If you look closely when the hummer first hits the skid plates you can see that GMC put timbers in some of the mudholes! Damn manufacturer course, I want to see this thing do real life courses!!!
It's pretty damned impressive if you ask me. You guys hit the wow points: surprisingly good driving dynamics for a 9K pound tall brick, acceleration and torque most people will never dive deep into, incredible off-road performance for such a huge and heavy beast. The TFL guys have highlighted the downsides: price, size in a parking lot, air suspension reliability offroad, weird tech glitches (dying on the road after power cycling), etc. New tech always has bugs, and this thing is packed with new tech.
@@garrettmckinney Absolutely. The TFL problems were with the truck tech. Hopefully, GM figures things out and issues TSBs and replacements where necessary. That is always the risk with a first gen of any tech or vehicle.
I appreciate your excellent review. As a fervent fan, I am thrilled that you are providing a Canadian perspective on this vehicle, which I have been following since its conceptual release. It’s always refreshing to hear a Canadian viewpoint, and you are one of the first I’ve seen to do so. Thank you for your unique contribution.
I like it! The color scheme, three wipers, t-tops etc. But if I had a extra 105k to blow I’m not sure it would be on the hummer. Range Rover, f-type or even maybe a 7 series. I just don’t think it would be the hummer suv. If you give me a 105k I’ll let you know what I buy. Maybe a tricked out rubicon wrangler!
I have an edition 1 reserved. So I may have to watch this a few times. I pre ordered the offroad addition. I have driven H1,2,&3. My favorite and I believe most capable was the H1. To me lunar is lamo. I hope a lot of the problems have been worked out with the pickup. I was notified final order will be this fall. I have a while to make up my mind.
I like the concept of this rig but, I’m not that impressed with the execution. Like some other manufacturers they just glue a tablet onto the dash and call it good. Zero attempts at flowing the rectangles into the dash or designing the dash around the screens. The A pillars are massive and create huge blind spots. Who knows if the rear door can actually hold the spare tire for any length of time let alone a 37” or larger tire without destroying the rear door or hinges. It took Jeep over 70 years to reduce body, door/ hinge issues with a stock tire! The body style isn’t reminiscent of the H2 or H3 it looks more like the last gen of FJ Cruiser. Did I mention over $100,000 for a look at me ride! Lastly, what was that chime going off while playing in the mud? Stay safe and healthy! Ron Ps; I didn’t hear the TFL boys or anyone else asking the GM engineers if any of the software issues were fixed in the SUV models that popped up in the p/u versions?
lol, after all the humiliation from TFL they decided to keep this review under much tighter control. lol - Yes, it did well today. - But they don't get a pass. We all saw that thing struggle off road. It was a joke. - It's weight is a massive issue when off-roading. I'd also be curious to see how it does in breaking. Wonder how many of them they had in reserve so they could swap out when suspension wouldn't rise or it just decided to die like it did for TFL. - As I said before, if one was given to me for free, I'd sell it. - I'll keep my Rebel thanks.
It is an absolute incredibly capable vehicle, even though it's twice as heavy as my halfton truck. But the point of having a car like this is, you're not looking at its long-term reliability, people who buy something like this, they have millions of dollars. They don't care about money. They don't care if the vehicle is reliable. This electric truck is essentially, an extremely expensive toy. There is no practical usage for a hummer. Like this, it takes decades to charge that battery depending on where you live. You may not even be able to get level 2 charging. It all depends on what the power grid is willing to give up. If you don't like it, it's clearly not for you. They're not trying to sell this vehicle to every single normal citizen, they're just selling it to people who got the cash to spare it. And if you are in that boat or yacht😂, where you are doing very well in life and you can throw two hundred grand into the wind and then dumped tens of thousands of dollars of maintenance into it, this is the truck for you.
I think its hilarious that they are building these things and will sell next to none of them, never like the hummer personally. I will wait for the 25k Tesla. I do like GMC tho
At the price are you concerned. Simple is more reliable than complicated. People who want reliable buy basic or mostly basic cars/trucks not top of the line.
Watts To Freedom equals WTF, which equals (you guys know what) and rightfully so. And as far as the green matte finish; it looks great, but matte finishes can be challenging to maintain.
My previous employer had a hummer, and the seats felt uncomfortable, and back seats were cramped. The interior of a square body Chev is spacious and plush compared to a Hummer. Every time I see a hummer on the road, the driver is always driving on the lane divider because either they can't drive or they think they are entitled to drive in two lanes at once. Even the Ram TRX and Ford Raptor have mechanical problems and glitches. I saw some "Kibbetech" videos where he was building parts to fix problems with the stock suspensions that are prone to breaking or binding on the TRX and Raptor if the owners take them offroad. I saw a review of the electric Hummer on "Engineering Explained" and I understand that GM put a lot of technology into this truck, perhaps for testing or to make GM look like a company that can produce high tech vehicles. In a "TFL" video about the best selling trucks of 2022 it seems like GM is focused on their Denali and heavy duty trucks. Now with the Hummer EV it seems like their priorities are to build vehicles for wealthy people in an attempt to turn GM into a luxury brand like Mercedes, Land Rover, etc. As for the color of the Hummer, it looks boring to me. I find all of the GM colors boring because I used to read "MiniTruckin" magazine and am used to paint jobs with metal flake that really grab your attention.
Anytime anything goes wrong with this vehicle, or any electric vehicle, you have to take it to a dealer to fix with their "proprietary" software that only they have. Not only will it have more issues, not last, cost too much, track everything you do, everywhere you go, need a battery replacement costing ten of thousands of dollars, your a slave to whatever a dealer decides they want to charge you and you can't fix anything yourself. I can't wait for this electric fad to end and new technologies to emerge.
Anytime ANYTHING GOES WRONG WITH ANY EV, YOU HAVE TO BRING IT TO THAT CARS DEALERSHIP NETWORK. THIS DOESN'T SOLELY APPLY TO A GM PRODUCT. FORD, TESLA, KIA, MERCEDES. THEY ALL GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THINGS FIXED. NO OUTSIDERS WILL EVER BE ABLE TO FIX THEIR PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE. ITS A SIGN OF THE TIMES.
Well, it’s really nice that they take it off routing to something that they built with a little bit of mud a little bit of nothing I can take my Chevy Cruz through that give me a break and if people are watching escaping idiot I don’t need to love you more with that I would ever do with that. You puncture a battery going off Roading or anything like that you’re screwed and anybody who is the GM should be a good idea is the biggest area and should be fired.
Chevy took Hummer made it an EV... I prayed for an Avalanche revive, and Chevy made the new EV pickup an EV Avalanche. This hurts and I'll never buy an EV as long as fuel pumps still work!

What is the range after 4x4ing?? About 150 miles?
Electric vehicles get more range local driving, shorter range on the highway.
Damn that beast is quick. Makes my Rubicon diesel look cheap.
Am I the only one thinking the rear tailgate is hinged on the wrong side? it should be open on the curb side, not the traffic side
The lunar references are because GM made the electric lunar rovers used in the Apollo missions.
I would hate to see what a 9,000 lb truck would do to my driveway. My Odyssey has already made tire divots.
General Motors made the first rover that drove on the moon. That’s why it’s moon/lunar themed. An homage to their past.
I'd forgotten that - good catch!
Well it certainly is attractive!
The only bad thing in this test is the car should be yellow, other than that..... DAMN is heavy!!!!
I think they built another buggy Hummer. Of course, just like H2 and H3 hummers, you'll see the very rare one still going strong in 5-10 years.
Only thing i didn't see was a river crossing

Recovery hooks, not tow hooks.
I wonder if GM is going to extract the hummer with the tow hooks by helicopter when it breaks down, like the army did with the Original HMVEE...
Neither Ford, Tesla, nor Stellantis even has a truck in production to compete with it, let alone “be towed away”. GM is laughing. 😂
