You forgot to draw an event card several times when you started your villain phase without adding a new tile...
Yea it was my first time playing so I forgot to do a few things. hehe
@@abc-ug5ym you mean like a video game console?
In seriousness, i replace most tiles with dice and play it more similar to traditional 4th ed d&d.
I've wanted this game for years. My kids are old enough to play now, so we may just have to pick this one up. I love the horror themes, and it's done so well.
That would be great to introduce them to D&D with these board games. The Dungeon Board game is great also.
Even though it's a few years old, thanks for doing the playthrough. I just bought this game from a friend and I'm looking forward to playing.
Nice find. You will have a good time.
Just bought this and was curious how a single player could play a board game. Thank you for this video. I can't wait to control a party and see how I fare.
Just a small tip before you start (because my wife and I needed at least 3 adventures to figure that one out): Monsters only activate during the villan phase of the hero that has drawn that monster card. Not in every villain phase of each hero. Example: Hero 1 explores and draws a tile. They then draw a monster card, let's say a goblin. The goblin can only act during the villain phase of hero 1. Hero 2 does their thing and draws an encounter card, which invovles drawing another monster card, let's say an orc. The orc can only act during the villain phase of Hero 2, and so on.
Now, boss monsters on the other hand, they do actually activate in every villain phase. That's why we implemented a small house rule: Once the baddie is on the board, we don't draw encounter cards anymore. The game is hard enough as it is.
Anyway, have fun! :)
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks!
If anyone is interested in this, there's a fan made "Revised" rules sheet on BGG that combines the Hero and Exploration phases, which greatly improves the game(without making it overly easy).
This is really easy to play, older children would be able to join in no problem. Might have to buy this.
It's a fun game.
Very cool. I didn't know D&D board games were this advanced now. The ones I played in the past were too simple for long term interest, but this looks like it has good replayability.
I didn't either until a few months back. lol

At 1.15 you drew a second rat swarm. It should have been discarded see rules page 6 " If you draw a Monster Card that matches a Monster Card already in play in front of you, discard that Monster Card and draw again. If another player has a matching Monster Card, however, that’s okay."
And towards the end you drew a second zombie with one in play. The second zombie should have been discarded and a different monster drawn.
2 words....."House Rules".
Cheers for this - just started to look at the game today after having it for a few years so your video was perfect thanks!
Glad I could help!
Just got this for Christmas I’m exited to play!
Thanks for the video! Really helped get a grasp of how to play. I like that you played and video ed your first try as I think n it made you talk through as you tried to figure it out. Great job and thanks again!
Awesome, thank you!
The game's design is really awesome. Can't wait to play it.
I think the best place to find them is on Amazon & Ebay.
I had the first 3 games. Funny thing is that my sister kept them and played them with her kids.
When are you going to do solo Adventures of the other board games in this series? I'd like to see that
At the end you forgot to draw an encounter card (as you didn't explore) - rules page 7 ". If you didn’t place a Dungeon Tile in your Exploration Phase, or if you placed a Dungeon Tile with a black triangle, draw and play an Encounter Card."
Is that the case even if its the last tile?
@@timjones990 Yes, I believe so.
Going to start a campaign tonight. Hopefully I can escape safely
I really like these videos. It's refreshing to see someone review these wotc games without acting like a know-it-all. Great job man.
Thanks PM. I screwed up a ton but had fun doing it. lol
I really like your videos! Thank you for the effort you put in
Thanks Jacques
Thanks for this video, it shed some light on a couple of bits (providing you did it right lol), enjoy.
Glad it helped
Answering your question - No, you can't move after revealing a tile (like the stair case).
I think you should have put the stair tile as the 11th tile. The instructions say to place it "after the 10th tile". It sounds like it could mean "directly after" or "randomly after", but if you look at the instructions for other adventures, it goes into more details when it wants it random. This could have been much easier directly after lol. Really enjoyed this. Can't wait for Gloomhaven!
I noticed that also. I guess I just like to make things difficult for myself. You know how I do things. LOL
You should have draw an encounter card every time you don't explore, it says right on the sequence card where you read steps... but still gg, thanks for video I enjoyed watchig
I thought you were so dead several different times. Way to pull out the clutch win.
Yea, I thought I was also Sparkey. lol

This was fun to watch, I played this for the first time myself today.
You missed a few rules along the way, like you dont escape till you start a fresh hero phase on the stairs ;)
But then again, i, in my playthrough, totally missed the part where you need to draw a treasure card throughout the entire game, lol.
(was playing with 3 kids)
Thanks for watching Chris.
I've been looking around for DND games to play on my own, since none of my friends know about dungeons and dragons.. even those few who have seen lord of the rings and are big fans of.. aren't interested in dungeons and dragons
I got that game a while back it is fun. I used this game to introduce my kids to D&D.
I am having a good time with it so far.

Looks like you have some video I may watch... Subscribed to your channel
I think you missed the death shriek ability on the Wraith when you killed it (around 32 min). Nasty monster.
True, but he also didnt take the point for healing strike, so they balanced out.
Great content, looking forward to getting Ravenloft and soloing it myself! Is this the best starting point for D&D adventures or do you recommend another one?
For movement, when you hit an unexplored edge, that is it for movement.
Yea, thank you Fred.
These DnD board games have two things that I really like about them. First the miniatures are excellent and I know some people have bought the game just for them. Secondly you'd think a board game based off DnD would be a very complex game to learn but it really isn't.
You hit the nail on the head Tim.
Thanks for a great play-through. Helped my son and I understand the rulebook better. Keep up the good work! I did notice that you were drawing monsters when a white arrow was on the tile. I thought you only spawn a monster when a black arrow is on the tile?
No black is both monster and encounter
@@Khalanos Black is an encounter, bone pile is monster. But every tile spawns at least one monster so that's essentially right.
You left out the Dungeon of the Mad Mage board game.
I bought my DnD board games at Walmart for around fifty bucks.
Should the sun dial have been moved when you started the gameon a white arrowed tile? I don't think so.
I yelled at the screen when he did that.
Probably. I am new to it so I goofed in several spots.
What did you yell? LOL
I would think moving into the final tile is what is needed to win and not adjacent to that tiles edge.
Answering your question: you can not reveal a tile and then finish your move. Movement is done in the hero phase. Placing the tile is done in the exploration phase.
Thanks.
I think you were supposed to lose actually, towards the end there was a treasure card (+2 movement) that you discarded without removing a hit point (you discarded the card but the effect lasted until the end of your next turn and you forgot to remove the hit point) 🤣
Darn you King Slime!!!!!! Stop running away from me.
I think he forgot to heal that last time he hit though... he took 1 damage for discarding a treasure but didn't gain life.
The rolls and the white tiles. You're just not having a good day.
It was a bad day for RNG for sure.
I enjoyed that
Thanks.
My god man! Roll that dice! Geezus! Just throw it out there so it bounces around a little, it might help with the weak attack rolls.
LOL
1) Do you get more than one creature when playing with more than one player?
2) How does XP work when you have more than one player.... for example, does the player that kills the creature get the creatures XP or is it a pool of XP that the whole party dips into?
Hey again Karl!
1. In the Exploration phase of each players turn, if you draw a tile a monster is drawn from the deck and put onto the piles of bone on that tile that was just drawn. Special encounter cards can also make you draw more monster cards also. lol
2. XP is party based so it is all put into one pool for everyone to use.
I see, so if you have 5 players and if 3 players on on different edge of a tile you would have to draw a tile for each instance .... I got it. I guess you could use that strategy to gain XP faster and a burn through the top tiles to get to the chance of getting the winning tile.
I guess the drawback would be burning through the white tiles faster and being closer when he starts chasing you.
Interesting.
This is new for you but I like it.
It has been fun so far Captain.

Lol thought this was going to be Neverwinter playthrough :p
Hey Dave, I'm curious, do you ever play 4th anymore? Don't get me wrong 5th is great, but there are a lot of things I really like about 4th after reading the ruleset, but I haven't run a game of it yet personally. Do you have a comparative video of the two editions? if not you should make one if you ever get the time.
No, but I would love to play again in the future. I think If I do play 4e again, it will be the latter version of the game with D&D Essentials.
I do have a 4e vs. 5e video planned and have had it on the list for several years now. Maybe I may do something here shortly because of the board games.
I think that would be a great video to make ad ramble on about.

On that fifth tile shouldn't you have not gotten a monster card because the skull isn't on it? Trying to learn as you do because I want to order one of these and using you to learn.
I don't remember reading anything about the skulls. I was wondering what they were for. Can you get me a page number and location in the rulebook for the skull info? I looked again and don't see anything.
Maybe it is a special adventure rule I have not come across yet?

Digital Dungeon Master I don't have one of the games yet. I had thought I heard you say that when you were going thru the rules. To me it would make sense though to get some free tiles.
I don't remember reading about that. I know all tiles get a monster card unless it says differently on one of the special tiles and if you get a while triangle you do not get an encounter card. the black triangle gives you one.
If the adventure module text does not say it explicitly otherwise, you always place a monster. Use the bone piles to place it. If a tile has no bone pile you can place the monster on a space (of that tile) you want.
The skulls are of no special use and are just meant to mark some tiles for a different reason. There's an adventure later on that uses only tiles marked with skulls.
When you levelled up you should have added some hit points as per the rulebook page 14 "Flip your 1st- level Hero Card over to become 2nd level. Leveling up to 2nd level increases your Hero’s Hit Points."
When you leveled up why didn't everything return as with a long rest? If that is not correct than what trigger it? If you never go to full str than why does it give you one extra heal serge?
There are no long rest in the board games. When you level up your stats go up and you gain a new daily power of your choice. It does not say anything about everything returning or restting.
There may be resting in the later board games but in Ravenloft there is none.

It looks fun however, I looked at them at my local gaming store and dang these games cost a pretty penny!
Yea, they are fun. I traded a bunch of AD&D 1 and 2e hardbacks in for store credit to get them.
You should look up the price for Gloomhaven lol
WOW, expensive
What are the 💀 icons for?
It's been so long since I have played. lol
@@TableTopGaming no worries I have since found out. It would be cool if they had a rulebook that was easier to follow.
@@siryphengleede6753 I hear ya.
I know this is an old video but man the amount of event cards skipped is insane :-) at 40 mins in theres about 5 been skipped, probably would have already killed you :-) great game though, me and my son love the D&D board games.
Thanks for watching Snazgob
@@TableTopGaming no worries ;-) we all make mistakes, I'm not sure why people take offence to it haha.
@@Snazgob I made quite a few playing the board games. lol
You forget some details, but it does not matter that much
It doesn't matter. It was my first time playing.
OH NOZ!!!! I HAV ZERO LIFES!!!
lol
Didnt add your 2HP when you leveled
Doh!
yeah i recommend playing thru a few times before doing a video. don’t see much point in it when you’re unfamiliar. slow and dull play through.
Learning on the go ;)
