    With the naps here's what we do (our kids are the same ages- 2.5 and almost 9 months). Baby takes a nap on the go in the morning if were going to go out and do something. She usually falls asleep on the car ride there but only gets a short nap, then when we come home she's ready for her second nap at the same time as the 2.5 year old just after lunch. They both take a long afternoon nap then.

    One video a week is still so much! For the naps, I just moved my older kid to nap at the same time in the afternoon. It didn’t work *every* day at first on the baby’s end but it does over time. You’ve got this!

    Thank you for being raw about motherhood. Like showing when Rowan accidentally poked you with the pencil and about the quilt! I love that you’re brutally honest and admit when you are overwhelmed and have too much under your belt. Take it one day at a time mama, if you can only do a video a week, so be it! Your mental health is first, and we’ll always be here to support you! ❤️

    I know you all live in a much colder state than I do, but with noise and naps, I find that getting my oldest outside during my younger kids’ naps helps a ton and trying to line up naps to overlap at least a little bit helps so much! Having the naps be versatile is also super helpful. Being able to adjust nap times a little bit helps to balance any given day. And dropping down to one video a week is 100% something I would support because being present with your kids and Matt is the most important thing! Those of us that love your content will still be here no matter how many videos you do. Keep putting yourself and your family first and your content will thrive because you’re thriving. We love you and your content and will always support you in what you do! ❤

    Megan, first let me say, I totally understand EXACTLY how you’re feeling. You’re doing an amazing job! My kids were the exact age difference apart (they’re now a year or so older than yours, so still young) than yours are now. My tips for helping with differing nap times (especially with an older boy as well, and young daughter), were to actually encourage learning how to be quiet. It’s a skill I believe is very important for young toddlers to learn because it teaches them to be considerate of others who may become overstimulated easily, and/or how to behave in public vs. privately at home. Best thing I taught our oldest was the difference between our INSIDE voices vs. our OUTSIDE voices. Physically show them what this looks like, and practice practice practice! They will catch on FAST, and you will appreciate it so much because this helps with those wonky nap schedules. Positive reinforcement for this is key as well. Another big tip is to use a special (quiet) toy bin that you bring out only when little miss is sleeping (so he gets his own play tine, but knows when to be quiet and what is permitted during nap-times). The terrible 3’s were the hardest for us (it does carry into year 4 as well, so prepare for that), but this is what worked WONDERS for us. I would also have Rowan say Goodnight to sissy BEFORE the bin is pulled out (if you use this method), because then he’ll know to expect it and understand that it means quiet time after sissy goes down. Hope this all helps! ❤

    Hey! I have a 2.5 year old and a 5 months old. And me and my husband work from home. So by the weekend we need to get out! On Saturdays we sometimes order breakfast for pick up at a local place right when we wake up. Then we have a short time to wake up and make coffee get everyone in the car and pick up the breakfast. we eat at the park, or at our parents house (they have a nice outdoor space). It just gets us out of the house really early, I don't have to make breakfast, and we are back home in a couple of hours for a nap.

    I switched my baby girls naps! So she wakes up at 6/6:30 then goes down at 9/9:30 wakes up at 10/10:30 then goes back down around 12:30/1ish. My toddler goes down around 12:30/1 because he gets up from 6-7.
    Hope that’s helpful!
    Two naps is such a hard schedule!
    Also my time to “get out” is her first nap. I just let her snooze in the car and just let that nap be her shorter one.

    I struggled a lot when my daughter was a baby because I put so much stress on her sleep schedule. I was chained to my house all the time because I was so worried she would miss a nap. I struggle with always asking my toddler to keep it down so she won't wake up her brother but recently stopped and just let her be, he got used to the noise. I just keep the room super dark for him and keep his sound machine loud. ❤

    My two are about the same ages as yours, and I've totally embraced carrier or stroller naps. (Especially for the morning nap.) I need to get out and do stuff, especially for the 2.5 year old. So the baby naps on me or in the stroller and some days a nap only lasts 20 minutes. But that helps me feel productive and happy and the kids are happy and doing what they are supposed to do.

    I asked my dad, who works in agriculture, about you soil sample and if there was anything you can do. He said there wasn't really any quick fixes. Just to avoid using fertilizers with those nutrients in them. He mentioned looking at your soil's ph levels. If they are high then the plants can't take up the nutrients that are already there. Adding sulfer lowers the ph levels.

    Hi! I have 4 little kids (ages 5, 4, 3, and 1...pregnant with my 5th). All of them nap at the same time. It's usually my main aim in regards to naps. I start adjusting the oldest naps to the younger one once it's feasible. So as soon as I can get my youngest to nap at like...11. They all do. Then with time I start to push the youngest later until it s at about 12:30. My 5 year old isn't quite ready for no nap. He starts to get a little sickly looking without naps and sleeps fine at night. They'll nap at the same time before you know it and if it helps push your oldest to nap for as Ling as your comfortable!

    Do what you need to. Family comes first. As a fellow SHAM, I know how easy it is to feel a little burnt out, and I don't have another job to think about either. My kids are all 3 years apart, so they were pretty much done with naps when the next one came along. My second was 8 months old when the lockdown happened and unfortunately never really learned to stroller or car nap. Having his almost 4 year old brother around did get him used to noise, but it was ruff. We definitely relied on the white noise machine to help block some of the household noise. Now, the boys (6 and 3) are both in school, which is a game changer for my 6 month old. She gets a quiet morning nap, and after drop off, I get the dishwasher uploaded and a relaxing cup of tea before I have to pick up my 3 year old.
    The weather is till all over the place in my part of the country too. Monday, it was snowing, and today, the temp is in the 80s 🤷‍♀️.

  • @frankiebee2980
    @frankiebee2980 Рік тому

    My tips for the inverted nap is that I don’t take my littlest ones first nap super seriously, unfortunately 🫣 So that first one is sometimes just a car nap, sometimes it’s a stroller nap in the grocery store, it’s a wrap nap while we are at the park. But some days it’s just not the 1.5/2hrs it should be. But then I take the final nap very seriously (by then, I’m tired from the day anyway 😂) and let him sleep for a WHILE. It doesn’t solve having a break, but it does let you leave the house more often - which is a break in itself!

I wake him every morning at 7, he naps 9:30-10:45/11, then again 2-3:30ish. 2.5yo wakes around 8 and naps 1:30-3. That gives me 2-3 as time where both boys are down! I know my baby’s morning wake window is a little short and his evening wake window is a little long, but I NEED them to overlap for my own sanity lol. I can expand on this if it would help!

    This is for nap transition discussion: I don’t have two kids but we sleep trained our daughter and has been on a nap schedule. But I travel to work and work from home and she’s always with me. She turned 2 in March and for 2-3 months now it has been hard to get a consistent 2.5 hour nap. We get one of those maybe once a week. And the main reason it started was because her environment couldn’t be completely dark. We just know that she goes to bed by 6:45/7 on those days when her nap ends at 2 or before.
    So what I’m trying to say is, even with just one kid, we have learned to wing it when we need to. So if you need to do something fun during his nap, do it, sacrifice the long nap for the memory or whatever. Bc tomorrow can be different.

    Hi Megan! I just wanted to hop on to say that you and Matt are such a great couple - and amazing parents to Rowan and Juniper. My grandson is Rowan‘s age, and honestly, I think they are the cutest, sweetest boys ever. And Juniper is a little doll. Sending hugs your way!! 💙❤️

    If you want to use the bed spread try stripping the quilt before you make a final decision - laundry stripping is a weird and wonderful thing lol

    I'm fine with one video a week! we don't want you to burn out so they will be no videos at all! A few years ago I watch the class from Tabatha Coffey on creative live 'How to be Bold, Resilient & Better Than Ever' ( you can always catch a replay for free sometimes ) and a sentence that still resonates with me is that 'you can't serve water from an empty vessel! And I do spend more time taking care of myself because by doing so I'm also able to better take care of my family!
    Is that a problem that your soil is too rich? Do you think that it will burn some of the roots of your plants? I guess that you can always mix some sand to make it poorer :-)

    I'm curious, when do consequences come into play for ripping a quilt or even dangerous behavior like poking with the pencil in the face or the eye. Thanks for your feedback

    • @Matt_Acuna
      @Matt_Acuna Рік тому +2

      There are no consequences. He isn’t doing these things on purpose to misbehave. We let him know the negative impacts of the behavior and how we can do it differently. It’s a matter of being aware of his body and his surroundings. He wasn’t intentionally trying to hit her in the face with the pencil, but cast the “freeze wand” and didn’t know her face was right there. Two year olds aren’t known for their keen awareness haha.
      The quilt - “what happens if I pull this?” He’s not sitting there going MWAHAHA I’m going to break the quilt! Just exploring the world around him and learning how things work. So we show him what happened as a result of his actions and hopefully he doesn’t do it again. Never know what lessons are going to stick with a toddler 😂

    • @MeganAcuna
      @MeganAcuna  Рік тому +1

      We don’t do spanking or time outs but we use “related consequences” (i.e. he hit me in the face with the pencil so I instituted a rule about how the pencil can and can’t be used.) With the quilt I sat down and had a talk with him about being respectful of our things, but again I’m not going to film that because that wouldn’t be respectful to my kiddos. He didn’t intentionally try to hurt me or break anything but like Matt said he’s testing boundaries and how the world works.

      @@MeganAcuna I appreciate you sharing your approach. I completely understand about not filming that because I agree with you You give up an awful lot of your privacy more than I could ever do but there is a point where it would not be respectful to those in your family. Is there a vlog that you would consider doing sharing that approach at appropriate age levels that you've been through so far? I have a lot of people around me that have children and they struggle with a wide range of what's the right thing to do. Anyhow thanks for sharing your approach.

    My son has just entered another biting phase (he's now got his two top teeth coming in, I'm guessing thats why), and oh my gosh, do I yelp EVERY time. I don't know HOW you're supposed to "not make a big reaction" when they chomp on your nip because that HURTS. No advice really, just sending solidarity 😅
    Also, I think you do amazing with everything that you do and I hope that 1 video a week gives you a chance to catch up and rest a bit.

      Thank you for realizing that just because something has been made political or been used by political folks does not mean it is political. It's about saving our planet. Things in this world with a mutual benefit for us all should never be politicized because that divides us. Just my thought thank you for sharing

      She doesn’t bring politics into her channel as far as I can remember. Saving our planet should never be a political issue! It’s only made political by the oil and coal companies that don’t want to loose money and don’t care about the planet!
