The title of the video is a little humorous. Title of the video suggests a follow up video could happen. Shane says Final Chapter but.. What sometimes follows a final chapter in a book is the epilogue. So, Shane could yet make an epilogue video. Or, maybe he'll make some Google Labs features videos instead.

Your comment about the inspector having a good or bad day is spot on. It it very common in Australia that whenever you ring a customer service group if you get a bad vibe you hang an try again. Pretty much always works, you eventually get someone who takes the time to fully understand your problem and can fix it. I would really love the opportunity to actually speak to someone high up in these customer service department and ask them what is the advantage to the company for being useless?

Great job, Shane! Hopefully I don't have the same challenge with my Pixel Fold (yes, I too replaced my SD1). I had a similar ordeal with Amazon after "buying" a $3K camera through a third-party reseller. Suffice it to say that I won't be using a third-party reseller soon. It took 6 weeks to get my money back after Amazon initially refused to refund me. It's amazing what the ordinary consumer has to go through when things go wrong.

I know sudden unexpected failure can happen to any device (I know someone whose iPhone 13 screen just suddenly stopped displaying anything no matter what they tried), but seeing your experience makes me wonder how good of an idea it really is to use folds right now.
I love my Z Fold 4. The under-display camera is basically the best thing ever, I never quite got over cutouts becoming the norm. The big enough display for light multitasking is a huge deal for a college student. Those are two killer features no other phone has, and I can more easily pass up the great cameras and anti-glare screen and lower price that the S24 Ultra has than I could give up the UDC and big screen.
But I'm a little afraid of something like this just happening, out of the blue, and suddenly what I'm left with is a wonky front screen, thick form factor, mediocre cameras, and neither of the features that make those worth it - and my Tab S8 Ultra is better for multitasking anyway so long as I actually have it with me, plus its cutout is pretty easy to ignore on a screen that huge.
I'm back and forth on whether I want to get the Fold 6. Not even on the level of "will this feature set be worth the higher cost", but "it's such a hassle to get things repaired and buying a fold is opening myself up to a higher chance I'll need to do that".
My Fold 4 is still going strong, guess the deciding factor will be if it still is in 6 months when black friday deals roll around.

And maybe your. still happy to do that , but also from another point of view , if that was your only phone device , with all the mucking around from google , you would have been without a phone for 3 weeks !
Regardless of the eventual final outcome , that is not acceptable in my view ....... Google needs to lift their game with warranty .

I've been watching your cracked Pixel Fold saga since I have a Pixel Fold, which started to glitch the around the time you posted your first series of this. My flash/flashlight started to randomly fail on me (wouldn't turn on at all or just flicker for a split second). I had opted for the insurance when I bought the Fold because of the cost of the phone and wasn't going to rely simply on warranty although, in the past, the warranty alone has served me very well and I've always had great service with Google Customer Support; I've had 3 pixels replaced in the past. When I called this time, they said my warranty will cover the flash issue, and I got my replacement a few days ago. Oddly, my old phone stopped glitching... hope there's no issue when they get the old phone to verify the issue.

It took Apple 2 months to replace my 13 mini. I made the mistake of starting the express replacement on the device because I did not want to drive to their store and be there forever. Two months go by with me calling at least twice a week to find out updates. Kept getting told it should be there soon. Long story short they ended up calling me and told me to pick a device and they would just ship anything to me. So I went from a base storage 13 mini to a 14 pro 512gb because of the hassle.

I have to say I would lean towards you making multiple videos about them refusing to fix it was the most likely reason they even did. As someone that’s visually disabled I like the idea of a folding phone but yet the downsides of them still outweigh the benefits. That being said most normal consumers can’t go without a phone for 3 weeks especially when that vast majority rely on one device. Hopefully Google can set some industry standards when it comes to folding devices and stand by them.

I find that opening smoothly and slowly eases worries, and also room temps. I cracked a Samsung after 7mo of daily abuse flipping open & closed for fun, and I also believe excessive heat from direct sunlight not good either.

With how many people ive seen google and samsung do dirty, i would bet my life on it that they saw the video and that's why they did it. Theres nothing anyone can say to make me think otherwise.

My pixel 8 pro had terrible call quality from the time out of the box...i had to jump through so many hoops to get a warranty replacement to top it of they only send refurbished phone for a warranty replacement!! meanwhile im still paying installments on a phone I dont have anymore...not only are their trade in prices terrible their warranty practice is terrible as well

@@roymonrreal9608 I bought the first Pixel that came out in 2016, lucky I bought it from a shop, when it developed a fault after a month of ownership I returned it to the shop which sent it for repair. When I got the phone back it was a refurbished phone, not my original phone. Now using iPhone as my main phone and Pixel 6A as secondary phone. I like Pixel software, my Pixel 6A is a pain to use because the finger print sensor is useless for me so I have to use the Pin to unlock the phone.

It's most likely you were an option 2. That's ok though. Google, Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, etc have a huge number of people that troll silently. It's ok to get resolved that way. The ideal would be that additional follow-up is done to find out why this happened in the first place. This is harder to achieve since that company is a stand alone third party. But... Baby steps

The only foldable phone worthy to buy and not lack a lot of basic features is oneplus open. Im thinking if they are going to make the 2nd generation this year. Finally its abt time.

They good but they decided to skip a year(!) and not make a new model this year. Their current model may have better sales later. Also The OnePlus is also not as wide as it's competition in China. Next Pixel Fold will most probably be the only competition as Samsung will offer basically the same thing

When my fold 3 cracked down the middle, samsung fixed it right away. I got lucky, I guess, lol. But shame on these companies making people go through this.
