Agreed. It's missing that which can be helped) and the disappearing barriers makes it nearly impossible for 1v1. Also think always on throttle is necessary
This video was based on the sequel "Legacy" movie, as shown by the reference image. 90 degree turns wern't "missing" here because the legacy styled lightcycles did curves. (Wall-boosting though was still missing).
This and also add glowing neon elements to your vehicles, quantum rudders like Yzuei did, and switch the time to night so it's dark and you can't just easily plan out things visually. Your depth perception will get a little wonky and you'll then have to rely more on just timing of when to turn.
you guys should try this in an enclosed area. like the aircraft carrier or that arena in the map. also i think you should toggle the accelerator on. so once youre moving, you cant stop. and also, would it be possible to use 2 block dispensers, dispensing blocks alternatively. so you can double the speed?
Idea: Scrap used to do recreations of old plane prototypes/ideas. Maybe he could try to use the new logic to make a plane that flies without a vertical stabilizer without going into a flat spin?
I think the one thing you sort of need is walls to force turning. Otherwise you could drive straight for almost ever without worrying about others. But it was a fun build and watch either way.
That's why in the original 1982 lightcycle battles had "wall boosts" which works similar to drafting if there is a light wall to either side of your lightcycle. It increases your max and current speed so that you can pass the lightcycle you are trailing (again, like drafting in nascar).
Two suggestions for Tron Battle, one second 100 mph booster once then return to base to recharge it, or the longer the round, the faster the vehicle goes
So there is a niche mechanic to the lightcycles (tron bikes) that not many people know about, which comes from the original 1982 film: When you are next to a light wall, you actually get a boost of speed and increases your max. This allows you to pull ahead of someone you are following. It works similar to drafting in nascar.
Even if it makes the lines more... porous, perhaps having a rule about only one engine would be more interesting than a strict speed limit. Also then use them on a race track.
This was awesome! I don't know how well it would translate into a video, but combining your super skills with making functional machines and Yzuei's amazing aesthetics would be cool to see.
For limiting speed, you can just have the speed sensor outputting a signal of -1 to the engine itself. This will result in the sensor canceling out your input, putting your car in neutral.
Can you people stop with the “tank + sea/air” do you serious think that that's creative? What is a flying tank if not a plane? What is a submersible tank if not a submarine? Edit: Guys, just how badly do you want this to work? This idea is just so trash that y'all are trying to change it into space, making it even more meaningless. Find what you are trying to change, And what effect do you want to have on the fight, and why is it interesting That's what makes an idea good.
@@royalphrogwhat is a space tank if not a spaceship? Just what effect do you want to have on the battle? At best I could see the battle going slower and even less interesting than doing sub v sub again.
You gotta do a multiplayer challenge just like this one but use planes. You could turn off gravity so the concrete didn’t fall. Not sure how the physics would work but it would be fun to give it a try. Keep up the great content.
For this tron battle, you could add an intermittent boost that activates by itself every x seconds , this way its more caotic and possible to pass opponents
I love this kind of video, but it would be so cool to add a twist eg you design a feature on your car which puts smoke everywhere or similar. Something to hinder the enemies WITHOUT ACTUALLY TOUCHING THEM would be so cool.
May just be a weirdo, but I freaking love it when you play with other people and you all have your sort of theme colors. This one especially checked that box. Loved seeing the difference in designs between you 3. Red motorcycle. Blue car. Yellow truck. Squad. Lol
Would be fun to see some kind of aerial battles, where you are only allowed one type of input at once. So, you can steer, accelerate with engines, or shoot, but only one at a time. Would require making some pretty cool logic to ensure the system worked correctly.
SCRAPMANNNNN EVOLUTION DOGFIGHTERSS PLEASEEEEE. It could be separate evolutionary paths (each player sticks with the same plane they had from the start but changes it each round) so that there's more diversity and like reactionary evolution and stuff Eg if your opponent uses thrust vectoring, next round you could put on an emp instead of an extra smart cannon
I really like the Idea and I´m Happy you have done this again. If you are doing this again, maybe you wanna buil two Wall dispencer which are dispencing alternating, so you can do faster speeds.
Idea: Tron but on a vertical surface instead of a horizontal one. Maybe also increase the speed to make it more interesting and make the speed difference bigger when turning, so is possible to play more strategically
Tron style battles with some minimal terrain might help solve the problem of people always ending up neck-and-neck, give some variety to the surroundings to mix things up a bit.
Idea for a video, at least the start of a good idea anyways.. either on the space map or high seas map (because they are the biggest with most potential spots I think) you should build vehicles with not much restrictions, but mainly focus on camouflage, and basically play hide and seek and if your found it turns into the person seeking just has to destroy they person found and the person found has to race back to a designated spot before that happens. And don’t have to many restrictions because it will ultimately take the best skill to win
Hey scrap man I noticed in this video you commented on how patch has done a method of steering you haven't seen in Trail makers, I have actually commented before that you should making such steering for your racing vehicles, and this was way back before the space update. I will now begin a detailed explanation, so I hope you have the time to read this, in scrap mechanic, trail makers, screwdrivers and many vehicle creation games, the have the ability to steer from the wheels, however the reality is this is far less effective and not how cars in real life turn, the reason is because a wheel standing still and rotating outward will generate a turn, but real life steering pivots the wheel itself, to explain how this is different you need to look at how your steering functions from top down, your wheels in trail makers swing, using a hinge, this causes the wheel to move and change its x/y positions as it turns, while in real life if you watch a car steer its all rigidly connected so the wheel cannot move, instead they pivot, for an easier reference imagine your wheels turning as a circle, with the games default steering this circle is huge and changes its center point causing it to lose effectiveness, whereas real life wheels have a pin dot circle the pivot around the center point moving in millimeters and provides great response and control this is why some of your vehicles are likely rather difficult to steer, so in summary I think it would be fun if you built your own steering techniques that aim at improving handling and maybe if you find a system that works, try beating your old records on some of the races?
It's true that cars have steering joints much closer to the wheel, but rotating a bar (or a bogie) is moving the steering joint far away from the wheels. I don't know for certain, but I would suspect that bogie steering would cause understeer torque, as the outside wheel is pushed faster forward rather than rotating in place.
Idea: Scrapman, you should try to build an automatic 3D Printer using the wall spawners. Maybe you could have make a Mug, or a floating mug, anything you could think of.
scrapman, i have a speed limiter concept. basically u have a speed sensor, an and gate, and the engines u are gonna use. set the engine keybind input on the and gate, connect the speed sensor to the and gate set to trigger below, setting the speed limit, and connect the and gate to the engines, it should work (i can't test myself cuz I'm poor enough to buy trailmakers)
I really liked the tron style match. A few Ideas for a potential future rematch: Maybe a speedboost (temporarily) or higher max speed that switches off your wall. So slow gor walls and high speed for maneuvers. I think a recharge time would be nessesarry so the strategy woulndt just be go fast. Also maybe a limited arena. SO turns are nessessarry.
Idea: essentially just add a limited number of “boosts” that you can use in order to try and speed past and cut off an opponent. Maybe make it 5 per round, so you have to use them wisely
Now that the new damage physics are implemented, you guys should revisit the landing of a plane on a moving platform and see if it feels different to do.
I think this would be cooler if y’all used distance sensors at the front of your builds facing left and right. They would be set to like 50 meters or something, and then you just use the quantum rudders for decoration for the trails, but still explode when you cross them
Having an enclosed area I feel like would make it more exciting. I don’t know if this would work but could you use two wall dispensers alternating which one sets down a wall so you could have faster vehicles, also if it’s good enough maybe you could have dragon thrusters for a momentary speed boost depending on the performance of two dispensers. And if everything is actually doable maybe you could add an artificial timer to recharge the boost, sorry if this is a waste of time.
It doesn't matter to me if Scrapman's vehicles aren't always the best looking. I just enjoy watching him build hyper-optimized death-dealing machines. That's probably cause I'm from the U.S., though...
from the looks of it, the tron bike steers by slowing down/speeding up one side of the front wheel by adjusting the position of the front grips, probably?
I think you guys need to do this in first person so you have less awarness and visualisation of the bikes around you, would certainly make it more interesting and harder when added to a closed in map.
I feel like this challenge could definitely have used some boosters. Perhapskis with the new logic blocks, you could accumulate and expend boost to cut off your opponents.
concrete dispensers as... bombs? Well kinetic weapons, since they don't explode. But some kind of flying challenge/race to drop them on explosions or sensors could be fun. Maybe with jetpacks.
Next time maybe have a timed raw jet that you could only use every 15 seconds or so? Just to prevent the situations where one person gets stuck sandwiched
Idk abt patch's vehicle, he might just be going over 50 bcz he seems to be catching up to scrap's bike by a little and it matters in tron. There is no proof since he hasn't posted them yet
Did people forget that there ARE cars in Tron, specifically the second movie that I'm not so sure if people liked (Tron Legacy, not the show, the movie)
idea: redo this challenge but have the option to boost if you turn off your walls. so you would go normally 50 mph, but you could turn off your walls and activate a raw jet engine to go faster, and have a logic switch that wont let you use your walls if your over 50 mph
You guys did a version of Tron where you could jump over the barriers. Since you revisited your Tron concept why don’t you revisit that concept as well

Thats what I was thinking. Double the dispensers and speed, and then close it in
Idea: Scrap used to do recreations of old plane prototypes/ideas. Maybe he could try to use the new logic to make a plane that flies without a vertical stabilizer without going into a flat spin?
You wouldn't need the new logic to do that, just some speed sensors and and gates
@@alexling4347 yeah but the new logic can be used to prevent feedback loops which would cause the plane to shake back and forth
The gyros basically do this already, it just doesn’t make it satisfying. If you turn a gyro on strength ten it will both turn and resist change
