I wanted a knife I had to learn how to care for it. I like quite a few brands, but Spyderco is my Go-To knife company. I have more of their knives than my Benchmade, ZT & Kershaw collections combined. I just picked up a Shaman Saturday (08/26/23) & I would be more impressed with it if it was a fixed blade instead of the Sub-Par folder they put on the market.
    If I didn't have a 99 mile drive each way to return it in Cheyenne, WY - I'd already be on the road to get my money back. The SpydieChef is a great knife and it's one of my most carried knives!

      I think a lot of people are fine with the spyderco standard clip they just don't feel as inclined to speak up as those who don't like it..the one really good thing about spyderco not changing anything is that there are a ton of aftermarket options since most of the screw patterns are the same and have never changed...as for the ranking.. I'm still in the process of figuring out if I like it better than my Para 3 or not! We will see 😅

    Hey man I’m glad you’re enjoying your pm2! I’m saving up for a lefty pm2 as my next big purchase! Although I’m sure I’ll like it more than my para 3 because there’s no left handed compression lock for the para 3 and although I can comfortably use a right handed one I can’t wait to see what it’s like using one as it’s designed to be used rather than with my thumb!
    Ps I am a huge fan of the purple scales too! Too bad you can only get the base version for lefties :(

    I have always carried tip down on knives that offer it. Especially on knives on the larger side. It’s much faster to open without needing to adjust your grip. Also, in a scenario where you may need to put the knife away in the other pocket, it’s much safer tip down.
    Plus, on a Spyderco the thumb hole jimping gets in the way when you pocket the knife tip up, frequently causing hang-up when the jimping rubs against the lip of the pocket.
    Tip up on the P2 always requires removing the knife from the pocket, adjusting your grip, then opening. It’s cumbersome compared to tip down.
    Tip down also rides a bit lower than tip up with the stock clip.

  • @aintwhatitaint8626

    I actually had a set of RGT Ti scales ready for this knife when I got it, but I loved the purple so much, it gave me an excuse to buy another PM2 🤣
    The PM2 was my first purchase after carrying my 740-1 for YEARS, and honestly is the knife that sent me over the edge into buying wayyyy too many knives. I love spydercos, I've got 11 now, and they never miss. I've tried many other knives, and it's hard to find one to kick it out of my pocket. Inkosi and Deka are close, but man, the PM2 is hard to beat imo. Out of 40 something knives (some honorable mentions - deka, inkosi, sage 5, para 3, Magnitude, Emerson Appalachian, ZT0450) there mayyyy be some I like more, but I can't be sure, because the PM2 IS the bar by which I've judged them. Possibly why i have 3 😁 Glad you finally picked one up, I'm antsy to hear the grail or garbage.

      My first spyderco was the manix 2 and the rest is history😂 I get other knives and then I come right back and get more spyderco's, I'm not done either, I need a shaman, sage, spydiechef, native, dragonfly, stovepipe and a few others to round out my list...damn you spyderco..damn you!

    • @aintwhatitaint8626
      @aintwhatitaint8626 2 роки тому

      @@Rollshambo it do be like that. I need another manix, I gave mine as a last minute, I forgot, "oh ****" birthday gift literally the day I got it. I never replaced it. I wanted a stovepipe until I realized how small it was, now I'd pick one up if i got it cheap. I need a chef and Dfly 🙄 the sage 5 is a good contender for top spydies, I got the BHQ and man, they do some good stuff in Taiwan these days. The Native is beefy, for its size (lil or og) and feels like a workhorse. The blade shape lends itself to feeling less likely to be fragile. I think the hype on the smock and shaman turned me off, it's not that I don't want one, but my interest piqued on both when the secondary and availability were bonkers, and it's too late to get it back now. Spydercos are definately well made, i hate the term fan boy, because I've purposely sought out a knife to replace them in my favoritism, and some have or have came close... However, Spyderco makes something for everyone, and typically do it well.
      I apologize if I ramble, but I don't get to share my addiction outside of trying to tell people to stop buying overpriced crkts off the strap-on truck at work... 😂😂

    Obviously not the point of this video, but that bladehq steel rankings thing is pretty terrible.
    Larrin made a great video (and article, linked in description) that's not only much more extensive, but also accurate.

    • @Rollshambo
      @Rollshambo  2 роки тому

      I have no doubt Larrins direct videos and articles provide more detail it's just really easy to get lost in the sauce talking about chromium percentages and the size of carbides...what's interesting to me is that on the BHQ website they say that they collaborated with Larrin on their knife steel guide...maybe I shouldn't have taken that at face value

      The bhq chart has been completely overhauled since I last saw it. Its definitely better, I imagine most people would find Larrin's charts _easier_ to read, but who knows.
      Larrin's data has Cruwear 5/10 edge retention, m390/20cv/204p 6.5/10. BladeHQ has Cruwear 8/10 m390/20cv/204p 7/10.
      I wouldn't take anything anyone has to say at face value, especially when they're trying to sell you something.

    • @Rollshambo
      @Rollshambo  2 роки тому

      @@CNYKnifeNerd that's fair. something that is worth consideration is the difference in hrc. in the 200$ price range with Spyderco reliably heat treating their cruwear upwards of 64-65 hrc I wouldn't be shocked if during testing it shows better edge retention than m390 knives in the same price range at 59-60 hrc..what the industry gets away with when heat treating m390 is egregious 😂😭

    • @retardno002
      @retardno002 Місяць тому

      Dr. Thomas' tests are done on steel coupons which have been heat treated 'optimally' so in theory M390 has a better 'peak' edge retention, but maybe the BladeHQ charts involve testing actual mass produced knives where heat treatment varies, and CruWear might be easier to get just right... There's also more than one kind of edge retention, fine edge and working edge, so that can change results as well. From my experience M390 holds a fine edge for longer but CruWear will just keep going forever after losing that initial sticky edge.

      So far I'm going to go with wisemen fang over the pickpocket specifically for the pm2..for the yojimbo the pickpocket from 5x5 is the way to go...main issue is that it's difficult to get the pickpocket to stay secure on Para 3 or pm2..I'm testing it out on my Para 3 right now with blue loctite so we will see if it's a solid solution, if not I'm tossing it and getting another fang😂
