Low pH May Limit Composting Food Waste

Composting food waste during the summer months may present additional challenges for composters because the pH of the food waste drops significantly before it arrives at the compost facility. Low pH leads to odour challenges. Low pH may also impact the microbial community in the compost pile, making for a slow start to the compost process!
