Sounds like serious detention time to me. Like you said, you could have lost you're next load if you had one booked. Which is bank for you. I agree with Matt Berg. These shippers are starting their own brokering business to cut rates even more, shows they don't care about the carriers time or money. And then taking trucks ahead of drivers with appoitments. Yea start naming names to inform other drivers.

Not using uber freight but I have sat at a chicken house 24 hrs waiting to get loaded, it puts you behind, and the elds doesn't help, I'd rather be loaded and rolling instead of collecting detention. $400 detention doesn't buy back lost time waiting to get loaded. I'm convinced the people that will not let you over are the people that have never been stuck on the shoulder, after 2 blinks of my blinker ill help "motivate" 4 wheeler's to let me over, in most states it's a law.

Hey MakeCents! love your videos! I have a problem that I’m not sure how to solve. I got my class A CDL last year from a driving school while working as a school bus driver. In November, I made the mistake of trusting my sister to get me an Tylenol and she ended up giving me her prescription by mistake and I had a DOT random drug test the next day that I obviously failed. (I know I should never trust anyone to get me a medication of any kind ever. This was a 1 time mistake) I was advised to do a return to duty process through a certified S.A.P professional which I did. I have no Trucking or over the road experience. The problem now is no entry level trucking company will hire me. Every recruiter says I’m disqualified based on that 1 test. A CR England recruiter even called me a “never-hire”. Uber freight and C.H. Robinson agents told me they’d still work with me if I go owner operator. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Would you go owner operator with no prior trucking experience? Any and all suggestions and ideas appreciated. Thank you

I think shippers are running their own brokerage business, posting on load boards cheap and making a killing with cheap freight. Somehow the trucking industry needs to get it together, we have been divided and conquered for decades. Is anyone else tired of of getting screwed?

Pays Detention, and you need to put you on detention on the app 2 hours from the appt time if you miss the detention window there is no detention either, they have the worst service when handling problems with load !!! Three weeks ago I did a frozen load from Boise ID to Phoenix AZ at Shamrock Foods. They had 3 stars on the Uber app with mixed reviews on long delivery times. I decided to take a chance and go for it. I spent 11 hours at Shamrock, turned in my POD to Uber and separate BOL with in and out times written on BOL and signed by receiver. Uploaded them both to the appropriate place, and was told by Uber that I never uploaded the detention request, and if you don't do it within 24 hours you can't receive detention. When I told them that I did upload it on time and showed them proof that I did, they ignored me, and will not respond to any emails that I send on the matter. So I lost 8-9 hours of detention. I brought this up with other drivers on the TTR message board and others reported as having the exact same thing happening to them. So I'm guessing that it's a matter of Uber policy to find ways to deny detention pay to drivers. That's the last load I'm hauling for Uber. At least Convoy calculates and issues detention automatically no questions asked.

Customers must accept rate conformation sheet I write my own it's a binding legal agreement charging several items if they occur including detention by the hour it don't matter how many hours $$ clock keeps ticking until my trailer bumps their dock and is being unloaded.
Generally a new broker won't sign yelling. I say "do you work for FREE i don't".

2yr dealing with uber. That for me is a unique experience, including the review issue(some app problems require u to logout then back in to app)
Detention is 5max after 2hrs free. Been to this shipper in Dallas a bit, normally in/out. You have to notify of deten 30min before it begins, so 1hour & 1/2 after appt time when arrived on time, early doesn't count. Those cans are good money imo bc light weight /usually high pay. What I have noticed booking with uber is the shipper generally treats me like a big carrier, always load to appt time and take me early no issue most of the time. 6-10hrs early on occasion.
Dallas that bad of a market for freight ??
Oh and that blinker is not for us to get over, it's to tell lil 4 wheelers to speed up, Right!? 😤

Ball Corperation I’m guessing? They have a pretty hard time starting up when they are new. The first time I loaded at the Goodyear AZ location I was held for 18 hours if I remember right. A few months later it was 6 hours. They got better an better but I usually got an hour or 2 detention. I’ll take the $75-150

Good video. Had many of those 17 hour shipper days. Way to stay positive. Hey, just something to think about, have you ever thought about putting a vlog out on the use of personal conveyance?? I’m going to finish my week with 3,300 miles ( Landstar rocks!) I have a buddy telling me I can use Personal Conveyance to dead head 516 miles home from shipper to home. Lol. That would be nice, but I don’t think you can do that. Going home next week Friday to give this old Peterbilt some TLC. 😎

Haven't hauled an Uber load for several weeks but it was 75.00 an hour and up to 300.00 for detention. Not sure on layover - but Uber is the only broker that will pay mileage up front if the load goes sideways and is a TONU. 2.00 a mile up to 100 miles and ONLY if you use the app. meaning clicking "on the way" when leaving the last consignee.

  • @ikyelogisticpartners2644

Anytime that you are at a shipper or receiver, you must have the shipper or receiver acknowledge the time and time out which must be marked on the bol. Anytime you spend more than 8 hours in detention, that becomes a layover rate. You have to double check your broker agreement but I do believe Uber freight pays $150-300 for layover.
To qualify for detentions and or layover, you must be on time for both shipper and receiver. In and out times must be marked and signed on the bol by the shipper and or receiver.
It's two-step process because the claim can't be finalized until you make the delivery. And it must be filed I believe within 24 hours of the delivery. Check the fine print

Quit hauling for brokers who lie ONE time. Go to Walfarts buy a notebook record every load you bid and haul by date n' time. Eventually you will go to back of notebook to begin the section BAD BAD BAD. Before booking any next load refer back to this list. BAD brokers change their Firm name often. A lot will keep same numbers, pay a bit more but keep their same bad bad BAD. Try it sometime you might stay happy.

The shipper is closed thrift store and nobody here. I spent hours to call broker/shipper and always be told to stay and wait. After 5 hours waiting and finally got the information the load was rescheduled tomorrow and was given to another cheaper carrier because I were late today. I believe they are maliciously waste my time as backup, at same time looking for a cheaper carrier. It is really a fraudulent business.

    We’re changing our accessorial policy
At Uber Freight, building a more transparent industry is core to our mission-so we know it’s important to share with you any changes that may affect your business.
On February 18, 2020, we’ll be revising our accessorial 1 policy. As part of this change, we’re reducing our accessorial rates 2 to align with industry averages. The new accessorial rates will apply to all loads picking up on or after February 18, 2020 (local time).
We’re also launching a redesigned process that should result in more approved requests. Based on feedback from carriers, we improved the process flow to make it simpler to request accessorials. Moving forward, drivers will now have the ability to write in and out times to the POD if a facility doesn’t include them.
    What’s changing
    Rate changes
    Detention3 $40 USD per hour
    Layover $200 USD
Truck Order Not Used $150 USD (non-reefer) $200 USD (reefer)
    Process changes
    Faster application, fewer requirements
We’re reducing the number of steps and requirements necessary to request detention. Learn how to request detention using the new process.
    New lumper policy
Reimbursement for lumper needs to be requested, with a receipt, within 24 hours of delivery.
1 These rates are subject to verification and change at Uber Freight’s discretion.
2 Rates will be determined by the currency of the line-haul on the rate confirmation. These rates are subject to verification and change at Uber Freight’s discretion. Carriers will be notified in the event of changes.
3 The hours eligible for detention payment start at 2 hours after the scheduled appointment time and end at 7 hours after the scheduled appointment time (for a maximum of 5 hours of paid detention). In order to qualify for detention, the carrier must be on time to the scheduled appointment time.

Yeah, brother. I don't like that place myself. I'm from Fort Worth and I picked up a load going there. And I asked the young lady. Could I drop my trailer and go home? And she said yes. They put me in the door 2 hours later. Drop the trailer went home. She called me about two and a half hours. Later. Telling me to come get the trailer is unloaded. I get there and haven't been unloaded. So I had to sit another. 4 hours Uber didn't want to pay me to detention because I went home and the app showed I have left. Go figure

totally respect the long hours truckers work and time away from family but the one thing most "4 wheelers" get upset about is when I am cruising along in the fast lane passing a line of trucks up a hill and the one trucker who pulls out to pass going uphill. He and I both know he is basically blocking both lanes now. You know you can't speed up going uphill most times. So please understand why sometimes we won't let you over exactly when you want to get over.

I'm halfway through the vid and I already know who you're talking about. Never loaded out of ft worth but their Monticello, IN location is the exact same. Your appointment DOES NOT MATTER to these people no respect for our time and uber usually puts a 4hr max on detention out of this company. But somehow they have around 4 stars and yes you cant read reviews. I double check on google reviews and typically find uber reviews are bs

I just got ripped off by Uber Freight, the shipper wouldn’t put in and out times on the bol but uber knows when I got there and when I left cause their tracking my phone and they denied my request for detention.

What you should’ve learned is....... TIME IS INVALUABLE! Time is more precious then gold silver and anything else. Stop giving them time you don’t have. We all live on borrowed time don’t give it away for free! I’m definitely talking to you Immigrant folks!

Wouldn't be trucking without a nightmare scenario thrown in there every now and then. You seem to do a good job avoiding them. Live and learn, put 'em on the list.
