Love these type of videos sebby! They definitely help out people just trying to get into the credit card game! Love the content and keep the videos coming!! Have a good one everyone!
If i had to do it over I would recommend: 1. Discover It 2. Chase Freedom 3. Citi Double Cash or Capital One Quicksliver 4. American Express Blue Cash or Everyday (if you want MR pts) 5. Chase Sapphire Preferred or Capital One Venture or American Express Green card This way you are covered for gas, groceries, & restaurants for 6 months out of the year at 5%. And you have 1 travel card. And you have both UR or MR pts to build from depending on which eco system you prefer! And most importantly, you have a variety of cards from multiple banks, in case you ever experience a shutdown from 1 bank, you won’t have all your eggs in 1 basket! Just my $0.02
Good strategy and I completely agree. I actually have at least one of those cards in each tier except for number 4. For me, Discover was the first card to give me a substantial credit limit with no annual fee, early in my work life when I still had a fairly limited credit history, which was a huge boost that I’ve always appreciated. I’ve maintained a good relationship with them ever since.
@@zerajnimegroj3012 - thats a very good cashback set-up. But if you haven't got those yet, i would recomend get the US bank card first, b/c i hear they are very sensitive to new accounts in the prior 12 mths. as for a NO AF travel card, i would recommend: Venture One - travel ins, 20k bonus, 1.25% cb Marriot Bonvy bold - travel ins, 50k bonus, but hotel pts Paypal MC - 2% cb, no foriegn fees, but no travel ins either Wells Fargo Propel - 20k bonus, 3x pts, but no travel ins.

Can't go wrong with IHG. I learned about them through Sebby, then stayed at a Kimpton hotel in Seattle randomly and went for the premier card when they announced the 140k bonus. The Hyatt and Hilton cards sound like awesome cards too for the value.
My first cards were Wells Fargo student card (now discontinued), Bank of America travel rewards card, Ulta beauty card, chase freedom og, and chase sapphire preferred. I do regret the Ulta one but I think all the other ones were pretty solid👍
My second card was the Amazon Prime Rewards Card, as someone who will be moving into my own apartment within the year and starting my first year of college 5% back will do me wonders. Also my Discover IT secured card give 4% back on gas stations and restaurants and 2% on everything else within the first year so I have that covered for now. Plus the Prime Card is through Chase so starting early building a relationship with them
I really enjoy these videos. I appreciate your insight and your strategies. I try to do the same on my channel with my travel hacking tips. Keep the tips coming!!
My experience with US Bank is stellar. I'd like to see one of their branches open in Dallas, Texas! Their credit card business is top notch and their customer's support is great.
Started with BOA / Discover. Didn’t know about the 5/24 at the time so I’m working completing my trifecta and then I’m locked out for 2 years. And I want to product change my CSP to CSR !
I’m one that’s very confused as to gaining that kind of maximized value using transfer partners through chase. Looking at the rates, it looks like transferring points will give you less value than if I were to use my chase sapphire reserve (through the portal with my 50% boost). Would you ever do a walk through on this process?
All else being equal...AMEX Platinum card ($550 USD/year) will satisfy all your travel adventure. Global entry fee is around $100 USD/year, it will be credited back to your account. Maurice S Long time Amex Platinum holder and CSR but the hoops for the $200 airline credit, $50 Saks, $15 use or lose it Uber are just annoying to keep track of. Different priority pass memberships, now CSR adding all these other things to keep track of. I really enjoy the $300 travel credit because it’s easy to use and UR points are easy to use.
I want to get into chase. I applied for the chase unlimited and got declined, I got capital one, and got chase freedom as a authorized user, how do I get into it by my self?

I'm at about the 3-mo mark with my 2nd card (CFreedom) so I'm right around the recommended time to get that travel card! Venture seems enticing because of what might come through the pipeline later if C1 keeps trying to improve. Still, I think CSP is the obvious move here, no? But also, when would I get my first Discover It card? Hm..
If In already have the Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited, is there a downgrade path if I wanted I want to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserved in the future?
Question!! I am going to be living overseas for the next 4 years. South Korea for 1 and UK for 3. I'm new to the "trifecta" concept. But I wanna make sure I get the most effective set. Lots of info on best travel cards. But not necessarily for someone living in the travel countries. AMEX or Chase? Thanks in advance.
Look to see if the country's you will be living in take Amex. After that, look at the foreign transaction fees on your cards. Chase freedoms both have 3% fx fees. The Wells Fargo setup may be interesting here.
Since deciding to start working the travel points cards last year, I went with Citi AA Platinum, AMEX Platinum, CSP, Barclay's AA Red, AMEX Gold, Freedom, Chase Ink Preferred, AMEX Everyday Preferred, and AMEX Hilton Aspire. Over 225000 MR and nearly 200000 UR points so far. Trying to decide how and when I want to use a decent pile of points.
You'll never have enough points for your "indulgence" if you travel to: Moorea/Bora Bora - Tahiti, the Seychelles and the Maldives. Start planning! Have a feast for your senses!
Can you have the Freedom and the Freedom Unlimited cards at the same time? I have the CSP and CFU, and I'm looking to get the CF in the next month or so.
He’s right guys got accepted fir CSP for 5k prepaid my rent with the whole 5k. Got the $95 annual fee first month and prepaid everything off immediately, & received $600! Subtract the $95 and I’m left with $505 free bucks. Not ready to travel yet but who would turn down $505 ?? If you were going to spend anyway I’ll get it. It’s definitely a great card, thanks SEBBY! #700gang
My first was Sofi july 2021 WF Active august 2021 CFF August 2021 And currently waiting on my CFU to arrive. Idk which card to get after. I want the chase trifecta but the CSP sign bonus is too low and I also want a great hotel card maybe the world of Hyatt. Not sure yet more research is needed.
Marriott is less appealing nowadays. I would pass unless is a 100k offer and you have a specific use for the points. Not worth sitting on Marriott points anymore.
I am someone who used to work at a Marriott property. I like that I know what I'm getting and try to stay with them whenever possible. I think it is absolutely still worth getting simply because of the free night. If you generally stay at a Marriott or can make the switch... As long as the room costs more than $95 you have already got your moneys worth. Most of the places I stay are easily $150 - $200+ which more than covers my AF. The points are just a bonus but make sure you are being smart about where you use them. I do think the World of Hyatt Card is a bit better but I went for Marriott first because I was already part of their loyalty program and have used them regularly. Hyatt Card is on my short list. Eventually I'd love me and Player 2 to both have both cards.
I think it does make sense if you are part of a loyalty program with the hotel. I didn't go for the Marriott cards for now because IHG released that huge signup bonus and ironically, I stayed in a IHG hotel recently and capitalized. The Hyatt card makes alot of sense too though, haven't seen any negative reviews of that card.
I got the chase sapphire preferred 2 months ago. And i already hit the 60000 bonus points. But i don't think i'll be traveling soon with that Corona virus going around and im not a frequent traveler anyway. Should i downgrade it? Because if i keep it i'll have to pay an annual fee.
I’m already using the chase freedom, the trick I’m using is that i apply for one then I referred my wife to it then we plan to get csr and after i get the points i can refer her again and use the points all together
I’m rocking the Chase Trifecta now ... and then just added the Double Cash with Citi. Now with the CSP if I product change mines in year two can I get the sign up bonus for the CSR ?
Current lineup: 1: BoA Cash Rewards 2: Capital One Platinum (dumb app) 3. Chase Freedom 4: Chase Freedom Unlimited Currently at 3/24 and will shoot for CSP and Ink cards once I figure out how I want to meet MSR.
US bank releasing some new CC what do you think? If (not sure if you can) they can pool points from cash+, Go, and altitude reserve that would be a solid trifecta
Right now I have three credit cards: Capital One Platinum(that I’m currently in the process of upgrading to a Capital One QuickSilver card), Discover It card , and the Chase Freedom Flex card. Which card should I get next?
My setup: 1. Discover it 2. Boa customized rewards 3. Chase freedom unlimited 4. Apple Card 5. Chase freedom flex 6. Amex gold 7. Chase sapphire preferred Could have skipped the Apple Card as I only use it for installments on an iPhone. Otherwise, great setup started Nov 2018 when I turned 18 and I’m now 21.
Not paying AFs so a unorthodox setup: (Before Sebby) Jared's jewelry store card Military star card Delta Gold (product change to Reserve) NavyFed More Rewards AMEX (Post Sebby) CSP (Upgrading to CSR after year one) Chase IHG (140k point offer) AMEX Platinum (in 5/24, 75k point offer) Future cards: Chase World of Hyatt or Freedom AMEX Gold AMEX Hilton Aspire
I currently have the Hilton’s honors surpass card , capital one venture, chase business preferred ink, and considering the citi prestige and the jet blue to round out my first five. The ink started out with $6,000 limit and less then 3 months they game me a $3,000 increase. I like the jet blue cause I can roll my points from capital one into JetBlue.
thatisoriginal0k I had a very similar situation. I had a BOA credit card, 11 months. 0 hard inquiries and a 753 credit score. I applied for a Chase credit card and got denied for “Not enough accounts” and “not a long enough history” Chase is ridiculous.
Will Chase turn you down if you’re “overqualified” for a card? I just got rejected for the Freedom Flex and I wasn’t at 5/24. Also, FICO is 730-ish and household income is around $190k. Maybe they were trying to push me towards one of their other cards?
The one thing that makes me wonder about my next card is whether the United card is worth it even though I don't live in a United Hub, but I may start travelling outside the US in the next few years.
For the chase cobranded card with 24 months rotation. Do you suggest downgrading to no AF, then just let it get inactive/cancelled then sign up again and get the intro SUB? (Assuming you’re 5/24 reset) Or can you get the IHG premier again and get the SUB while having IHG traveler?
Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Apple Card, CITI American Airlines card, and Best Buy Citi bank. Waiting for my 5/24 to get my Chase Preferred 🤠
So say I start off focused on earning and burning UR cards as much as I can before reaching 5/24 - what’s the benefit of starting to actually churn other cards that award something other than UR after setting up a “trifecta”? Does spending on those Chase cards become more or less pointless (no pun)? Is the main concept that you can still transfer to airline/hotel partners for better CPP? Just trying to get a high level understanding here.
YMMV depending on your willingness to get new cards. A ton of people hate the idea of more than x cards. There will also be a "end game" state where you'll be out of intro bonuses, where being able to swap in the Chase Trifecta can be helpful (since you can downgrade/upgrade to no annual fee cards within the Chase Trifecta).
Barclays AA is my first travel card. I’ve put myself in a 4/24 non chase setup tight spot when I started getting cards but now I’m getting more serious about leveraging travel benefits. It’s been 2 yrs and I have 2 spots ready to open up so I’m looking at getting my Chase cards. Looking to start with the CF or CSP
I applied for the capital one platinum card and the freedom card on the same day, had to provide income verification on the chase though, as my first two cards
Hey Sebastian, love your content! Do you know if I can downgrade a chase sapphire preferred card if I already have a freedom flex and unlimited? Thanks!
What do you recommend with someone who lives in japan and like would like to travel a few times a year to places in and around japan as well as going back to the United States. I already have the chase freedom unlimited which I’ve had for about a year now. Would you recommend the preferred reserve or something else?? Thanks for you time and love you channel by the way it’s helped me a great deal.
Hi Sebby, do you recommend someone get the Chase Sapphire preferred or Chase freedom first? The only chase card I have is the Marriott boundless. I will be under 5/24 for the next 3 cards I get in the next year. Is there a path that you would recommend?
Huge fan here from Dallas, TX Im also someone that is building credit with a ITIN Number. I dont have a traditional U.S. life but this year looks promising so I can switch my credit profile to a SSN. Your videos along with "Credit Shifu" really helped educate me so I can catch up in life. Not sure how many other fans you have that are in the same situation I'm in, but if there are any out there, I'm sure they are as thankful as I am. Here are the cards I have; 1st: Capital One Secured (My first obtained in 2016) 2nd: Capitol one Quick Silver (obtained 2016) 3rd: Amex Everyday Blue (obtained 2017) 4th: Chase Freedom Unlt. (Obtained 2018) 5th: Chase freedom 5X and Saphire Preferred The last two I didn't apply for them directly. Chase Sent me an offer saying I was already approved. This was in beginning of 2020.
So if I get the ihg premier get the sign up bonus can I down grade and get the signup bonus from there or should I start from the no annual fee one then the annual fee one .
There's a case for getting both and UPGRADING both to have 2 Premiers (due to the anniversary nights). If you want to talk strategy: www.asksebby.com/free-card-consultation
Can do a vedio on what should be my first credit cards if I am not an American and want to get US credit cards. There are few things to consider. First the credit cards must have no forgen transaction fees and the first credit card must be from Amex.
I am glad that I found your channel and ones similar to this. I was on the DR plan paying off my credit cards, but something kept telling me that there is a better way to use them. I was never going to close them out (for emergency purposes) but I wasn't planning on opening any additional cards. I started with Discover IT while I was in college. I also financed some things through Apple so I have a synchrony and Barclays card, and I got lasik last year so I have a Care Credit card as well. I don't use these 3 cards so I really only have 1 cc (even though I have 4). I just applied for the CFU to start the points game and I think I'm interested in moving to an Amex card next or the CSP. I'm still trying to pay off my Discover IT so once that balance is zero I'll consider my next card. There's no point in opening a lot of cards if I'm just going to max them out. Sorry this is such a long post, but I appreciate the knowledge I've obtained from your channel!
I'm 18. I currently hold 4 cards: - Discover It Student - Chase Student - American Express Everyday Card - Chase Amazon Prime Card I currently have a credit score of 695 and had have a history of 3 months. Which Chase card do you recommend I get? I travel internationally once every 2 years to Bangladesh. Also love traveling domestic.
Stop adding cards and go for the CSP or CSR when your oldest card is 12 months old. Value of each Chase slot: www.asksebby.com/blog/how-much-are-chase-credit-cards-worth
Here's my ranking of Chase business cards: www.asksebby.com/blog/chase-business-credit-cards-from-best-to-worst General strategy is to go through Chase first, then move onto Amex business cards based on the your category spend.
I'd like to see a video about the credit cards offered by usaa and navy federal and how they compare to the non military credit cards. Edit: I just read that since I'm military, chase will waive all fees on their credit cards. Should I just jump on their biggest reward card since I don't have to pay for it?

I just applied for my amex everyday preferred. I make 24k man do i feel dumb 🙃
Some of these churners in the comments admit to paying THOUSANDS per year in annual fees. I guarantee many of them are not high net worth individuals.
I make about that and pay $95 for CSP. I still get more value out of it than I would with just the freedom cards (I have those as well)
If you getting a positive value from the card it shouldn't matter the annual fee or the amount of income you have.
Current (in order): CSP, CFU, CIBC, CSR (upgrade from CSP), Hyatt
Next on my list: CIBU, CIBP, CF
I didn't realize how fun using credit cards for point is, I'm addicted, thank you sebby

Is this current in mid/late 2022?
I love how he says bonus..."bjurnis"
He’s right guys got accepted fir CSP for 5k prepaid my rent with the whole 5k. Got the $95 annual fee first month and prepaid everything off immediately, & received $600! Subtract the $95 and I’m left with $505 free bucks. Not ready to travel yet but who would turn down $505 ?? If you were going to spend anyway I’ll get it. It’s definitely a great card, thanks SEBBY! #700gang
I needed this years ago.lol
Is it allowed to downgrade CSP-->CFF and then sometime (months? years?) later, upgrade it back CFF-->CSP ?
My first was
Sofi july 2021
WF Active august 2021
CFF August 2021
And currently waiting on my CFU to arrive. Idk which card to get after. I want the chase trifecta but the CSP sign bonus is too low and I also want a great hotel card maybe the world of Hyatt. Not sure yet more research is needed.
Does the United Explorer Card have a downgrade path? If so what exactly is it?
Would you still get the Bonvoy card with the 75k welcome bonus and with the increased categories for the 2020 hotels?
Hi!How are u sebby?Do i have tk wait to apply for the chase freedome if i already have the CSP?I’m trying to get the trifecta going.
I’m already using the chase freedom, the trick I’m using is that i apply for one then I referred my wife to it then we plan to get csr and after i get the points i can refer her again and use the points all together
My credit was so bad, the only secured card I could get is OpenSky. I’m hoping I can close it after a few months and get something a little better
1. Discover it 2. Chase freedom unlimited. Will go business cards next or CSP
I’m rocking the Chase Trifecta now ... and then just added the Double Cash with Citi.
Now with the CSP if I product change mines in year two can I get the sign up bonus for the CSR ?
Current lineup:
1: BoA Cash Rewards
2: Capital One Platinum (dumb app)
3. Chase Freedom
4: Chase Freedom Unlimited
Currently at 3/24 and will shoot for CSP and Ink cards once I figure out how I want to meet MSR.
I'm going:
Discover it (have)
Sofi credit (have)
Freedom flex
Alaska airlines
Freedom unlimited
Sapphire preferred
US bank releasing some new CC what do you think? If (not sure if you can) they can pool points from cash+, Go, and altitude reserve that would be a solid trifecta
Does being added as an Authorized User under someone else’s account fall under the 5/24 rule?
Right now I have three credit cards: Capital One Platinum(that I’m currently in the process of upgrading to a Capital One QuickSilver card), Discover It card , and the Chase Freedom Flex card. Which card should I get next?
My setup:
1. Discover it
2. Boa customized rewards
3. Chase freedom unlimited
4. Apple Card
5. Chase freedom flex
6. Amex gold
7. Chase sapphire preferred
Could have skipped the Apple Card as I only use it for installments on an iPhone. Otherwise, great setup started Nov 2018 when I turned 18 and I’m now 21.
Not paying AFs so a unorthodox setup:
(Before Sebby)
Jared's jewelry store card
Military star card
Delta Gold (product change to Reserve)
NavyFed More Rewards AMEX
(Post Sebby)
CSP (Upgrading to CSR after year one)
Chase IHG (140k point offer)
AMEX Platinum (in 5/24, 75k point offer)
Future cards:
Chase World of Hyatt or Freedom
AMEX Gold
AMEX Hilton Aspire
Just want to say thanks for posting these informative vids
:)
I currently have the Hilton’s honors surpass card , capital one venture, chase business preferred ink, and considering the citi prestige and the jet blue to round out my first five. The ink started out with $6,000 limit and less then 3 months they game me a $3,000 increase. I like the jet blue cause I can roll my points from capital one into JetBlue.
i have a discover it for 8 months w no prior history and applied for the chase freedom and got rejected with a 750 credit score :( any tips?
thatisoriginal0k I had a very similar situation. I had a BOA credit card, 11 months. 0 hard inquiries and a 753 credit score. I applied for a Chase credit card and got denied for “Not enough accounts” and “not a long enough history” Chase is ridiculous.
Explained at the 1:50 mark
Applied for the CF 3 days ago with only 3 months of history with a discover it secured (688 score) and got accepted. Chase is so weird.
Call the reconsideration line
@@Red_Horseplay well if u have a higher income than that can be ur answer
(Assuming you’re 5/24 reset)
Or can you get the IHG premier again and get the SUB while having IHG traveler?
Hello Sebby what about chase Edge or slate where does that fall in the line up with freedom flex cards
Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Apple Card, CITI American Airlines card, and Best Buy Citi bank. Waiting for my 5/24 to get my Chase Preferred 🤠
Does adding any of the Chase Business cards count towards their 5/24 rule?
Chase business cards are affected by 5/24, but don't count towards it. You have to be at 4/24 or under to open one.
Yup, I was at 4 out of 5 for my 5/24 and I was able to get all three business chase ink cards.
Ryan Awesome, that’s my next move
Ryan were you able to get all 3 at once using one hard inquiry?
Currently in this order United, Hyatt, CIC, CIP, CIU early fall either downgrade United and re-apply or get the CF
Sebby do you know for sure that United card let's to take free oversized ski bags for free?
What's this 5/24 people are referring to?
Just wondering how do you get bam from Chase
Thanks!
U can!

Top 3. Sweet. Fung gang.
160th!!
Hi Sebby, do you recommend someone get the Chase Sapphire preferred or Chase freedom first? The only chase card I have is the Marriott boundless. I will be under 5/24 for the next 3 cards I get in the next year. Is there a path that you would recommend?

How about chase amazon card?
Huge fan here from Dallas, TX
Im also someone that is building credit with a ITIN Number. I dont have a traditional U.S. life but this year looks promising so I can switch my credit profile to a SSN. Your videos along with "Credit Shifu" really helped educate me so I can catch up in life. Not sure how many other fans you have that are in the same situation I'm in, but if there are any out there, I'm sure they are as thankful as I am. Here are the cards I have;
1st: Capital One Secured (My first obtained in 2016)
2nd: Capitol one Quick Silver (obtained 2016)
3rd: Amex Everyday Blue (obtained 2017)
4th: Chase Freedom Unlt. (Obtained 2018)
5th: Chase freedom 5X and Saphire Preferred
The last two I didn't apply for them directly. Chase Sent me an offer saying I was already approved. This was in beginning of 2020.
So if I get the ihg premier get the sign up bonus can I down grade and get the signup bonus from there or should I start from the no annual fee one then the annual fee one .
There's a case for getting both and UPGRADING both to have 2 Premiers (due to the anniversary nights).

love the breakdown bro, extremely helpful
First 5 were Amex Gold 🤦🏻♂️, CSP, CF, CIP, CIC
Looks like you still have 2 slots for Chase though :)

What is cip and cic?
I thought Chase Inc did not count towards 5/24
Doesn't count, but it's affected by 5/24. You can only get it if you're at 4/24 or lower.
Can do a vedio on what should be my first credit cards if I am not an American and want to get US credit cards. There are few things to consider. First the credit cards must have no forgen transaction fees and the first credit card must be from Amex.
Amex global transfer would be the best bet: ua-cam.com/video/G29JQqyrxuI/v-deo.html
US credit cards require you to submit your social security number, when applying. Not sure how foreigners deal with that request.
Chase, Chase, Chase, Chase, and Chase
Nice, my "like" gave this video 415 likes. Bay Area, woot!
:)
First again
Dang it
Its between Lalit vs Shay lol
Congratulations, your prize is on it’s way!
I'm 18. I currently hold 4 cards:
- Discover It Student
- Chase Student
- American Express Everyday Card
- Chase Amazon Prime Card
I currently have a credit score of 695 and had have a history of 3 months. Which Chase card do you recommend I get?
I travel internationally once every 2 years to Bangladesh. Also love traveling domestic.

Here's my ranking of Chase business cards: www.asksebby.com/blog/chase-business-credit-cards-from-best-to-worst General strategy is to go through Chase first, then move onto Amex business cards based on the your category spend.

What is the minimum credit score for a chase Sapphire?
You generally want to have at least a 700+ to increase your odds of approval for premium cards.
Ask Sebby Thank you!
I'd like to see a video about the credit cards offered by usaa and navy federal and how they compare to the non military credit cards.
Edit: I just read that since I'm military, chase will waive all fees on their credit cards. Should I just jump on their biggest reward card since I don't have to pay for it?
