I just spent 15 minutes watching two grown men blow into straws. This is truly the pinnacle of human evolution.

This reminds me of the Polish Story I used to listen to when I was a kid.
It was Colargol, a small bear who always wanted to sing. He traveled to a kingdom of bird, where he met an eagle, who gave him a flute (small and slender like a straw) to sing. He blew it but he swallowed it by accident, it got stuck in his throat but he was able to sing beautifully afterwards.
It's a cute little story before bedtime since it involves signing his famous song at the end.

Moral of the story: play the flute and -accidentally- swallow it to sing better

I've been using straws for about 3 weeks now. It really helps you with EVERYTHING you're trying to do, including strengthening your diaphragmatic support, increasing vocal power, controlling your airflow, and transitioning through registers . Just amazing.

I recognize that OVOO wants to save some plastic with their design. 100$ is too much for this tool. I saw the price, then went to amazon and bought 1000 plastic straws for 10$. If you want people to seriously consider this, I would make a cheaper option. 30$ is my price limit for something like this. I don't need jewelery or gold or silver. 30$, stainless steel

I was like 5 or so videos in & just subscribed! I love your videos Sam! I see your passion through your videos & so many people who are already singers or who aren't singers yet but want to be will help them in so many ways. I love to sing but my voice sucks but when I do sing, I sing with my heart which I believe is the most important thing when singing is having heart & passion! When I sing I feel so many beautiful emotions. It's a passion of mine I've had since I was a little girl & now I'm 40. I don't want to be famous. I used to sing in my Church Worship team but don't anymore because I had a Son with Autism & after that didn't have any time to make it to church practices, my life just got so busy & I put music on hold to be the Mother I am today because my kids are my life although I never stopped singing completely...I still sang here & there with solo performances at church or just at home in my shower or going to Karaoke...I never fully let it go completely. U know, I love singing to God with my whole heart & just singing in general. I'm so glad I came across your videos because you're an inspiration to me even though I've only watch like 5 videos. Thank u for the amazing tips I've seen so far, greatly appreciated Sam. I also have a couple of video suggestions: Reviewing random youtubers covers songs, suprising subscribers with vocal lessons & video the process to post on your channel that would be awesome to watch. Thank u again Sam for your passion that u share with others...I don't see your criticism as a bad thing, I see it as being helpful to us who are learning so Thank u so much. Best Wishes this 2020 New Year on your channel & in your life! I look forward to watching more videos as well as watching more that you've posted in the past!

Don't shame people who require straws... as disabled people. Required to live. Just saying.
    ua-cam.com/video/4IBH0pcKzlY/v-deo.html
Also going to point out that the majority of plastic waste comes from plastic fishing nets, not drinking straws.
This doesn't mean that banning drinking straws is "bad" per se, but I think someone's right to live is more important in this case, especially if they are disposing of them correctly in the first place. And also if you want to save the environment, etc, to not focus on single issues. Plastic==bad, also tends to ignore glass=heavy==more carbon emissions. It's not a single thing. You have to look at the whole picture.
Meanwhile, you can think hard about where you get your fish, how it's caught and trying to hold fishermen responsible for lost nets, if you're really concerned about that sea turtle. And think about how you source and get your food, which also contributes to pollution in a larger fashion, which includes more than just you, but the global economy.

      @roygalaasen 4 роки тому +4

I think he showed a bag of plastic straws in the beginning of the video. Also he said that wider straws are better for practise through water, so I think any straws will do. The reason the straw he is using is good is that it doesn’t pollute as it can be used over and over again. I never heard about this practise technique so I don’t know what the width has for impact. Obviously gives more resistance the smaller the hole is but it seems resistance is not the point. That you are doing it wrong if you push too hard.

    > $100 for a small metal tube, right.... The idea that this thing is saving the planet vs using a tiny plastic cocktail straw is absurd. I guarantee this guy's company has more negative impact through manufacturing etc and is much less efficient than just keeping hold of a regular straw. The problem with plastic straws is their mass consumption and disposal, not the fact that they exist at all. As long as you don't overuse them they are a perfectly fine product no worse than anything else plastic. You can reuse a plastic straw for vocal exercises, no need for this product. The only reason to buy this is because it's fancy, nothing else.

no idea how i stumbled apon you're channel but now im hooked. Could you react to some kpop groups? Kpop can be different from a lot of other music because even though everyone in the group sings they don't have to be "good" members can be choosen for their apperence, dancing, raping or charm. A good place to start is probably BTS or my personal favorite Dreamcatcher.

great video guys and brilliantly explained..however..can you tell me when you go through the straw to the higher range.do you encourage cord closure or is the throat constantly open.i find that if i close my cords i get a smooth transition from bottom to top and back again.if i do it with an open throat i get breaks.
all the best from england guys.

Hi! Could you please react to rosalía's performance of me quedo contigo in the goya awards? She's a Spanish singer whos famous for mixing flamenco with other music genres and this time she covered that song with a choir. The title of the song means I'd choose you (if I had the chance), the lyrics are about loving someone so much youd choose your lover over wealth, glory, etc. Thanks!

I feel like I have asked for this reaction a bunch of times so sorry if it is getting redundant! But please listen to Diana Ankudinova sing Wicked Games. She is like 14 or 15 years old and has an exceptionally strange voice. I would love to get some insight into how she is creating her sound!
