Great job. Only thing I could add is putting the heat shield bowl on when rebuilding. They’re required now for “Full Compliance” and are stupid expensive for a simple metal bowl. Like $100 online. It’s the kind of thing a surveyor would ding you on when you sell your boat. Obviously somewhere in the world at least one time a plastic bowl was exposed to flame or heat and melted allowing diesel to flow everywhere. Now it’s a required thing for ABYC compliance. As they say, regulations are written in blood, so I don’t argue.

Great point and you are 100% correct. This is a great add on for anyone who doesn't have one already

Hmmm...I recall several years ago on that boat cruising back from the Vinyard your diesels bogged down pretty bad and you had to clean the Racors on the fly. I guess that would be a Sully Mistake Factory! So kids, listen to Sully, he knows!

When doing this job in place in order to not introduce new potential leakage in the fuel pipes it’s a bit tricky to keep the lower rubber seal in place, it falls down! Could a small amoun of grease hold the seal in right place when putting the bowl in place?

I didn’t see you clean the filter. Or did you replace it.

Filter was replaced with new one as the other was well used. Filters are like Impellers if your going to open and check them might as well replace them while your there. Takes the same amount of time.

Thanks Sully you think that was nasty you should see mine. Are you good with reusing the gaskets and o rings?

In a pinch I would re-use a gasket, but given the work it takes to get this far, I prefer to spend a few extra duckets and just have all new. Gives me one less failure point in the future in theory

The good news is that the top o ring that comes with the new element is the same size as the plastic bubble o ring. We both know which one is easier to get at. All done , thanks again. :)@@navtronicsmarinegroup
