- 3/27/2023 update: Teletoon has been rebranded into Cartoon Network and CN Canada is Boomerang Canada now.
25 years ago today Teletoon launched in Canada, in this set you will see 2 hours worth of ads from the best and the worst of Teletoon in HD (that's 11.5 GBs, maybe it's a good thing the magnet incident happened but I'm still upset at what I lost) I am aware that most of these aren't in order but to me it didn't matter considering that most of these shows aired on Teletoon for a very long time (hell they're still airing the Scooby Doo franchise to this day) also I never could get an answer as to what time the network launched on launch day that's why it's at Ten am...and I Just realized I forgot to include the Sheep in the Big City from the 2019 compilation (don't worry it will be in the next commercial breaks compilation)
There will be a new version of the commercial breaks compilation (no I will not be including my own, that won't happen until after I do the final commercial upload ever and that will be long)
There are too many people I want to thank here because there's so many many ads I wouldn't know where to start, but I do mostly want to thank Nanotro for uploading most of these for the last year or so, @Pacific Dolphin for having some raw cuts, Tootuff fan for having stuff from 2002, and I want to give the biggest thank you of all to Probnot because if he hadn't uploaded content from the week Gay-purr-ee aired I wouldn't have had the wishful urges to share stuff from the day it aired and influencing me to eventually upload content from my own stash in the first place (if your stuff was used here please comment so I can add you to the thank yous)
and of course I want to thank to employees of Teletoon's past (including Grant Weins for being the voice of most of these promos) for making Teletoon what it was back in the day
Goodbye, Teletoon, the nostalgia world, when can we see you again?
When I moved to Montreal in 1996, we only had Teletoon in french but I was so excited to have access to a whole slew of new cartoons. As soon as we relocated to more inside of Montreal a year later, I had it in english. So many shows I remember vividly.
Same here, except I've lived in Toronto all my life.
Happy 25th Anniversary, Teletoon! It launched just 5 days before I was born. My 25th birthday is this Saturday.
Man my childhood is gone i remember watching Teletoon and Teletoon Retro whenever i could as a kid
You found the old My Little Poney promo. This is such an awesome find.
Dear Teletoon,
I can’t believe it’s come to this; I can’t believe you are now Cartoon Network full time, but what’s the point? You were different from Cartoon Network once upon a time, you had good Canadian content (now where will the reboots for Totally Spies! And the Triplets air? okay those were dubs but they count) where else could you find a big blue newt that was a Robin Williams like comedian? Where else could you meet a Witch that punishes some triplet girls by sending them into stories (but how is that a punishment?) Where else could I have met a group of meddling kids and their dog? Where else could I have seen a group of racers with unique cars and one of the few recurring Hanna Barbera villains? Where else could you look forward to Christmas when you aired a series about Santa Claus and meet some Aliens Next Door (as well as other specials that aired during the holidays, including the last thing released that had Phil Hartman’s voice), Where else could we meet an over obedient dog (who would make Lassie, the Littlest Hobo and Rex say “hey chill out man”) and his family of neurotics and eccentrics and denialists? Where else would we meet a trio of baby orphans that got their powers due to strange Y2K related reasons (regardless of how disgusting it was) along with their tech savvy guardian? Where else could we have seen so many shorts made in Canada, some exported from New Zealand, and the best group of singing animals ever (most of which were voiced by cast members from Arthur, the jungle show is quite obscure I’m so glad I found it), Where else could I see a group of first responders (based on a toy line) get some major character development and give us safety tips at the end of every episode? Where else could we meet a classroom full of kids who will probably need some serious therapy when they are adults (that is how I see the Kids from Room 402), Where else could we have new adventures with a Strong Girl wearing pigtails and a bear from Peru living in Britain? Where else could I see a bunch of Mice and Moles and Hedgehogs and a Hare and a Badger defend their home from a bunch of rats, and slavers and Magpies (not to mention Martin the Warrior’s origin story) Where else could we have seen a show that did behind the scenes stuff for animated shows and movies (yeah I remember SPLAT! too), Where else could we hang out in the coolest fictional mall in Canada? Where else could a competitive animated reality show be pulled off? and how else could we see the life of a tantrum prone child who slowly got better but didn’t change people's minds (yep, Teletoon was the first network in North America to air Caillou) most of these shows live on UA-cam now (though even I do once in awhile notice a show or two on other tv networks heck recently I caught Maggie and the Ferocious Beast on Nick Canada), but you, I met them through you, I entered so many contests (though I did win a watch once) that by the time I was 12 I felt it was no longer worth it. And yet all this time, you were there for me. You were there for me when I was sick Labour day weekend in 1998, You were always there in the morning while I was waiting for the school bus to arrive, You were there when I got my first computer, You were there for me when I had the worst teacher ever for 5th grade (and just to keep the references going, it could be worse, I could have gotten Mrs. Brinks who in this day and age wouldn’t be allowed to teach at all because of favoritism actions), you were there when I had no idea what Y2K was (and it’s probably for the best that I wasn’t aware of how serious it could have been then), You were there for me when my parents took my computer games away, You were there for me when I “Blossomed” whether I wanted to or not, You were there for me when I learned what the Holocaust was, You were there for me when I made that tough transition from 6th grade to a 7-12 school that didn’t have a good reputation and yet somehow I got out of there alive, You were there when I chose the Beatles over the Backstreet Boys...and mourned one of the former, You were there for me when I witnessed one of the saddest cartoon endings ever (referencing Martin the Warrior again but I could have easily brought up Kids Next Door),You were there when my parents got our first DVR, You were there for me when I graduated high school and turned 18, You always had a movie ready to watch on the first Saturday of every month (before going weekly), I watched so much adult stuff at night behind my parents back (I just wish you were still airing Duckman by that point, I actually randomly remembered The Maxx recently and considering the content (they actually mentioned Rape) I’m shocked at myself for watching that show). I watched the Simpsons on the network more than anywhere else back in the day. And you launched a spin-off channel for retro shows, I was happy when it suddenly showed up that December evening, but not so happy that I lost Teletoon’s west coast feed (I was able to watch Total Drama early that way back when I was invested in it) but I happily watched Rocky and Bullwinkle in its entirety, and revisited Josie and the Pussycats after it disappeared after year 2, I finally got to see the Teen Angels in action and was so happy when they picked up Laff-a-lympics during Vancouver 2010 (even though it no longer held up for me a decade later), and even better you brought back Ned’s Newt and For Better or For Worse back on tv screens. And now eight years after losing Teletoon Retro, you’re going away now too, but I don’t know what I hate more, that you evolved, or that I had to grow up, even though I had new default tv networks I still found my way back to you. You were way different from Cartoon Network, you were your own identity and that’s what was so special about you, you were dare I say....Unreal.
P.S. I'm still not happy that you dropped A Pup Named Scooby Doo before you could air the entire series…or the Simpsons
sigh....I guess in about a month I'll be changing the title to RIP Teletoon
The French Canadian Teletoon is still alive!
@@nintendorakyamato1859yup ! French Canadian Teletoon did have history and got it way popular than English
This hits hard now
They had variety with programming and voiceovers. Now it's just the same thing...
yeah I know that's why I haven't watched in 7 years
Same thing for the movies. They don't air random movies anymore. They just repeat the ones they're airing nowadays. It sucks.
Don't be sad that it is gone, be happy that it happened and you got to experienced it. I was only four years old when Teletoon started, grew up with its shows, it's a part of me and always will be.
I was seven about to turn eight
Tons of nostalgia here! There’s two things from Teletoon that I’m specifically looking for. One is the Macross Plus ad they ran in the late 90s. Someone had it on UA-cam, but it got taken down.
The other is a student film they used to run through commercial breaks. It was a cartoon where someone steps on a thumbtack and a little pain man takes an elevator to the guys brain in order to press a ‘pain’ button, which makes him feel the thumbtack. I was wondering if you had either of these?
I do not remember either of those
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit The Macross ad can be found in a video called 'The Bionix 15th Anniversary Special' at the 12 minute and fifty second mark. The quality is poor, it used to be uploaded independently, but has since been taken down.
I have found zero traces of the other clip I mentioned.

This is nostalgic for me too!
i miss teletoon rip teletoon 1997-2023
I recall many of those ads. They were from so long ago.
Out of curiousity, what are all of the shows featured in the video? I know Ned's Newt, Scooby Doo, Where Are You?, Braceface, The Triplets, The Simpsons, and Donkey Kong Country were there, but a nice refresher would be helpful.
the one with the bugs is santa bugito (yeah it gets no attention these days) the one with the animated dogs is Dog City
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit I remember watching those cartoons on this channel.
I remember those! Great cartoons!
I'm an American so I really don't have the same grief about Teletoon that Canadians do but I do tell that you guys loved the channel very much and when the day eventually came, Canada silently weeped, so adios Teletoon you were unreal. At least you have YTV and treehouse
I do question how much longer we'll still have YTV for as they no longer tape segments for The Zone block
R.I.P Teletoon
Now that Corus is pulling the plug on this once-dominant channel, we can only look back on these times…
it feels like a part of our Canadian Identity is being taken away
Sad to see it go
We need to make a petition guys! We don't need another Cartoon Network channel in Canada! Teletoon is an iconic channel we all grew up with and now they are shutting it down! Change the channel to Teletoon!!!
we're not getting a second cartoon network Teletoon is becoming Cartoon Network full time, while the cartoon network channel that has been existing since 2012 is going to become Boomerang we're not getting two Cartoon Networks on the same cable service
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit i know that now but isn't boomerang basically cartoon network anyways lol
I've been on the hunt for some rare full airings/recordings of Teletoon from the 2007-2010 era, and I was wondering if you might have some such as from this clip at 2:00:44 that you're willing to share with me?
I'm afraid I can't help you there, 2007 is when we got our DVR and I felt no more need to include commercials with the tapings as a result plus in 2010 our cable was pulled because I was in college and my parents felt there were too many distractions (but Hallmark season on W was what made mom bring it back)
I remember watching shows on Teletoon a LOT growing up along with Disney/Family Channel, Treehouse, YTV, etc. So many great shows that will always beat a lot of the new shows airing these days. Also, on an unrelated note.. does anyone remember a show called Mega Babies (or whatever it was really called) or is it just me? It aired on TV a long time ago and I can't seem to find much of it online. There were some shows that didn't last long but boy, do they last in our minds for a long time.
I uploaded a majority of the series on the channel
1:04:53 What This Lost Media From?
that would be Cybersix, and I find it quite odd that there aren't any available episodes on youtube
It's not lost media in any way. :D The entire series is on DVD from Discotek.
As for why the episodes aren't on UA-cam, TMS (the series' owner) seems to be very strict about others uploading full episodes of its shows here.
I sadly never got to watch this channel(i am from us)
It seems fun and cool
it was, there was even a time where I kind of wish we had it....problem is we finally got Cartoon Network in 2012....it didn't come to my provider til 2015....and it was kind of too late I was already in my 20s and disappointed with what was there to offer
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit i saw some of their shows(which were either acquired or on dvd)
Can someone please find footage of the song Teletoon and You
it's in this set ua-cam.com/video/Um9Q94uj0aY/v-deo.html but it's partial
I heard Little People aired on Teletoon in 2003. Do you have a Little People promo from Teletoon? Or even a commercial break?
I can confirm that it did however I don't have a promo (after I did the Simpsons tape I didn't tape anything on Teletoon again until...welll 2001 or 2 when Redwall the movie aired but that's lost because I sucked at setting up a VCR then, I didn't tape another thing on Teletoon until December of 2004, and that set will be available this Christmas)
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit Maybe there might be a Little People Promo there. I guess I’ll find out this December.
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit we will miss TeleToon, Canada’s beloved channel
Will we do 35 years of the family channel/YTV next year?
unlikely, I'm not that old besides I don't have enough nostalgia for the earlier days of YTV I grew up with the Fuzzpaws not the Grogs and I Don't have enough nostalgia for the early days of Family Channel especially since we didn't get it until 1997
My teeny tiny pet peeve is Teletoon should've made a separate channel for adult cartoons like John Calahan's Quads and Duckman.
Curiosity made me watch those adult cartoons as a kid but I didn't get traumatized, it did waste my time watching them and I didn't understand any adult jokes
well Adult swim exists as a separate channel now....kind of wish Duckman was on the network...hell I still remember the first time I watched Duckman it didn't freak me out I actually laughed at it....and I was like 8
I have bad news for you guys. Teletoon is shutting down and is being rebranded as Cartoon Network.
that's why I said I was going to change the title of the video when it does happen
It makes me sad, Teletoon was a major part of my childhood. It was fun while it lasted, though. You’re lucky you got to experience Teletoon’s early years, as I was just a baby during that time.
why I need access to a time machine more than ever....I would go and gift my young self some blank tapes
Now today’s the day. Goodbye Teletoon, you were my childhood.
What about 2008-2023?
by 2008 we had a dvr and since a VCR could still work with it I could tape stuff without commercials which is why you won't really see any from 2008 (except for that one Total Drama ad)
