How many high-rise buildings have had their foundations undercut by storm surge and will be in danger of collapse in the near future?

• @pattrickmerete
@pattrickmerete 2 роки тому +7

perhaps nothing since they are made from concrete and steel. They also have a very deep foundation.

• @Rosie05610
@Rosie05610 2 роки тому +1

@@pattrickmerete Concrete foundations are porous, and water fills in any pores it can find. Over time, the water can seep into the concrete foundation and ultimately break down the concrete. This break down will cause the foundation to crack, which will in turn cause foundations to shift and the home/building to become unsettled.

That is why dams are still standing... Some 200 yrs for the steel & concrete to soften from water incursions into it...
And this was all Salt Water which accelerates the deterioration of the material used...
Get Real Lady 👀🤣🤣🤣😳

• @pattrickmerete

@@Rosie05610 i think no especially if it's bedrock deep. Taiwan and Philippines have a good building code model. They build typhoon, erosion, and earthquake proof structures and they are all made from concrete and steel with foundations that are bedrock deep. Im pretty sure the US have such standards as well when it comes high rise structures.

All of you nasty people on here with your snarky remarks need to go get a life and get out of the judgement seat. It is pathetic how many of you come out when something like this happens. Your turn could be next. When nature rampages nobody is exempt. I would guess most of you do not get out to help build anything positive. You just consume and stick your noses in when you can put down someone else.

There needs to be more legislation for 1. Insurance companies to insure fairly, and 2) build codes requirements and restrictions in flood zones. If you're going to build hotels and houses on the flat beach like that. What else do you expect when a hurricane comes. Anywhere on the beach in FL and the Atlantic up to NC and on the gulf coast can get hit by a hurricane. I am surprised if any of these hotels or houses are insured anymore. State farm stopped all new insurance requests anywhere near the beach in Mississippi, and now there is a named storm clause for all houses in the US.

Terrible hurricane! A lot of people died, I'm sorry. Did you know that for 9 years the US government has been leading a political storm in Eastern Europe? The Ukrainians were set against Donbass and Russia, a lot of Russians and Ukrainians died. When Russia decided to stop this political storm, the US government decided to support the Ukrainians in Ukraine and gave them a lot of money, weapons and soldiers. Now the fire and the hurricane of war has flared up even more! Why did you detain the Ukrainians of Ukraine? So that there would be destruction and people's blood would sweat like a river, and you would sit in satiety and well-being? And your military industry received orders and gave you income? So you are profiting from the blood of Russians and Ukrainians! But the Lord saw your hypocrisy and began to punish you with the same measure with which you judge others. And this is just the beginning, repent and stop your reckless government led by madman Biden!

@@stringer-ik1pc very cool. Well, if it was 400 years old in Florida, is would have been built in 1622.
Lol, I just reread my sentence. It doesn't matter if it was in Florida or elsewhere. 1622 is 400 years ago in Europe or Africa.
My meaning, however, is that if you have a 400 year old house you live in, you don't live in Florida. No house built in Florida in 1622 would still be standing today.
How many people do you know live in 400 years old houses?

I don’t understand why North Americans don’t build with concrete in places like this. Their houses are
Made with wood and other weak materials. Besides don’t understand why they don’t build their houses on top of pillars so their houses don’t get flooded.
Oh well I feel sorry for those who lost their homes and hope help gets there quickly. 😢

- NAHUM 1:3 -
The LORD is slow to anger,
and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked:
*the LORD hath His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.*
Proverbs 15:29 - The LORD is far from the wicked: but He heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Proverbs 16:4-5 - The LORD hath made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Proverbs 15:32-33 - He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

just shows everyone that building codes, mooring codes and building in storm prone areas needs to be re examined and usually anything planted in these areas , not native to the area, is subject to destruction including people, cats dogs etc..the lizards and the native species probably fared off better.

As storms become worse and worse it'll be interesting to see how the coasts and tornado zones will empty. There's no point rebuilding if it's just going to be destroyed the very next year. It'll be fun to see how neighboring areas deal with the influx of people since they can't just label them unwelcome foreigners like they do everyone else fleeing natural disaster.
