      @@lnz971 it's quite enjoyable actually, and a lot of knife enthusiasts go through the same pattern lol. Everyone praises Spyderco so much that at first you want to think they're wrong. And kinda ugly. But then you try one and you get why they're so praised. It happened to me as well, I was getting GiantMouse and Viper Knives and Benchmade trying to avoid Spyderco, and then I got a Para 3 LW in CPM SPY-27. Then a Para 2 in CruWear. Next I'll get a Para 2 in MagnaCut. I'm hooked. The compression lock, the distal taper, the ergos, the heat treatment, the aftermarket options, it's a knife enthusiast's wet dream.

    When I first saw a Spiderco I thought they were really ugly. Then I purchased a Spyderco para3 exclusive because I liked the colors. After this, you might say it was a love affair with Spyderco. Recently, I visited Spyderco out in Golden Colorado. What an amazing trip. The staff out there are warm and genuine and believe in the product. I hope to go back there soon. Now I have six Spyderco knives, hoping to add the PM2 to my collection. Purchased a dragonfly pink for my wife recently and I wasn’t sure if she would use it. The other day, getting the keys out of her purse and saw that that knife is in the pocket of her purse and she uses it. They are functional and great working knives for different Occasions and activities. All of mine, but the exception of one, are in my pocket and being used. You can’t go wrong with a Spyderco.

    I keep a PM2 Magnacut in my plate carrier as a duty knife. I carry a Para 3 (the new SPY27) in my pocket on and off duty. They are similar enough that the smaller size Para 3 just works better in the pocket than the PM2. I have a couple of full sized Military 2s as well. One in S30 and the other in CruWear. Those are my favs of the bunch and I carry them hiking or camping, or if I feel I’ll need the extra blade length. I’ve carried a Military series knife since 2001. I don’t think you can beat them regardless of the size you pick. The bushing pivot setup gives them the best action. It’s like they are on bearings. They are simple to maintain, easy to sharpen, have enough variations out there to suit anyone’s wishes, are pretty much bomb proof (except those tips), and have that signature look that is all business. The design aesthetic is all bauhaus. What’s not to love?

    I love both the PM2 and Para 3 and own several versions of each but the Para 3 finds its way into my pocket more than the PM2. If you can get one of each in hand, figure out which feels best and get that one is my go to advice. The best part is, you can’t really go wrong with either one.

    I went through this exact dilemma for over an hour in a local knife shop today! The ONLY reason I went with the para 2 is because of how well it married to my hand and today I wanted a more "full size" folder with a full handed grip (without the front choil). However I will be most definitely acquiring a para 3 asap because of how difficult of a decision it was.

    I only ever had one Spyderco, a stainless Delica that a friend of mine turned me onto about ten years ago, and has been my EDC ever since. I went looking for a replacement EDC, just because, and I now own 7 Spyderco, along with a few Byrd and other brands, from that search. I wanted to like the Manix 2 in S30V, and I do, it's just big, so I tricked it out with some Titanium hardware. The PM2 in S45V came next. It too is large, but the compression lock tab pinches my finger every time I flick it open. The Native 5 in S110V is really pretty in the Blurble, and feels great in the hand, but the thickness of the scales, location of the thumbhole, and the nature of the lockback make it the hardest of the group to open. I picked up a cheap Tenacious in Chinesium, and it quickly became my favorite. So much so, I got another one in CPM-M4. That will probably be my new EDC. I'm not the fidget type, but I like the compression lock, and will eventually get a Para 3 to add to the collection. Maybe, being smaller, it won't pinch me, Lol.

    • @GBall_Vision
      @GBall_Vision  7 місяців тому +1

      Try and mess around with various grips when it comes to those compression locks, they can be a little tricky at first, but I think if you kind of mess with different grips and that type of thing you'll find a little looser of a grip on the knife and leaving that pointer finger kind of off which might feel kind of awkward at first, but eventually will become second nature. Kind of resting it on the pivot If you will, when I pick up a Spyderco my hand naturally does it now

    What I like about Spyderco: the steels, the usefulness and ergonomics . I applaud their collaborations and willingness to do things like the dodo. Salt series.
    Dislikes: limited sprint runs in new steels, DETENTS esp in titanium knives with Reeve lock, rare use of titanium, warranty, inability to buy parts even screws. Not keen on blade to handle ratios. 8cr18mov steel anywhere in a Spyderco branded knifesteel how about 154cm instead?
    Wishes: Axls -locks start with sage 6, button compression locks. Sprint runs minimum 1500, 3000 in Hot steels 15v. Additional spokesmen Eric G and Michael J are great how about shawn Houston as a steel evangelist.

    We don’t need Spyderco CS, not so much because Spydercos never go wrong, but because spare parts are so readily available. I always returned defective knives, which are rare, immediately, and have never failed to get my money back.
    I LOVE the fact that I can take them apart, for tuning, customization, etc., and if I break or lose something, parts are easy to get! And I love the fact that there are so many excellent aftermarket scales and other parts, to make my knives almost “as unique as I am…”
    Paramilitary 2s and Para 3s are, in fact, an entire world unto themselves… They are “my kind of knife.”

    Why all the Spyderco knives are so smooth when they are not on bearings just the

    and drop shutdown like knife on bearings.

    • @GBall_Vision
      @GBall_Vision  8 місяців тому

      My guess is and it's just a guess but they may have them polished or do the polishing themselves. I've noticed with mine they are tight but smooth and then break in to be very smooth. Spyderco and TRM have the best washer knives in the game. It must have to do with the quality and finishing of the washers. Thanks brother 🤜🏻💥 hope that helps

    • @yankee2yankee216
      @yankee2yankee216 7 місяців тому

      The bearings are of course phosphor bronze, an alloy noted for its extremely low coefficient of friction, but the snappy, smooth, drop down action is still amazing. So amazing I think, that I have way too many of them! There are other knives as good, or even better, but those usually cost quite a bit more (PM2s and P3S top out about $250). Paramilitary 2s and Para 3s should be all any man (or woman) will ever need.

    "you need at least one"
    Why though? What will I miss if I don't get one?

    • @GBall_Vision
      @GBall_Vision  8 місяців тому

      You don't have to get one. But These are quality knives, some of the best and most utilitarian of all pocket knives all time. They focus on function, Great steel options, great heat treats, amazing factory edges, strong lock up, great ergonomics, easy to carry and fun to carry. Hard to say that about most, the idea is if you want great quality and to experience it. Get one

    Always thought they were ugly and over priced.... Until I got a PM2. Now my wishlist has almost a dozen Spyderco knives, from Smock to Delica wharnie in K390.

    Anyone that’s a knife enthusiast should learn how to sharpen your knife. I have always used wet stones or diamond stones. No matter the edge they come with mine is better. Polished edges don’t last as long as toothy edges but are sharper. But anyway yeah get an old timer and a diamond stone and get used to sharpening your tools. I wouldn’t learn on a high end knife either unless you like scratches on your blade.

      i agree, within circumstance, i think it should be something that is learned over the course of time for sure, me personally i will sharpen certain knives, other knives i will have someone else do

    Had a 20CV PM2, chip so easy, dont stab with him, will crack so easy. Not wort that money.

    • @GBall_Vision
      @GBall_Vision  9 місяців тому

      Well 20cv isn't the toughest steel. It's more for cutting long term and slicing. That what I use mine for. If I have stabbing to do and I'm picking a spyderco. It'll be the S30V tanto pm2 or the cruwear para 3 or my m4 smock. You want to try and use the steels to their pros brother

    The Military version is the only knife worth the high pricetag with a needed 4" blade. Rather purchase a Benchmade AFO 2 auto and no minis

      Imo Folding Knives have a place, all sizes and styles, from small to big and thin and slicey to thick Beasty blades. Fixed Blades have a great place as well

    Compression lock is not a liner lock in the slightest, mechanically it is entirely different

    • @GBall_Vision
      @GBall_Vision  Рік тому +1

      It's literally a reverse liner lock brother. Instead of the liner hitting on the bottom of the tang the top liner hits the top of the tang. And there's a stop pin. Still a reverse liner lock but still an incredible lock
