I inherited a love for Citizen from the greatest man i’ve ever met, my grandfather, whom I lost this year. He appreciated value for quality, and i’ve just been on a stream of grabbing all of them that I like. It has to be stated that the value and the quality control of Citizen isn’t just outpacing Seiko in the similar price bracket; MANY of the popular watch channels on youtube are noting it.
Because of this video I ended up buying this watch in the reverse panda variant. I absolutely love it. I totally get and appreciate the 1960's space program vibes. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention Dave!
@@JusttheWatch Haha! You'll definitely see it. Sooner than later :) Have a couple of collaboration videos/series with big watch youtubers and you'll see a big spike and hopefully that should propel the channel forward.
You always bring the good stuff! I'm a huge fan of citizen eco drive, always have been and always will be it seems. Their quality normally greatly outweighs their value. Greetings from Jamaica as always 😁👍🏾 keep it up Dave
I can’t believe I missed this video… I love this watch… I’m a big fan of Citizen and I have a total of six in my ‘far too large’ collection. The only reason They haven’t overtaken Seiko in my collection Is there lack of mechanical Watch choices. Big fan of Eco drive though. Going in search of this one now! Thanks for the great video!
This is a fantastic looking watch. I keep looking at citizen but really struggle to find one that I like at the right price. Thanks for showing us this one.
Thanks for the video. I currently have 4 JDM watches, including a Casio Oceanus T2600 and a Citizen Attesa AT8181. Keep up the great work in identifying these discounted JDM models. I suspect one of the reasons that the Japanese watch makers have so many JDM models is that it provides a boost to Japanese watch retailers.
wow!!! great looking watch. Citizen is really holding back on us here in the U.S. I had the Citizen "The Citizen," and man, that was a lot of watch for the price. Titanium case and bracelet (Zaratsu polished), Washi paper dial, +- 5 minutes a year, etc. Unfortunately, that watch was not available in the U.S. I had to find a Japanese seller on ebay. BTW Gnomon now has the white dial model of "The Citizen."
They may be. I got an excellent panda style Orient Chronograph that wasn't available in Europe. I saw one for sale in Japan and one in Turkey, which the seller imported from Japan. This Citizen watch is beautiful too.
Thanks Dave, nice review as usual and I would like to see more Citizen watch reviews. I only have one Citizen but I love it and have had it for 11 years. It is Eco-Drive and perpetual world time. Thankfully the lume on the hands of that one last all night.
Thanks Dave, you bring us some great JDM watches. I agree with your comment re date legibility or lack thereof. I have a Citizen world time which has the same issue☘
It has a pretty standard Citizen watch issue that I saw the second it came out of the box. The date is buried a couple of millimeters down in the dial, and the opening is narrow. It's invisible under so many lighting conditions.
GREAT find, Dave!!! The reverse panda looks great!. I love chronos, so I may have to grab one. Due to the dial design with the internal bezel, it does look like it wears larger than a 41mm though.
The same day you uploaded this video I was eyeing on this particular reverse panda dial watch at hardoff netmall sold for about $73 at todays rate and Ranked A. I am thorned between this one and an Orient Neo 70’s unused sold for about $117
Great design by Citizen. IF they would have worked to make the finishes “top notch” they might have sold millions. Some of the best JDM’s available are even less than $150 USD. Thanks for the video. Yes, I like the JDM reviews. Please keep doing them.
I'm not entirely sure, it's just the way the Japanese watch brands do things here. Maybe they think that Japanese tastes in watches are different than non-Japanese and that some of the models won't sell well overseas.
The one complaint I have about my more expensive BL5568-54L is the lume. Even in a $400+ watch, the lume is very unsatisfying. I can still barely see it at 5am in my pitch black bedroom, but if my eyes weren't adjusted to the dark, it would never be noticeable.
That looks a lot like the Hamilton think it's called the intra Matic. Enough to be a homage. Lol my bad the sundials are horizontal on the Hamilton. But other than that.
Hi Dave. I’m into watches and was hunting for an SKX007 at a watch dealership some years ago. The last one they had just got sold and the salesman showed me some Citizens that they had and walked away with a cheaper AN8120-57A. It’s a quartz Citizen chronograph. I still have it and love its white dial. Do you know anything about this model? There’s hardly anything about it online. I feel like you’re the perfect guy to ask. Love your content.
hi dave thank you for the review, i like this watch and going to look for it on discovery japan mall, there is a watch i can't find any review on youtube mybe it will intarest you ? seiko sbtm277 titanium
Thanks for showing us this. Such great looking watch! I'm still not sure if I should order the silver, red or the green dial. The red dial is even under 200€.
Orient an citizen when they make their best higher quality watches are just as good as the others. An quality control is very good. Except for the first time with orient star. I do not know if my watch was skipped at orient factory center, or it was opened up at a gray dealer. Their is dust an a very small lint i guess inside the crystal. The watch is the orient star heritage. White dial. There is dust on the hands an dial. An a lint inside the applied 8 marker. Kills me, but i love the watch. Also the paint was not fully done on the side of the minute hand. Really surprised an disappointed at this.
Hi, I bought the CITIZEN CA7030-97A. I am a newbie. My seconds hand dial only runs if i click it and it always stops after a bit. Am i doing something wrong, is it broken or is it not supposed to run unless we click some buttons?
A very attractive watch, thanks for your review Dave! I ended up getting the Seiko Spirit Solar Chronograph through Discovery Japan, based on one of your previous reviews. I really like it so far. The sweeping seconds hand is kind of mesmerizing. Would you have a clear choice between the Citizen and the Seiko? Just curious...
Seiko seems to be better built and finished. Citizen has more interesting design. I think the Spirit is a little nicer of a watch, but I could see going for the Citizen if you wanted something unique.
It’s been helpful that China has brought a dumping of watches with good water resistance and sapphire crystal, with Seagull ETA inspired movements or Seiko NH35 for peanuts. Citizen has heard the call, Seiko, they are tripping rising up their prices...
I want them to put a single logo on crown. It's really bugging me to see unsinged crown. Finally, Japanese watch companies, they all have factories in China.
Citizen is one of the coolest watch brands. I don't care who disagrees

That's a lot of watch for $200, Dave. Great catch.
I have six of the EcoDrives. I bought all of them from pawn shops and all were almost new. They are my favorite watches in my collection.
Usually not my favourite brand, but this is beautiful!

Best video production in the sub 100K watch channel space on UA-cam, Dave! Can't wait to see what you'll do when you grow to a million subscribers!

well...found my first Citizen! Thanks!!
You open my world for Citizen. This one is gorgeous and doesnt pretend to be one of Swiss's design.
I have the green dial one. It is an amazing watch. It has a hi-beat quartz movement and a sapphire crystal.
This is a fantastic looking watch. I keep looking at citizen but really struggle to find one that I like at the right price.
Thanks for showing us this one.
What’s the right price? One of the fujitsubos seem to pack a punch, especially given the RER.
It’s the value for money balanced with love of the watch equation.
Hard one to define 😊

A smashing looking watch.
Really digging the 97A model with the bracelet. Might scoop this up. Price is great!
Your right Dave this is a great looking watch 👍 Good Eye 👀
Wow, that’s one busy Watch dial. I have the Citizen Brycen, I much prefer it’s appearance.
Thanks!
Hahahaha up to $255 USD now. And the one you looked at is long sold out and was over $300 USD. Great job this year. Merry Christmas.
That is a nice chrono, and if I didn't already have the Casio Lineage JDM chrono Dave has reviewed I would be all over getting it.
Reminds me of the cream/black CA7020-07A, except that one has a mineral crystal and might be 2mm larger.
It has a pretty standard Citizen watch issue that I saw the second it came out of the box. The date is buried a couple of millimeters down in the dial, and the opening is narrow. It's invisible under so many lighting conditions.
really love to see this design in automatic version

What a nice Citizen!
Fantastic video and watch I'll have to swing by yamada denki and check it out in person.
Very cool and fairly priced. I like the look a lot.
I really like that, but with small wrists that is just a tad larger than I’m into. If it were 39 …or maybe 40mm I’d be tempted.
Nice watch great review
Red for me, fantastic....ticks the boxes for sure....🏴⌚🏴⌚

eco drive usually is printed on an eco drive watch. never seen one otherwise. this might simply be a regular quartz.
