Great stuff and the mop is exactly the right colour for happy breeding - way easier than using a peat substrate like most of the old guys do. The moss is great spawning material too. When I had the shop I loved getting the killifish in as there were so many different variations of them with some being incredibly beautiful - the steel blues were probably our most popular ones. Nice work showing people how to make a spawning mop too. Groovy.
i use marbles for the sunken types and cork for the flouting types when making mops for breading. Then i run the flouters under hot water to get them water logged as they sit better in the tank faster. Although there breeding mops i have found most fish seem to like playing within them, so peeps give it a bash and see if your fish like them. Great video sir, Thank you.
Another awesome vid mate👍🏻 Have you ever kept the Blue Gularis killifish ? And are they available over here as ive never seen any for sale. And yes please do a vid on keeping daphnia etc as this is a great way to feed your fish .
I've only ever got 1 pair of the blue gularis and a spare male here in uk off ebay but both the males managed to jump out my tank they were beautiful I've not seen any since
Just got a pair of Australe abt 2 weeks ago... Been pulling 3-8 eggs a day. Having issues with fungus tho. If i use methylene blue for the eggs, can the fry hatch in meth. blue? Cn u recommend a step by step procedure on hatching them. Thanx Mark... Really appreciate the content u make for ur viewers... Leaps and bounds ahead of other youtubers!
Hi, I got a question, hope a reply Do you always keep the cover on the container? And do you need to add water or sth else in the container in 20 more days? Thank you
The jellyfish is on hold for a bit as I have to go away for a bit and they need special care and i need to be here. Cant wait to get them in myself!! 👍😀
great vid mark love the breeding series .. any chance your going to do rams? i just got 3 of them a male and 2 females .. love rams i think they have been courting already plus they was in the tank at the store too .. i think they mount brooders aren't they and do they need like a cave or something?
cool ill look forward to it:) im going to post a pic of them on your site also .. been having mouse issues lately ..think i got that problem fixed so now i can post them:)
Mark, the waterfall in your intro - looks like the Latak waterfall in Lambir National Park. Am I right ? I did plenty of fish collecting just outside the park. Great area.
The mop is the right colour if you pick up the eggs : they will be easy to find. But if you see them, don't forget the fish will see them too and may eat some of them. I prefer yellowish mops and I change the mop every 10 days. Also, there is special wool with thin thread that looks like plants in your aquarium.
Awesome video, love your videos they have a lot of information. I'm going to be getting a fish tank soon, I can only get a 10 gallon because apartment rules. I'm still not sure what kind of fish to get because it's such a small sized tank.
MARK'S AQUATICS just looked at my lease and found out that I can have a 20 gallon tank. I'm thinking about getting some Green Kubotai Rasbora, Phoenix Rasbora, and maybe some least killifish.
My female actually started to develop the same tail shape and colouration as the male.. looked like a male female hybrid... and I have them in my community tank with tetra and molly
Making those mop things seems really simple and I definitely think I want to try it, since I have a breeding pair of Notho Killi's but I've never had anywhere to collect the eggs whenever I've spotted them breeding. It might not work out since I don't have separate tanks for breeding etc but worth trying I feel like. Is the wool good to use straight away or should it be treated beforehand in some way to make sure it's tank safe, or should it be good to go? I know this is a fairly old video now but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask!
The behavior of your individual fish is far more important than generalizations about the species. My local pet store sold me a "pair" and male killed female. 1 to 1 ratio was very wrong! Some sources say to keep males and females apart either in another tank or a separator in between breeding times. Numerous klillifish are also reported to be too aggressive for a community tank. You might breed after water change and ph balancing and live feeding if you are going to keep offspring. You might bring them together to breed periodically just to keep them happy even if yout don't have time to separate eggs.. Perhaps females have a less aggressive temperament and could live in a female mixed species community while males could live in a partitioned tank? Tanks tend to multiply.
Thankyou very much for your time, energy and commitment to the hobby. May God always bless you‼️☮️🤙

As always an excellent video. A 28 min video passes with the blink of an eye, and that means it’s very interesting. Thanks Mark.
Great info I love killies, they're beautiful this is something to consider when I have some more time!

Sir you are awesome!
Hi Mark, great video. Will there be a part 2, or did something go wrong with the eggs?
Hi. No nothing went wrong. I still have them in storage.
great vid mark love the breeding series .. any chance your going to do rams? i just got 3 of them a male and 2 females .. love rams i think they have been courting already plus they was in the tank at the store too .. i think they mount brooders aren't they and do they need like a cave or something?
I like rams. could be one for a future breeding video.👍😀

It could be. In not 100% tho.
Another great video!

Good luck.👍😀
Love your videos, are you going to make anymore?
Awesome video, love your videos they have a lot of information. I'm going to be getting a fish tank soon, I can only get a 10 gallon because apartment rules. I'm still not sure what kind of fish to get because it's such a small sized tank.
Killifish would be perfect, You can buy the eggs on ebay and then hatch them out in your tank and watch them grow.👍😀
MARK'S AQUATICS just looked at my lease and found out that I can have a 20 gallon tank. I'm thinking about getting some Green Kubotai Rasbora, Phoenix Rasbora, and maybe some least killifish.
Hey Mark you should get like a little mirror and place it behind the aquarium.
Hi Mark, great video! Is there actually a part 2, hatch/grow up video?
No I haven't gotten to it yet. Still got the eggs tho.😀👍
Oh Ok, I was only curious about the hatch and raise, have nice evening!
Great video Mark as always. I was just wondering what their life span is. Thanks
Hi. They can live for two years if looked after properly 😀👍
@@MARKSAQUATICS great thanks.
How long do u leave the mop in
Nice video. How long will killifish live?
I really depends on the spices. Blue steel killifish can live up to two years. 🎅👍
My female actually started to develop the same tail shape and colouration as the male.. looked like a male female hybrid... and I have them in my community tank with tetra and molly
Hi mark.. What's happen if we just let the eggs in the water?
Will it turns into fry?
Mark Can u make breeding mops....... great for fry to hide....
Mark where did you get the killifish? These are so beautiful.
I got them from my local maidenhead aquatics shop.👍😀

Make sure you boil the mops first ok. This will remove any dye that is left.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Thanks for the reply so fast!
Nothos need to spawn in peat moss I've never personally had any spawn in mops
What's the best ratio of male to female when it comes to breeding killifish?
Yeah I'm a bit anxious about leaving the mosquito larvae too long or them hatching in my home if my fish miss a few?
😂😂😂
How do you keep the moist peat from growing fungus?
Sorry I didn't mention that! I pour boiling hot water over the peat first then squeeze it out .👍😀
Done two mark
Did you ever do a follow up video on this with killi babies etc?
No. I've still got the eggs. I must do a follow up vid. 😀👍
@@MARKSAQUATICS Sounds awesome to me!
If you breed them in a separate tank can't you just leave the eggs in water with this species and take parent fish and the fry will hatch?
👍
How long can you keep the eggs in the peat for ?
For months as long as they are kept damp in boiled peat.
Can Acrylic yarn be used instead of wool?
Hi . Yes that's fine 😊👍
22 degrees hot or cold????
22 degrees Celsius warm. 😀👍
These seem similar to aphyosemion Australe killifish I have currently
what is the buffering substrate ??
Fluval stratum. Thanks for watching.👍😀
Hey Mark, did you make a part 2 for the hatching of the eggs?
How did you get on with the white clouds?
Video coming soon.👍😀
You did not mention they make good certain tie back tassels, floor mops, whitewash brush, toilet brush ,tickling stick exc
😂😂😂😂
Why my golden killifish mal killed both the feamal i add one more but the mal killifish still deatroy the fen untill the feamal die
